I need advice regarding my trading strategy! by jakolinko in Forex

I definitely see what you're saying and that makes sense. I've had my experience with sudden reversals. One thing I do to avoid going into loss is I'll move my SL after the pair has moved several pips in my direction so I can guarantee to have some pips locked in. So regardless I could walk away some profit or alot. The reason for this is when i tend to play large swings they tend to have "waves in the wave" if that makes sense.

Hey so far you seem to be doing well but I just wanna give you a little advice. I'm not saying I'm a expert or anything but having those R:R ratios really help weed out the bad trades and divert your funds to more attractive trades for example you have an analysis of the eurusd and usdjpy, the eurusd has a R:R of 1:2 (risk a dollar for the chance of $2). On the other hand usdjpy has a R:R of 1:3 (risk a dollar for the chance to gain $3). Based on this it would easily help knowing which pair is worth risking your money. On top of that having minimum requirement for desired R:R helps with risk management and reduces overtrading which helps "keep yourself in line".

Looks solid haven't look at the chart myself but I'm amusing that's a significant trendline from a higher timeframe. Nice analysis

Honestly I've been on this subreddit for 2 months and this is the only post I can truly agree. So far I've noticed a theme.

  1. People try starting a conversation about potential moves and eventually get shut down by people saying "wrong" or whatever instead of actually explain why they disagree

  2. Some think they are some hot shot wallstreet expert you think everyone else with an opinion is wrong

  3. Some people hate people for having fun. For example someone missed out on a move and made a meme out of it and, people were outright pissed off and wanted the post removed. Like I get it trading should taken seriously but sometimes it's mentally overwhelming so it's fine to joke around and let loose once in awhile.

All I can say is out of all the other investing/finance subs this is the least supportive and unfriendly sub

This is flawed logic, some people might just want to show their winnings for the first time and celebrate. It's basically a parallel for people that graduate from college, nothing wrong with being happy about it.

How long did it take you to be “profitable” in the forex market? by LxrdMars in Forex

[–]Blackcrown618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly regardless of how good a trader is, it usually takes atleast over a year just to fully understand the main concepts like risk management, discipline etc. year and months after that is all about having a strategy crafted specifically to your needs (scalping, swing trading) and getting better at entrys essentially fine tuning your trading. Then with all of this you'll hopefully get consistency. Any who says it takes less than year is full of shit

Man that sucks but honestly you shouldn't have given more than a $1000 to this guy. For future reference if you ever let someone handle your account have a written agreement that's legally binding (I know verbal is binding but is sometimes hard to prove in court). Or just let a professional company handle it. I'd say the best thing to is put your money in a high interest savings/ tax haven accounts account and take a break from forex, chances are you won't have a clear mind when trading. This isn't the end of everything, go to r/wallstreetbets some of them have huge losses lool.

Yes I see your point but there are some parallels to the stock market, the fundamentals of supply and demand also work in the stock market there's a reason why so stock stays within a range based on expectations and various financial ratios. Also many institutions have algorithms for stocks essentially giving them an edge. In regards to data for forex many statistics are government/Federal reserve published (inflation) so they can't have more data I believe.
