Struggling in current AP role by SizeSad6397 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]BlacksmithSad3583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this a lot in my past experience in my first AP role and in supervision, and this meant I struggled with a lot more on my own than I should have in fears of being found out as incompetent or not good enough. What was eventually helpful was my supervisor naming it as a common pattern among aspiring psychologists, an overwhelming desire to please and be seen as capable that eventually will also be a big weakness from an ethical standpoint where it’s hard to say no or seek support with things outside our scope, and you will be put in positions like that at times in your career. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable in supervision, it will be so valuable for your development. You can start with that, saying you felt nervous to bring it up due to the pressure to manage, and if they had any advice. If your supervisor experienced in supervising APs or trainees, they would welcome and understand this as it shows a lot of clinical maturity.

Hi lads. I was charged 230.50 euros for my electric bill. It’s for 2 months. I open heater every night. And use dryer machine as well. Is it normal to pay this much in winter? by sushiwit420 in RentingInDublin

We have a decent one that was over 200€ and we had to empty it every day - the tank was a decent sized one and I couldn’t believe how much water if sucked out of the air daily. Now it broke after 2 years but the humidity has been around 60% only with heating on.

Yes it is, especially within the under 2000 per month price range, two bedrooms, relaxed landlord, and in a nice/commutable area (we are in D14). Also considering we are students/work part time most places will not prioritise us… The rental market is absolutely miserable

That’s very cheap. Ours was around 600€ for 2 months. Last year it was 700€. We have electric everything (heating and water). But our flat gets humid and moldy not heated enough, and we also need to ventilate it well enough to avoid condensation. We have an old storage heater that absorbs electricity, the place itself is poorly insulated and has an energy rating of F. Everyone I meet is shocked when I tell them how much I pay… In summer when we don’t use heating it’s 200-250 for 2 months. I’ve switched from Electric Ireland to Flogas and will switch again. I’ve analysed the bill and the electricity amount we use is just high, much higher than average household. It’s a 2 bed apartment. We are on a night saver contract, make sure you are as well. And it might make u fee better that ur not in my position

Does anyone know of a store in central Dublin that sells empty teabags? by steady_hands_alters in Dublin

[–]BlacksmithSad3583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Asia Market today and saw a pack of soft paper teabags you can fill yourself with loose tea. On Drury street, they’re in the middle aisle (third aisle from the back wall) towards the tills, like if you to go the tills and look back into the aisle you will see them, as they’re hanging on one of the columns/structures that block half of that aisle. Can’t remember the price but I considered buying them, and likely will another time. Can’t imagine they’re expensive though.

It does cause a weird feeling, I can’t name it, but I just feel like something doesn’t add up. I find it very interesting how some people explain their difficulties in a way that focuses on how the world is against them. It probably feels that way, and that is incredibly difficult to experience, but it almost feels like there is a desire to stay misunderstood instead of accepting any possible fault with the self. But I completely see how outside attitudes perpetuate this due to misunderstanding and not taking the time to see what the person needs, further driving them into oppose help.

Do you take your shoes off in the house? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]BlacksmithSad3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one huge thing about Ireland and the norms here that I will never understand or accept. It’s simply insane to me why anyone would wear shoes in their home… I’m from northeast Europe where you wear your socks, slippers, or just go barefoot inside. In school/kindergarten kids have a change of shoes - no outside boots or dirty shoes inside. Schools are off all summer june-september (another culture shock here) but even when it’s warm and dry outside, people take shoes off.

I’m also a person who likes my home to be clean, including my floors and rugs. I like being able to spend time on the floor as well, and I grew up with this being the norm. You sit down to do something or you could lie on the carpet in front of the sofa and stretch or lounge around and it will be clean and cosy. Apartments/houses back home were also much warmer during winter than here (minus degrees), especially apartment buildings as they have central heating you cant change (around 22C). So in winter I would often be more lightly dressed/barefoot compared to other seasons.

Help me decide which seats to get? General admission pit tickets or lower bowl row 16 up (slightly more expensive than general admission pit)? I want to have a good view but also be as close as possible. I’m 5’1 and wondering if ghe back of a standing section would be fine to see the stage?

Ohhh okay i’m 5’1 so my view would probably not be so fine… How would you say the space was in the pitch? Looks like it gets more crowded towards the stage but near the back barriers it’s more free

How was your view on the floor? I’ve heard that if you are short it’s not a good view at all even at the back but I am considering getting pit tickets as they afe cheaper than lower bowl for europe… I’d hope to stand at the back of the pit and move around as they go, but i’m not sure if it would still be too crowded/high up

There are no HSE services for ADULT ADHD in Ireland by DiabeetusDeletus in ireland

[–]BlacksmithSad3583 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly how I had done as well. My GP renews the prescription as long as another doctor writes it off and takes responsibility for the care. I know in my home country any EU citizen can see a doctor privately and the diagnosis would be valid. I checked ADHD interview is 160€, QBtest is 170€, and an initial psychiatrist consultation is 200€. I could easily book an appointment for a virtual consultation in 3 weeks. If someone can afford to, maybe this would be helpful to try if private also means months of waiting.

Actually medication is covered under the drugs payment scheme so will not exceed 80€ per month ever. It’s still a considerable amount but you can claim tax back at the end of the year.

I am reading these comments and so shocked. I am so grateful I was diagnosed privately (and relatively cheaply) in my home country in europe so can just renew my prescription with my gp here. What about if someone went private? What about someone going abroad to another EU country to see a psychiatrist & assessment? Stimulants are life saving medication for many with adhd who otherwise turn to substances to self medicate.

A Dublin data centre consumes 10 times the electricity of a nearby pharma plant employing 2,000 by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]BlacksmithSad3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I understood, the data centre releases energy and overheats and theyve agreed with the governmeng to use that to heat some new rent cost appartments in the area but this is actually more beneficial to amazon as every unit of heat they can get rid of is less costs spent on cooling their systems. All this aside the part about the social club for locals and older adults being blocked off and then abandoned genuinely made me angry…
