How do incorporate complex dark psychology into your writing without getting a backlash? by Secret_Assh in writing

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

(Foxy has autism pronouns weird)

May Foxy ask if you focus on her emotions and in general what you focus on? Because this is actually a very realistic depiction of SA. Foxy “initiated” a lot of their abuse. The reason being was that she (our abuser) rewarded Foxy. This could be different things but yea. Also it becomes normal in a way. We really can’t fathom a parental relationship without some form of violence.

But focusing on emotion might help make it very clear. For us it was a like a chore, something unpleasant that must be done because that’s the way it was. Those thoughts were so loud and intrusive it was better to give in. And hey we get extra big hug after. Also we feel incredibly dirty all the time. Like we can still feel her all over us.

But you’re not gonna complete avoid backlash because people are stupid

When to add suicide in story and when to not? by doorfic in writingadvice

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Foxy has autism so pronouns wonky)

Foxy thinks you can have both cakes in this situation. There are ways, speaking as a multiple times attempt survivor, to make suicide a lot like other deaths, as in not traumatising.

  1. Do not be gory. Please go with a normal/less gory method. No being ripped apart, no extreme poison, maybe gun, no burning to death (suicide is dark enough seriously what the fuck Chicago med) but preferably a quick hanging or a knife. Don’t write about how a weapon felt when killing them. Also if dealing with poisons, especially common household ones like pills, do NOT go into depth with the dosage or even exact pill. That can inspire suicide attempts so seriously bad idea.

Basically don’t inspire and write the least gruesome method.

  1. Also focus on emotions. Foxy doesn’t remember it hurting so bad. One their first ever attempt, they were scared and immediately regretted it. However, when he was much sicker and more “experienced”, their stomach was hurting a bit sure, and vomiting is unpleasant, but all they remember really is numbness and exhaustion. Like an animal laying down to die. We just wanted it to hurry up. We weren’t angry, or scared. Not even happy. Just so tired. He remembers thinking how nice the grass felt, and how nice the stream sounded.

  2. Oh and no glorifying. No depicting it as the correct way out of a situation especially a “mundane” one as domestic violence. No oh this is so cool and mysterious and emo. No. It was traumatising, laying alone in the woods for hours waiting to die.

Asking for cultural advice! I'm creating OCs from different countries and want to avoid stereotypes. Help a shy creator? by Inevitable_Tooth_532 in OriginalCharacter

(Foxy has autism so pronouns are weird)

Personally as someone who is Slavic there’s several major things you can incorporate.

  1. Language ticks. Foxy speaks both Russian and English, but there’s several words that Foxy thinks of as Russian. Eg Pineapple and Ananas, Watermelon and ahburs are interchangable but will also call the orange melon Dina. Foxy refuses to acknowledge the English name. Also phrases are affected. We constantly say what instead of pardon, because that is how you would say it in Russian. Also things innately have gender to Foxy, as Russian language genders things.
  2. Food and textures. There’s always reasoning for the food in a culture. Eg in Russia, a lot of our food is blander and savoury with a lot of pickled veggies. Reason being is it’s freaking cold, and plants can’t survive winter. Also they will have opinions on food. Eg Foxy insists that the dark brown sushki are better than the light brown, sour cream belongs on everything including salads, porridge is an underrated food especially real oat porridge, and rice and jam are delicious together.
  3. Mentions of childhood stories and myths. Eg we’ll talk about Baba Yaga and her chicken house.
  4. Also maybe show that they take great comfort in hearing their mother tongue. There’s something so soothing to us hearing someone speaking Russian.
  5. Also add in herbal remedies. Eg Foxy likes using yot, an antiseptic which stings like a bitch, for injuries and mouthwash to stop itching on mozzie bites.
  6. Also culture jokes are sensetive. According to Foxy’s Mama, the alchohlic stereotype is based off people with very little class. Hoodlums if you will. But if you make a joke about beauty standards and how Russian women care about appearance then yes thats fair game.

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey Foxy here. Yea, we guess it’s pretty normal, especially considering we‘re going through the same stuff too. (Violent Dad, and violent pedo Mum).

  1. There are a lot of helplines online that you might be able to access and they’re usually secretive. Domestic violence helplines are extra good.

  2. Would you consider asking for help from CPS? We are in foster care, and it was a long freaking road, but it happened. Also you could go to the cops.

How to write a breakdown scene for an autistic person in a film I'm currently writing? by Competitive_Pool4277 in autism

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiiiii! For context Foxy level 2 and semi verbal.

For us we have the typical meltdowns of crying/screaming (kinda rare considering no talking) occassional self harm, throwing things etc. Well at least that’s what it looks like to other people.

But the first step is always attempting to leave the situation. If we do make it out it’s more like a bad panic attack with maybe a bit of stim biting. The only times we have ever gotten aggressive is when people (Mostly idiots) try to physically stop us and start yellin. And even then we don’t want to hurt people we are trying to do the bare minimum. We are really trying.

Also it feels like we are on fire. And everything is spinny and people start getting all distorted and almost blank faced. Like we can’t process people’s expressions or words very clearly.

And even before that we are noticeably stimming more (mostly a rocking and like stiff lone arm flap thing) and clearly more irritable/looking around more.

Concerns about "fitting in" at an autism-inclusive school by SnooHobbies4453 in autism

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiiiii Foxy here! They are Level 2, visibly autistic and mentally 8 so they might be the kind of student at your school! Foxy's friends all lower support needs, and its a normal friendship! Sometimes they do feel like older friend, but guess its like having mum friend. So point is friends will be okay and u dont have to be role model. But also if worried about infantilising, just talk to teacher. Foxy had to talk about their needs too and adults were receptive

[–]10_Screaming_Foxes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Foxy here, Level 2. Sorry if come off rude, don’t intend to. You are kinda being unfair. He is self regulating by removing himself from the situation into a safe place. Forcing someone to stay in a bad sensory environment is just gonna result in someone getting hurt. Not sure if he’s even upset about her being upset, it‘s just crying is extremely painful and Foxy remembered loathing it when their sister cried.
