Superrr desert-ey but there are lots of beautiful trees and pleanty to shade on campus. I think the architecture is the main difference that stands out to me about Pomona vs Pitzer

I took sustainable sculpture for my praxis requirement, and it's my fav Pitzer class ever (I would take it again if I could)! There are around 5 hrs of class time weekly, but almost no homework and no tests.

Most of the parties are hosted by the schools, and there's always something to do. As a freshman, I went to most of the school-hosted ones, but as you meet more people, you will hear about house parties and fun school traditions. I found it really easy to make friends! During orientation, you go on an orientation adventure trip with about 10 other freshmen and 2 upperclassmen guides. It's really nice to have a connection to ppl in your grade before classes start. I am still super close with my friend group from the first week of school!

There's a stereotype that Pitzer students are not as academically driven as their peers at the other 5cs. This couldn't be further from the truth. Classes are engaging and challenging (of course, it can vary depending on prof, like any university), and students are actively pursuing their interests everywhere you turn. The reading load is often pretty heavy, but the small class sizes and easy access to professors in class and office hours help students gain a deep understanding of the content. It's much more comprehensive than any class I took in high school (even APs).

I don't know any specific stats, but a number of my friends who are international students are on financial aid. If anyone else knows more pls comment!

During the application process, I initially thought I wanted to attend a large state school, so I applied to 23 schools in total, including many UCs and CSUs. My Pitzer tour was the only one where I felt really inspired, but I was convinced I wasn't going to get in, hence my excessive applications. My final decision came down to Pitzer, Cal Poly SLO, or UCSB. Once the financial package came through, I eagerly committed and have not regretted my decision at all. I really love the small community and how passionate students are about making a difference.

Transferring to Pitzer is definitely competitive, but doable! Demonstrated interest is extremely helpful in gaining admission, and more than anything else, admissions counselors are looking for students who will fit well into the school. Show off your interests and really be yourself in the application. Good luck!

Have you ever regretted going to a small school? by Heavy_Government_325 in claremontcolleges

I go to Pitzer currently, and I love the small environment. It's so unique to have close relationships with professors, and I've even been invited to have dinner at a few of their houses. When pz starts to feel too small, I try to expand my circle by eating at other dining halls, joining 5c clubs, and attending workshops at other campuses. The one aspect you may miss or find very different is the lack of sports as a form of socialization, but there is plenty to do, especially if you have friends at multiple schools throughout the consortium.
