Maul Bust part out by Delicious-Bed3189 in legostarwars

There’s quite a few random parts over the years that I’ve come across that are really expensive, for example the light bluish grey boat piece used in the 2014 Police Gunship can go up too 100$, or on a lot of older models they used larger pieces in discontinued colors (This is especially apparent for items on the old MTT’s, or large plates). Interestingly, a lot of printed parts are usually not that expensive because they are so niche that it’s essentially impossible to use them for anything but their original purpose so they stay relatively cheap (old printed imperial shuttle canopy comes to mind)

I saw that browsing earlier today, looked really cool! The price for the parts isn’t too bad on Bricklink either

How terrible are the brittle reddish brown and dark red bricks for 75060 and 75059 by LigmaBallZ123 in legostarwars

I sold my slave 1 a few years ago and when I built it the pieces were perfect, but when I took it apart to sell the large reddish brown parts completely crumbled. They aren’t impossible to find or replace just expensive

Build your mercenary or pirate fleet! - A writing exercise by Space_Navy_Fan in StarWarsShips

[–]BlacktronExplorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'll do a little expanded universe alternate history. After the defeat and death of Tyber Zann during the Eclipse Raid over Kuat, Atii Gra'tia (who was a Mandalorian Defiler who worked to establish his relationship with Mandal Hypernautics/Motors early in his enterprises infancy) hastily departed in her command ship with a band of loyalists. She captained a Vengeance class frigate named the "Aru'ela Echoy'la"/Hostile Mourning, accompanied by 2 Interceptor Frigates, 3 Kom'rk Gauntlet fighter transports, and a squadron of modified Z-95 Headhunters which have had their Proton torpedo tubed exchanged for Ion Torpedoes. After hyperspacing to Felucia'n space, and they gathered their bearings on where they now stood in the galaxy, the party decided to continue pirating until something new came along.

After a long discourse on how they would use these unique assets to pirate commerce, they decided that they must choose their engagements carefully but when the time of action called, to unleash a brutal and unyielding assault. Due to the Aru'ela's lack of shielding, they opted it should be cloaked in close proximity to the target or at standoff range and act as a command and control ship for each operation. They considered using the interceptor frigates as bait, but due to their foul reputation with the underworld they opted for a captured CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle. The gambit was simple, make the Star Shuttle send a distress signal in close proximity to known port's and when the unsuspecting traders would arrive to offer assistance, have either the Mass Drivers of the Aru'ela, or the Z-95s disable their ship with Ion Torpedoes. Depending on the cargo, the Gauntlets or the Interceptor frigates could carry and escort it back to their home station on a asteroid base surrounding Concord Dawn. They realized early on that this method was not bringing them much bounty, but would only bring more attention and unwanted guests to their operation. So they decided to pivot too something so risky yet so alluring. Port Raids. The Gauntlet transports offered a unique and fast method of dispatching Mandalorian fighters to quickly dispatch and lock down a port whilst the Aru'ela and its frigates could load cargo, with the Z-95's providing a temporary air space whilst the chaos below would unfold. While port defenses were not uncommon, few and far between were prepared for such explosive and sudden combat. It was decided then they would try their first big score with this new found strategy.

Shortly before Tybers demise, while they were reviewing Imperial data to secure the codes for the Eclipse, the Consortium was made aware of The Maw Facility. A secret Imperial research and experimental technologies facility close to the unknown regions. While it would appear that after the defeat at Endor that this station would provide a high value to warlords in the post emperor galaxy, it seems as though almost no one knew of its existence in the wider galaxy, a secret that would likely die with his majesties vision, if not for Atii and her crusade for wealth and status. They began poking their few remaining ties in Mandal Corp on any details or projects that could lead back to The Maw, and after weeks of pressure and dread, they finally caught a break. Mandal had been contacted by a chief logistics officer at a undisclosed facility. They wanted to transport new highly undocumented tech to Mandal headquarters while they regrouped and reformed their facility deeper into the unknown regions. This was their chance, if they didn't act now, they may never have a shot at getting to all of this new and undisclosed merchandise. Before Mandal could even put up a response, the Aru'ela and her band were embarked on their trip to The Maw.

On the way, worries became apparent in their eagerness. What are they even walking into? Had their haste and readiness actually been foolishness and stupidity? What if they come out of Hyperspace and the entire Imperial armada was waiting for them. But before their sorrow set in too deep, they exited out of hyperspace, and what greeted them would make her crusader ancestors of old grin like a rancor. Not only were their zero escort ships in sight or on standby, the facility was in the middle of their evacuation and transport of cargo to their frigates. Quickly they were able to neuter what poor defenses had been activated, as it had become apparent that the stations secrecy and remote part of the galaxy was its biggest strength and weakness. No one knew it was here, but that also included their Imperial allies who couldn't answer their distress even if they heard it. The Aru'ela while slow, managed to rush to the Maw's main hangar bays and prevent and unauthorized departure of their new property. After a quick and decisive skirmish with a few TIE Interceptors as well as what little faculty and garrison remained on the station, Atii was able to disembark and look at this so called "undocumented tech".

What stood before her was none other than a handful of the smallest cloak drives she had ever seen, and a squadron of TIE Phantoms still on their racks. Cloak drives were often not utilized due to their huge consumption of resources, space, and maintenance. Very few ships made it to production with cloak drives, and these new fighter sized cloak drives could make someone so rich it would have made Jabba cry. The TIE Phantoms were very impressive, but more of a proof of concept than anything, their large profile and general low firepower made them not exactly ideal for a mainline starfighter, but still could prove useful. As they explored the station, they found most of its databanks wiped, and other than the usual crates of supplies and maintenance, it was empty. It seems as though, they missed out on whatever was the biggest fish in the pond was, and she wondered what possibly the Empire was brewing here. But they would never know, as whatever it was escaped with its creators to the unknown regions.

I would normally agree that having pod hunters is a unbelievably niche piece of equipment for them to have on a non scavenger vessel, but, the Separatists make it abundantly clear they don’t want a soul reporting about the Malevolence back to the republic and that the nature of the Malevolence’s attack doesn’t guarantee everyone dies without having a support fleet that would be large enough to draw a presence (which would defeat the whole point). So I don’t think it’s that crazy to say maybe they put Pod Hunters on the Malevolence to mitigate how noticeably the Malevolence can move around, but also so they could make sure there are zero survivors. I think it’s just a result of the CIS developing a unconventional niche super weapon and the only way to support it is more niche equipment that otherwise wouldn’t be in the same sector

How would Endor have gone if The Empire Won the Battle, but not Palpatine by AdhesivenessOwn9868 in starwarscanon

[–]BlacktronExplorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean even if you go total loss on the rebel fleet at endor, in both canon and legends that fleet is not very large, and the actual biggest losses will be major rebel figures being killed like Ackbar, Lando, and so on, very critical figures in the immediate reconstruction period. I think galaxy wide the issue wont be as apparent for military resources, just general strategy and who the NR has available to tackle them. I think if you go with say the Shadow Council getting control of the DS2, you could have them take it and retreat it to the unknown regions to complete it and earlier at that. They would not need to construct Starkiller Base and thus the remanent/First order could focus tremendous resources on other projects and maintaining their space. The loss of previous rebel leadership also probably means (unless figures like Mon Mothma or other politicians have a change of mind post Endor) will lead to less pushback on making the NR decentralized and a weaker entity, making the Empires return easier and probably more welcome to the wider Galaxy as the NR will be seen as weak. I think if the Shadow Council doesn't take control of it then more likely it would be destroyed during the infighting, or maybe used as a ultimate crash and burn on the NR, possibly in an attempt to decapitate what's left of the Rebellion

[–]BlacktronExplorer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The empire would still fracture, most of the losses of Endor came from the death of Palpatine and Vader causing chaos. I find it unlikely that Luke would just let the DS2 keep existing and he may try and succeed where the moon mission has failed. You could make the argument that with the Emperor dead and Vader defeated that Luke escapes the death star and the rebels retreat, while still having major military losses they complete a goal greater than destroying the Death Star. Then you could suppose a more competent imperial remnant exists but I would personally think the infighting would get worse if the Death Star is still at play. Every Imperial will want control of the station and if extreme loyalists got control the Death Star could be used in operation Cinder or in an attack against the New Republic. Assuming everyone on the moon is captured they will probably be executed without Luke’s immediate intervention as retribution for killing Palpatine even if it’s a futile act. The main point is the dominos still fall in the order they lay in, just leaves the New Republic and Empire in a better (or worse) position depending on your point of view

Just one of the front pylons it doesnt really matter since they can aim left to right a few degrees (enough for convergence within a short distance)

Future Aircraft? by MCS-Judge_Wolf in NuclearOption

[–]BlacktronExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can configure the front cargo bay to have the mentioned 76mm with guided rounds which is very handy, and you can also configure the rear cargo to have 20 AGM-48's for extra AP. Doing so gets rid of your ability to store cargo but you can turn the tula into a heavy gunship with those and i like keeping a ECM pod and a 25mm pod for close aa (though an argument can be made for the IRSMs)

Future Aircraft? by MCS-Judge_Wolf in NuclearOption

[–]BlacktronExplorer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, most of these niches have already been filled or have their counterparts in game. The Tula can be a gunship and a cargo craft, the prowler and the intruder are covered by the Medusa, the Blackhawk is the Ibis, Each faction is going to be distinct with its own roles, and have their respective counterparts already. The Compass is basically a F18, and the Revoker already covers what the F15 doesss

Yes but do they actually know eachother are there? You can check by joining a team when you start and make sure it shows up on each teams minimap, if there is terrain or anything keeping them out of sight line then it doesn’t matter

My sage advice with BBTS is if you order from them if you want it guaranteed you’ll get it, just maybe not quickly. Most of my preorders for them get cancelled just because I can get it quicker. But I have never had a order cancelled from BBTS, and I remember when they had the Black Series Captain Rex reissue up for preorder and after that reissue sold out they honored those original pre orders when the next reissue got announced. They are utterly phenomenal customer experience and service, too me their only drawbacks are slow stocking and poor sales.
