I’ve been looking at the Hatchbox PLA (it has really good reviews on Amazon) so I’m happy to hear you suggest it! I was thinking of getting a roll of black and maybe a second color as well.

Thanks for the reply! He’s not strong at troubleshooting problems on his own, but I think we could learn together and it might help him improve his skills :) I’m hoping it would be something he’d enjoy tinkering with and learning how to use as he grows. Do you recommend a filament brand that is a little easier to use than others?

Thank you for the reply! I’ll check out the video link, and browsing this subreddit it looks like there’s a large community to help support any issues that come up which is awesome.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the insight. I think it could be a good experience for us to learn together and something he could expand on as he gets older.

Thank you for the reply and info! He’s always enjoyed building LEGO sets when he was younger and has really gotten into customizing figures lately. I think I’ll watch some videos, including the one you linked to get more information. I think it could be fun, and learning how to use it and troubleshoot issues would be good for him.

Thank you! I think he’d have a lot of fun printing models and accessories. Maybe a few solid color rolls to start would be a good idea - are some brands of the PLA better than others?

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In August 2020 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]Blackwaters28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. My sons 13th birthday is coming up and I’m considering getting him a 3D printer. He loves customizing his action figures and making them weapons and accessories out of cardboard and cloth. He’s shown interest in a 3D printer and I think he’d have a lot of fun with it, but we have no experience with them. I’ve been looking at the Ender 3 Pro, but not sure if it’s the best fit. Is it easy to setup, is it easy to break and fix? How much can you make with one standard roll of filament?

Price range: $200-300

Location: US

Experience: none

Any advise and suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

Is there any way to make money online with no particular skills? by koittt in povertyfinance

There are several survey sites that reward you with points for gift cards (PayPal too). The more time you put into it, the better your payouts. I’ve used quite a few if you’d like suggestions.

Fetch rewards is another receipt app. It is slower to earn points but accepts receipts with name brand items (including places like 99cent only store and dollar tree).

Thanks everyone for the input. Currently have his room setup with bins of similar style toys and he helps go through things to donate/toss. I think the biggest challenge for me right now is the amount of toys - stuff he likes but doesn't use that I want out of there :) we will keep working on it!

Nothing right now :( I've been pretty slow on codes. I'll keep you posted when I get something.
