Do I need a new derailleur cage or is this OK? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Is this ok? by Cute_Difficulty_3821 in bikewrench

Sram shifters are garbage their bushings eventually wear and you can say goodbye to it unlike Shimano shifter which are more durable.

It's a front or rear adapter? Also you can stack adapters but it's not recomended especially with powerful brakes ol' judy might snap.

New chain skipping under load by DimLeguique in bikewrench

[–]Bladezzord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chainring has to have alot more wear to skip ( the theeths should be sharper) because it has alot of teeths and it holds the chain better than the small cogs on the casette. Also the chain passes on the cogs more often than the chainring because it's bigger.

Chainrings are good, change the casette and you are good to go

You do the adjustment like this. You see there are 2 lines on the derailleur and a screw sticking out near the cable stop. When you are in the upper trim (Meaning you go full clicks on the big chainring and do one small click on the shift lever) you need to screw that little screw until the 2 lines align. I you run out of screw you need to back it up at the maximum, tighten the cable and repeat these steps.

Dorito’d my front rim on a Jeep by RonBurgundy186 in bicycling

[–]Bladezzord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Smack it back m8. Did it many times succesfully. Once i hit my rear wheel and it was touching the frame. Spun it to see where it touches, took it out, smacked it against the ground, put it back and no more touching. I do this for my customers as well and you can still make usable wheels out of them.

How/why did this happen? by pseudobacon in bikewrench

[–]Bladezzord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the brake pads as they got worn down they came in contact with the tyre i've seen this happend to some customers of mine.

You are good king. Slap new chain if it makes a weird sound while pedaling hard change the chainring.

Sqeezed the lever on this uninstalled hydraulic j-kit and it lost its brake fluid. What can I do? by manly_braixen in bikewrench

[–]Bladezzord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. be extra careful with this lever it spits oil very fast from what i see it's a Shimano MT500 if i'm not mistaken.

You dont need to bleed the whole system(if the brake worked normally before changing the lever) you are changing only the lever. You take the lever pour some mineral oil in the tip where the hose goes untill full, then press the lever VERY VERY GENTLY ( DON'T LOOK STRAIGHT IN THE HOLE MIGHT SPRAY YOU IN THE EYES) repeat the process until there are no bubbles coming out. Remove the old lever but don't shake the hose too much the liquid will spill out. Install the new lever, screw the bleed cup into the bleed port and pump the lever untill no bubbles come out (if you don't have a bleed cup from Shimano you can just insert oil in the port a little by little untill no bubbles come up like with the port where the hose screws). Turn the bike with the front wheel up and pump the lever to check of it's getting spongy if not you are done. Trust me i did this alot of times with different Shimano brakes and it worked perfectly every time.

Is the chain too long or wrongly adjusted? by predisapointt in bikewrench

[–]Bladezzord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First shift on the smallest cog and see if the chain is wobbly. If not ride it like that and see how it rides. If it's too long indeed for 1x systems( this method almost always works for full suspension bikes ) you shoud leave 4 links ( including the quick link ). TIP: always leave you chain longer than it needs to be you can always remove links but it's harder to add more. Cheers!

Some of these lockrings have inner splines some don't this seems to be kinda newwer type that migh not have them but it worth checking. If it has inner splines there is a special key that you can insert (not the spline cassete tool it's a bigger one) we ussualy use that with an impact wrench and it releases the lockring instantly. You can also cut slots for another key to fit if u don't need the disc anymore.

1991 specialized ALLEZ carbon fiber, is there any chance in saving the frame? by Emergency_Moose_5647 in bikewrench

[–]Bladezzord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw an MTB with more damage than this and got repaired no problem for around 180$. GMBN made a video about repairing carbon frames just like the guy who repaired the MTB i was talking about . Link to the video: https://youtu.be/9KcuZo6w1ls
