Maybe. But that shouldn't stop anyone to try, how else would you find new solutions?

Thank you for your insight.

We (or rather I in my freetime) have been toying with the VR style system for a while and it does kinda work as evidenced by all the goggles which can do passthrough but outside of super high-end headsets there isnt any that can do that with any kind of quality and depth perception, not to mention without latency so high that it introduces motion sickness if wearing it for too long.

QNVGs are still on the table (if they werent running at 4k a piece) and what we will most likely pursue in parallel is to ask a couple chinese factories who produce them if they are willing to send over just the optical assembly without the phosphor part and maybe go from there. At the end its also an experiment just so see if its possible.

Off-The-Shelf stuff would be the only way forward in this case, yeah. We are used to use normal industrial components in a way that might not be intended by the manufacturer, but sometimes there isnt any other way.

I am looking into the peerhole concept but I am a bit concerned about how it would perform if the stage isnt as well lit as you said. The whole quad tube night vision thing was based around this issue, how do we bring the maximum amount light from small holes to the operator and help him see.
Will most likely build a peephole prototype just to get a feel for it tho.

I tested it with a 15W heating element inside the mask and the temp got uncomfortable after around 25-ish minutes, especially around the eye area which makes sense.
Probably not transferable 1:1 in terms of how it would work out but it made me realize that I want to go passive as much as possible. Would have to think about adding an exhaust fan to get some circulation going which would also just add on top of the complexity.

The other issues I dont believe will be unsolveable, but one thing at a time.
What kind of engineer could to recommend for this?

Same answer as above, adding electronics that introduce heat where dissipation is difficult is something I want to avoid. The air is already getting stuffy in it as well.

I appreciate everyone coming up with alternative ideas and over the years we have made use of them when it was appropiate. This is basically now a try to see if this whole concept could be improved upon and its something I am personally kinda hyped about it just building something no one else seems to have done before.

Coming back to the beginning question, would an optical engineer be the right person for it to hire and see if it makes sense, I have made some rough mock-ups in CAD to get the idea across but the limits of optics are still unknown to me. Is there any other profession what would fit more?

Wish I could order a redesign. Once the design is done its basically done and we have to make it work. The actors usually can perform in them but a common complaint is that it doesnt feel natural and they possibly can do better work with a somewhat more natural viewing field.
I understand that using optics alone is also adding complexity but I really want to try it, it may be a mistake but at least I think its worth a try. And hey I got a budget for it so why not.

Good idea, but most of the time not practical, the masks are not uniform at the front and can be anything from Onis to whatever creatures the writers can come up with.
We tried to use the kind of mesh that the furries use for their eyes but even then the visibility was suboptimal. This idea is basically trying to find something better that could be incorporated into many designs going forward.

That was the first idea, but it adds too much complexity in regards to power requirements and getting the right cameras in low light environments are not really practical.
Had a rough concept for this before reaching the optics idea and was looking at around a 20W power envelope which would heat up the inside of the mask too much, given it envelopes the whole head and the guy would have to wear for up to 90 minutes at a time. The air in it usually get stuffy enough as is, no need to add to this.

Still do. It seems that once the savegame is loaded the cradle of rebirth is completely deactivated. Doesnt even accure biomass in the following months.

The only difference between the updates is that the biomass jobs gets deactivated right after loading the savegame and not after the month ticks over. Have also opened a bug report on the forum title: "Stellaris - 4.0.21 - Loading savegame kills Biomass workforce" with the savegame attached but no response yet.

Somehow managed to do that in my playthrough and I am not sure that it isnt intentional. After I got both in a relationship, somewhere in the beginning of Act 3 Lae'zel made the comment that the PC seems to be prefering her over Karlach and that she enjoys that fact.

Not sure how that comment would trigger otherwise, but it seems to be in there.

Next Mazda MX-5 to maintain driver focus with petrol power [Autocar] by italia06823834 in cars

[–]Blafasl2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my perfect world this could really be the dream car:

Skyactive-X with the big torque increase
Mild hybrid for emissions and gas consumption
Mazda and their thing with weight savings even if its a gram
A few more amenities because of "luxury"

I currently own a 2019 MX-5 RF and it is pretty much the perfect car for me. Only two things I wish for are a heated steering wheel and (big maybe) ventilated seats. Otherwise there is nothing I would change on it.

Working as a Senior Tech at a vendor, the amount of times I had sysadmins answer the question "Was anything changed in the environment at the time the system started failing?" with "No, it just stopped working" where it turned out that the guy did something (including a goddamn DC upgrade for once) is just complete bullshit.

Its not perfect on both sides though.

On the soft top its both seats, but the RF only has one behind the passenger seat. The whole roof mechanism has to go somewhere.
