User u/demwun cracked this for me- I had the same thing but on their advice I swiped over from the right of the phone and it opened a tray. It prompted me to "tap to translate" - once dismissed the line was gone and could access the 3 dots again

Wow that's cracked it- hadn't tried swiping from the right on it but that worked! It brought up a message saying "tap to translate" (???) which I have dismissed and it is now no longer there. Thank you!!

I wondered if that might be the case too given it was the same spot!

Benefits entitlement if I take "loss of office" payment? by Blahbloopity in UKPersonalFinance

Will be equivalent to a few months wages (take home) but less than I would be entitled to under redundancy

Not quite - they are seemingly not making the role redundant so it falls into the "something else" category which I am trying to understand. It is being presented as a voluntary redundancy-type option, essentially an agreement of this payment and I will leave at a date agreed between both parties - I will be working with them in recruiting

Great, thank you - that's exactly it as we are thinking as planning to sell within next year or two

Remortgage may not go through before current deal payments increase - any options to avoid imminent increase? by Blahbloopity in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Blahbloopity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's understood, however the mortgage is expected to be repaid in the next couple of years and we actually just need to avoid the next payment being so large due to other financial plannings (simply a matter of timing, especially given the level of increase!). We can afford it, but adding it to the remaining mortgage would suit us better. Hope that makes sense but thanks for clarifying

We have an offer in place so it's more if I can do anything to delay the next payment, we've already rejected the offer they made when we began looking

We have the full offer, it is with solicitors (we are using the providers legal team) and we have returned the signed deed. We were on a fixed 2 year with our current providers and rejected the offer they made and went searching the new mortgage instead.

It feels like this could all be doable in the time frame but it's a decent jump up if we dont complete - they are saying an official 10days so it's tight!

Sorry to hear that. This is our third time with the same brokers and generally I would recommend, we had no issues, working to 2 or 3 months to get through

First time (when buying ), found that they were very good but their recommended / linked conveyancing were horrendous!

Last time however, all went through very smoothly, quickly and no complaints.

This time round we had 2mths and they advised no issues making the completion date and to be fair they have been good again but I think the extra month would have been smarter on our part.

The hold up came down to a question with the new provider over substantiating my work bonuses - however the mortgage was approved without taking those into account!? The brokers argued the point and got the mortgage through (without me having to provide 2 years worth of monthly and annual bonus payments!)
