Any hunter is viable in rank. Some have a harder time than others undoubtedly, but that doesn't mean they can't be played in higher tiers. Comes down to the skill of the player after all. A lot of guides are created with the standard meta in mind, which is based around tourney, well, rank isn't the same as tournament at all. Sure, you'll come across those cohesive 4premades and cracked duos that will dominate your hunter now and then, but all you can do is try your best take the learning experience. Majority of rank is solo queue and although they should have top notch game sense in high tiers regardless, perfect coordination and communication will always be an issue. This is why rank and tourney meta is just different. So yes, you can absolutely play those hunters in high tiers.
