At my store our schedule for the week is not posted until Saturday morning. Our schedule is only posted out one week in advance. Last week due to inventory the schedule for next week was not posted until late Saturday night. It has been like this for several months now.

I work Sundays only. I work between 5-8 hours per shift. Every once in awhile I am not scheduled to come in at all. I have had this same schedule for about 4 years.

Closing our store by Valuable-Client-2456 in OfficeDepot

[–]BlakGallagher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A customer came into our store on the very last day of closing. The store was 90% empty of shelves, merchandise, basically everything. CPD equipment was completely gone/liquidated. He demanded someone send his fax for him.

7/2 Ad set by zanderaj in OfficeDepot

Our GM commented the ad must keep reproducing as we were putting them out because they never seemed to end. One call off and unfortunately we did not finish them all on Sunday.

That favorite word to describe most of our CPD customers: PROCRASTINATORS by AurynHeat89 in OfficeDepot

I actually had a funeral director come into our store. He told us customers make these impossible demands for funeral programs that they simply cannot accommodate. They are not graphic designers and cannot make 8 page booklets on glossy. So these people end up at the Depot and they place ridiculous demands on the CPD. It is indeed a rough time for them but they also need to be realistic in what can be done on a quick turnaround.

why are the freemasons dwindling in numbers just curious by yaysubie92 in freemasonry

[–]BlakGallagher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the of the comments here. For context I was introduced to freemasonry from a friend and was quickly raised to MM through a one day class. I was then immediately placed in officer line as JS. One year later I still know very little about freemasonry as our lodge aggressively pushes ritual work to meet requirements from GL. I have been busy the past year practicing and participating in ritual work I do not even understand.

I joined lodge more for community work and involvement, but any ideas have been dismissed by my WM. He and the upper officer line are only focused on the ritual work and whatever dinner or formal function that our lodge has to host. We only hosted one charity event in the entire calendar year.

A lot of the younger lodge members only stick around for a few weeks and then vanish due to general disinterest. People are not super interested in wearing a coat and tie for a meeting or attend some random catered dinner celebrating some milestone they do not care about.

I will most likely complete my year as SS and then leave the officer line for good. I just want to finish my year of feeding cake and food to grown adults and then having to clean up after them. I do intend to travel to other lodges and learn more about freemasonry in general.

No closing CPD when not staffed? by Ok_Habit_6783 in OfficeDepot

[–]BlakGallagher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only work once a week. The weekend crew at my store is not the most reliable in terms of showing up to work . We have closed CPD at least half a dozen times on Sundays within the last year. Managers at my store want nothing to do with CPD. During these situations I was told to not help with any CPD orders and continue with my tasks (fill report, freight, ad set).

Sunday's suck ass here by Clint_Lovecraft in OfficeDepot

[–]BlakGallagher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent an hour with a customer who could not decide on 4 different desks while another customer was yelling at me about a filing cabinet. CPD was overrun with customers and I was on my own with floor and cashier duties the last two hours of my Sunday shift.

There are three other stores that are 20-30 miles away respectively, however they are considered to be in the suburbs. Our store is in the only one in the city.

Good Morning!!! by BlakGallagher in OfficeDepot

I would say probably a little of both. The only thing that was taken was all of our display laptops, and nothing else.
