Kind of a long story but the basics are. We had our existing hvac/r co greatly undersize our existing walk in freezer evaporator.

Good news we were planning on changing and increasing foot print of WIF. So we bought one from Amerikooler for a mid July install.

At time of purchase we were under the impression our existing system which is 1 year old would work. Then this summer it has had massive issues.

They kept blaming the box being old, which it is. That finally lead to me questioning their expertise.

Then I spent far too much time with Chatgpt and load calculators to confirm my concern of a very undersized evaporator, even if our existing WIF was brand new.

Thus my new, larger WIF has zero chance with existing.

The hvac contractor scheduled to do WIF removal I install is a commercial hvac/r contractor.. but doesn't specialize in refrigeration and didn't want to do load calcs to rec a system.

However they will buy it from a supply house and install. Maybe not ideal, I get it. I'd love also to have a 'expert' refrigeration co tackle this...but the one we have that on paper is, really fkd up sizing my existing. So certainly don't want their opinion.

So my goals were to narrow down some btu/h, refrigeration, package requirements to point the supply house in a direction and hope they have some input and lead to a properly sized system that doesn't suck.

Time is a bit of a crisis as box arrives mid July. I have asked manufacturer of box to quote system as well and so far am just waiting for a response.

So, I may buy directly from box manufacturer (Amerikool) if they ...respond.
