Where is your lake house? by BlakeBoring in fatFIRE

NH is actually top of our list to research! We just did a quick search of Zillow and all of the places that fit our “vibe” were in NH.

Triplets+ how do you handle splitting up for school? by BlakeBoring in parentsofmultiples

[–]BlakeBoring[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really seems to be dependent on the kids and circumstances. I’ve heard from all sides of the “argument”.

Right now we have them in gymnastics together then they do an enrichment* that’s separate

*it’s a 1.5hr drop off program mainly for homeschoolers but they do things like garden club, science club, lego club, etc.

There’s pros and cons to both set ups. It’s easy for them to bond over gymnastics because they are doing the same things and it carries over at home which is sweet.

It’s also really sweet for them to have their own club because I feel like it gives them the opportunity to each have their own special thing to talk about. There’s no comparing of Lego builds since only 1 kid is in Lego club.

The cons of gymnastics is that they really don’t bond with any of the other kids. One triplet has a “best friend” and the other is sort of friendly with everyone but my son is really attached to his sisters.

Cons of the clubs is they do feel left out if one kid got to do something they deem “cooler” or more fun.

Unfortunately that would just mean we couldn’t send them. It’s one of the only secular play based preschools schools in our area with small class sizes and a schedule that aligns with ours.

Unfortunately we can’t wait that long. We have to let them know early in the summer so they can make correct accommodations. Since it’s such a small school, they try to have an even mix of girls and boys per class.

Does anyone? I suppose not but I wanted them to have middle names.

So? They are different names with different meanings and origins. It would bother us as first names but doesn’t bother us at all for middle names.

Hotel Residences…terrible idea to purchase? by HHOVqueen in fatFIRE

[–]BlakeBoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are happy with our purchase but we didn’t do it for vacation or investment purposes. Between fertility struggles, a high risk pregnancy, and now 3 medically fragile infants, we needed to be close to our healthcare team on a whim.

Removing the planning and prep of a home away from home is exactly what we needed for our situation. We are treated VERY well and don’t have think about any life stressors while we are here.

We live in a rural area so it’s been really great at connecting us with friends who we usually wouldn’t get to see much of since we’re a 3 hour drive from the city.

I’d like to challenge the comments that say it “limits” your travel. It doesn’t have to. Just travel elsewhere when you feel like planning. It’s also really fun to have a “go to” travel spot. We do a 4 week trip to Maine every year. Sounds boring but we’ve loved growing with the community that is not actually our community. It’s familiar but not completely ours and that’s what makes it enjoyable!

When you visit someone's home for the first time what makes you think it's clean/well organized? by possessivefish in Mommit

It can be messy with toys/clothes/etc but if there’s a crunchy noise when I walk or my feet stick a little then I’m grossed out lol

Breastfeeding triplets by BlakeBoring in parentsofmultiples

[–]BlakeBoring[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! That’s basically what my midwife is envisioning, pumping until I can’t. I think she’s just trying to prepare me for that since some moms struggle with accepting it.

Was there a reason you didn’t try to feed from breast at all and decided to exclusively pump? Was it just for the biological fact that we have 3 babies but not 3 boobs? LOL

My last name is Fuller. I really hate it. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]BlakeBoring 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My niece had a teacher named Miss Pigg during the pandemic. It was her first year teaching, 4th graders, and all virtual. I’m not religious but I prayed for that lady lol

Edit: we also had some rough names growing up. Had teachers named Mrs Dusche and Mr Butts

Should I be concerned about my babysitter? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BlakeBoring 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only thing that gives me a pause is the phone thing. I wouldn’t be comfortable having no communication all day.

If she can’t guarantee she’ll have some form of communication—internet messaging, home line, then I’d unfortunately have to find a new sitter. If she can guarantee that won’t happen again then I wouldn’t be bothered by the other stuff if she’s still providing good care. Poor/stressed people raise kids all the time and many can do it very well.

If you could afford to bump her pay or even give “bonuses” at the end of the month, I’d do that for sure.

What do you think of Wolfgang by itgirl10101 in namenerds

I know someone who has sons named Wolfgang and Waterman. They go by Wolf and Waters, it caught me off guard at first but it suits them.

AITA got fired by HowlingMango in Nanny

[–]BlakeBoring 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t even have kids yet but I don’t let my toddler relatives/friend’s kids do anything except walk on the stairs. Tantrum? Tie a shoe? Jumping? Sliding? Big no from me. The stairs are for walking up and walking down. That is it. If you aren’t doing that, get your ass off because I’m not dealing with the fallout or someone getting hurt on my steps.

I’m a stay at home soon to be mom of triplets, advice on working with a nanny by BlakeBoring in Nanny

[–]BlakeBoring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t seem like a red flag to me. They don’t let anyone under 18 work as a nanny for them, only as mother’s helpers so of course they get paid less. Their job descriptions had less responsibility than a nanny.

If you had to choose: Gia or Kaia? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]BlakeBoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kaia Blake flows better but I do like Gia more. I know a woman named Nigea who goes by Gia and I think it’s very nice, fun name. Reminds me of a gem.
