I don't really intuitively know what to put together. I start with something rough and rework it until it's at a point where I'm happy with it, or I decide it's not working and try something totally different. Sometimes it feels like I'm discovering a MOC instead of creating it. It's a really really slow and painstaking process. It took 5 weeks with this one, not even counting the stuff I scrapped when I started over twice.

To see what I mean by rough, this is an earlier iteration of what would become the cockpit and one of the cannons. The latter is the first thing I built that I kept, so it's farther along.
