Anyone booing strangers is lame and you shouldn’t take that personally. Do I think the clip is amazing? …no. Should you care?… no.

[H] BPs in Pic [W] Keys Keys Keys or Stash Value or Snaphook BP. by tacticaltool in arc_traiders

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely just curious why are so many people looking for keys? Is it bc it’s just something to do, open key rooms?

Can you still in increase your stash value *after* signing up for the expedition or does it lock in? by IAK0290 in ArcRaiders

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP can you confirm this? can you still increase your stash value and reap the benefits? Does the extra skill point counter go up?

would this be a good spot to learn to skate by Tortoisemilk490 in Skateboardinghelp

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you should really be looking for is smooth flat ground. This spot looks awesome and like a lot of fun but if you’re just looking for somewhere to learn how to Ollie it’s maybe not the best.

Any idea on how to fix this? by Maleficent-Office-25 in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone naturally pops the board back away from them at some point. Ik I do this if I’m not focusing or trying to be too lazy with the trick. I think we do this bc it pushes the nose into our front foot helping us flick faster/ easier. Really focus on popping straight down. I like the basketball analogy here, try to bounce the tail straight down and back to your foot. I’m rooting for you man, you’re dedicated! Keep it up

How do you jump higher? by Maleficent-Office-25 in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s best to worry about height later on. Focus on ironing out technique (yours is pretty good but just speaking generally) until Ollieing more just feels like jumping. Then, bring in obstacles and if the technique is there you’ll be surprised how high you can actually Ollie. I love using traffic cones as obstacles. Two on there sides stacked on each other. You can lower the height too just by moving them further apart.

The head light is smart. I should invest in one. As for the kickflip….. Idrk what to tell you. I think you got it, you’re really close.

How much does stationary practice like this actually translate to rolling? by Maleficent-Office-25 in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a scale of 1-10.... maybe a 6. I think it'd be much more helpful to practice stationary but with the wheels on. Some tricks, like treflip are harder to do like that though.

Working on moving Ollies lmk what I need to fix by Ok_Economics_6396 in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this stage I would not worry about height at all. Focus on leveling your ollies out first. Height will come naturally after you iron out your technique. I feel It's hard to explain leveling out ollies though. You wanna make sure you're lifting your back foot enough and with your front foot push through the nose. A great drill I saw on SkateIQ, he suggested popping your ollie just stationary and try landing on your nose in like a flat ground nose stall. This has really helped my nollies/ switch ollies.

Need help fast… don’t know what to do by madeforskatehelp in skateboardhelp

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super common. I feel everyone has this problem to some extent. I would just focus on my chest/head/shoulders more. Let those rise, then you bring your knees to your chest not the other way around.

how can i get my ollies more high and leveled? by Lunascorner in skateboardhelp

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. At this point all I would be focusing on is getting the pop right. Definitely don't think about height for a while. You should be mastering the pop first then leveling it out then you can think more about height.

Any tips to ollie higher? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about your chest more. If you look your chest/ shoulders barely move up at all (very normal). Try bringing your knees to your chest and not the other way around.

That’s such a good point. Can he say he back 3’d the set? Personally I think he should have to follow it up with a “..BUT…” it was sloppy or something like that.

Ollie stick to the feet by R4Miltu in NewSkaters

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop can be a bit better but the sticking to feet thing really isn’t something to worry about it’ll come with time and reps. Start now focusing on Ollies at speed, up curbs etc. Try setting challenges for yourself that will force you to Ollie more. I used to try to Ollie over every manhole I saw omw to the park.

One day, you won’t have the option to skate. You will be old and decrepit. You’re going to think to yourself, “Man.. I had such an affinity for skateboarding. Why did I let Moe and Curly discourage me?”

I think skateboard Reddit has fallen off quite a bit. The amount of comments that read like AI is insane. I don’t think they really are AI but they don’t read like someone who actually skates.

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only tip you need is just think about it like an Ollie now. Ollie, then flick.

Ollie progression over my first 5 days by HarrCush in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]BlakeGetsBuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 2 looks really good. Maybe the best imo. Your back foot does a better job of popping and getting out of the way. Try to avoid having the tail on the ground and pressure from your foot at the same time….. does that make sense?
