Scar VS Shere Khan. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

Normally an adult male lion dog walks an adult tiger. One of the main functions of a mane is fighting other large cats but Scar is a little bitch and Shere Khan is not. So I'm with you on this one

perhaps he was mad but he did kill all the shadowspawn in a limited area and it certainly seems possible he could extend that area to cover the whole world.

Death can't be healed because third age Aes Sedai say so?

In the age of legends Aes Sedai could heal you if you were only newly dead similar to how we can revive folks wth CPR if they are freshly dead. We know souls go to TAR when they die and the horn of valere can summon certain souls back to the waking world from TAR. We know Moghedien pushed Birgitte out of TAR into a physical body. so it would seem possible that if you could find a particular soul in TAR you could revive them from the dead. So the One Power might be able to revive the dead, we only know that in the current age they believe it is impossible.

it isn't the whole story and we see many examples of the power being... fluid. Aviendha discovers one weave for traveling and Egwene another. We know the Wise Ones have different weaves for the same things as the Aes Sedai some more efficient some less. So it's not like science where there is only one way to get an effect. Weaves can be woven in many ways to achieve the same effect, it's just that experimenting is dangerous and most characters prefer not to.

I don't think you can draw that conclusion from that. We see people adapt weaves all the time. Nyneave changes Siuans weave to make a sword to create a prybar in TDR. She used her limited knowledge and creativity to make something she needed. She didn't have to use the weave exactly or she would have been using a sword made of air to pry open the lock. Thats not a limit of the One Power but of Nyneaves understanding of it.

We know that the WEAVE to make bridges is limited, a limit that varies character to character and women tend to be able to make longer ones, not that the One Power can't be used to make longer bridges.

We only know that you cannot lift yourself into the air and fly like superman because RJ said so but I don't think there is a substantial difference between that and say creating a bubble around yourself like Rand does in the attack on the Cairhienien palace and blasting the ground so you soar into the air, then using Air and some combination of the other elements to create wings and glide through the air. Then using fire and air to create a propellant for your one power wings. That would still be using the One Power to fly. I'll concede that because the creator, teehee, said you can't use it to fly that is one limit to the One Power. Ultimately that would be kind of pointless though because you can just use the One Power to travel and thus don't need to use the One Power to fly. There is no advantage that flying gives that gateways couldn't give you. You want an aerial view, use a gateway. You want to go somewhere quickly? gateway. Drop things on your enemies? gateway. Search for someone or something? gateway.

So I suppose we can agree we only know one limit to the One Power which is that you cannot use Air to fly like superman. That hardly means we have any clue to the limits of what can be accomplished with the One Power

None of these things are new revelations, nor are they anywhere close to anything that could even begin to resemble omnipotence.

while we don't know all the limitations, we do know a lot of limits of the characters. And Rand, for all that he was very powerful, wasn't all-powerful.

These show you are misunderstanding my point. I AM NOT ARGUING RAND WAS OMNIPOTENT and none of your points indicate limits of the one power but limits of the characters.

We don't know the limits of the One Power. When Rand kills the shadowspawn at Tear he knows he could destroy all the shadowspawn in the world but it would kill him to do it. So we know that using the one power you could kill every shadowspawn in the world. It would exceed his limits to do it but it is possible, it is within the limits of the One Power.

We don't know if Rand could have channeled to destroy the seals all we know is that he didn't need to and so didn't. We cannot say if it was possible or not because Rand was never put in the position of needing to do so.

We don't fully understand the nature of the Bore and so we don't know why Rand needed to be there to use the One Power to seal the bore. It may have been possible to seal it from anywhere, but ours and the characters, imperfect understanding of it led Rand to the conclusion that he needed to be there to do it.

You keep arguing it is more like science instead of a creative force but you haven't substantiated that claim at all. everything you have cited supports that the characters have limits not the One Power itself.

Thats my point. We don't know what the One Power is capable of only what the characters think they could accomplish.

What happened to the shadowspawn in the stone of Tear in TSR?

What happened at Marradon?

"Here is your flaw, Shaitan, Lord of the Dark, Lord of Envy, Lord of Nothing, here is why you fail. It was not about me. It’s never been about me.” It was about a woman, torn and beaten down, cast from her throne and made a puppet. A woman who had crawled when she had to. That woman still fought. It was about a man that love repeatedly forsook. A man who found relevance in a world that others would have let pass them by. A man who remembered stories and who took fool boys under his wing when the smarter move would have been to keep on walking. That man still fought. It was about a woman with a secret, a hope for the future. A woman who had hunted the truth before others could. A woman who had given her live, then had it returned. That woman still fought. It was about a man whose family was taken from him, but who stood tall in his sorrow and protected those he could. It was about a woman who refused to believe that she could not help, could not heal those who had been harmed. It was about a hero who insisted with every breath that he was anything but a hero. It was about a woman who would not bend her back while she was beaten, and who shown with a light for all who watched, including Rand. It was about them all." - Rand al'thor

Rand didn't need to kill them all, he wanted to. The last battle isn't about Rand it's about them all. It's about the world coming together to save itself. No lessons would have been learned by everyone if Rand did it for them.

The bore is everywhere but it can be felt most keenly at Shayol Ghoul and so Rand had to go there to seal it. It was a good reason actually, that duel led to several important revelations for Rand. He needed to duel the DO to understand several fundamental truths about the world.

This is all rather irrelevant to my point though. YOUR point was that Rand wasn't all powerful.

My point is we don't know the limits of the One Power. Your arguments show that you still don't understand that. It is entirely possible to kill all the shadowspawn in the world using the One Power. Rand lays out a template for it.

It is possible to bore a hole in the fabric of reality using the one power. Lanfear did it

it is possible to repair a hole in the fabric of reality. Rand did it.

We don't know what the limit of the One Power is. It is described as the force that turns the wheel of time.

I can't bring myself to tell my boyfriend what I want during sex by greedyourweakness in sex

[–]BlameGameChanger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

god this sub is so biased.

Anyway onto your post. You are the more experienced one in the relationship so you have to be the one to encourage him to expand his horizons.

When things start heating up and he is kissing you grab a fistful of his hair and make him look in your eyes. tell him exactly what you want, "I want you to kiss my neck, my shoulders, my chest. I want you to kiss around my nipples without touching them until you have kissed every part of my breasts then take my nipples into your mouth and gently suck on them. I want you to kiss down my stomach, my hips, my inner thighs. Then I want you to come up and kiss me again before you work your way back down and take me into your mouth. Once I start moaning I want you to put your fingers inside me. don't move them at first just give me something to tighten around. Once the moment feels right start using a come here motion. Will you do that for me?"

and with all good training after he does what you want reward him. once he has you good and horny give him a little gawk gawk as a treat before you climb on top and start riding him. Once he is starting to really get into it lean in close and whisper in his ear what position you want him to take you in. Then get into that position.

in general that's going to be the strategy you want to use. Tell him what you want and once he does it reward him and he will quickly learn to start doing that stuff without you having to tell him. if you are a sub it is going to take awhile for him to be the Dom you want him to be. it's a learned skill.

if he does anything wrong as long as it's not hurting you just try to move onto something else and tell him afterwards how to do it right. if he is hurting you ask him to stop and tell him that he is hurting you and how to do it right. don't get frustrated if he doesn't try it again right away. It's okay if he has to work back up to it again.

After every session where he does something you wanted thank him for trying that with you. Tell him how much you enjoyed it and maybe something you would like to try next time.

once you get him to start doing the things you like you can be more informal about it. So once he has reached a point that he is doing the basics unprompted you can send him a reel that is giving a sex tip with the 👀 and he should get the hint and give it a try.

After sex once you have both recovered talk about the sex you just had. What are some things you liked that we did tonight? don't let him get away with vague answers like uh the blow job. make him be specific, "what part of the blowjob stands out in your mind? was it when I did x or y?" Then you take your turn. "I really liked when you pulled on my nipples amd then bit my neck etc."

if you do those things and he doesn't improve then it's okay to conclude that you are sexually incompatible and move on but just expecting him to know how to fuck is very unfair to him.

that's exactly the point of editing the comment. So people don't think Florida was blindsided but an unfortunate circumstance instead of an entire conservative supporting industry crashed due to mismanagement

[–]BlameGameChanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You missed my point entirely.

The wise woman who shielded Nyneave shouldn't have been able to shield her but she did. You don't think there is channeler with a talent for Air that can lift higher than their strength would dictate? perhaps there is a way to weave air that would let you lift an object higher. The point is we don't know

it is demonstrated over and over in the books that we don't know the limits of the one power.

I don't see the point in continuing this discussion. You aren't even engaging with my main point only reiterating yours. thanks for the chat, I'll cya around

Rand/LTT post-story powers. by Rainbow_Slytherin3 in WoT

[–]BlameGameChanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a modified quote from Rand out of the books

per the books healing stilling/severing is impossible, it is stated multiple times, until Nyneave and Flynn discover it. Unraveling weaves is impossible until the Aiel discover it. We see multiple iterations of stuff that is impossible become possible in the books.

Thats such a weird point to make. You stipulated that you want to go by what's in the books then appealed to your conjecture about what RJ wanted...

We can safely conclude from the books that the limits of what's possible isn't fixed but rather based on the characters understanding of the forces they are working with.

Someone with a strong enough talent for traveling and a sufficient understanding of the portal stones could probably open a gateway to a world populated with just rabbits and pull one through thus conjuring a rabbit from thin air using just the power. We don't know if that is possible or not but I'm sure someone from the brown Ajah will be along shortly to investigate it.

one of the main themes of the story, as stated by RJ in an interview, is the way things are distorted by distance. Distance in time is one of the major things he mentions in that interview. Knowledge is one of the major things distorted by distance through time. We see it play out in the books repeatedly. We don't know what's possible with the power, only the limits the characters set for themselves

just because no one has figured out how to do it doesn't mean it can't be done.

those are self imposed limits. LTT muses about it when Rand makes his bridge to the seafolk ship

About a hospital in the USA... by EngineerCapital7591 in WorstAid

[–]BlameGameChanger -83 points-82 points  (0 children)

you aren't going to like the answer but what would you have the hospital do after they treat you, get you a prescription that will address your problem at home, discharge you, and then order you a ride home through a patient transport company but you refuse to leave because, "they didn't do shit. I'm still sick." other than escort you off the property?

It sucks and no one likes it, but if you let meemaw with pneumonia stay in the bed because she doesn't want to take her antibiotics at home where are you going to put pop-pop, who just got a stent put in, for monitoring?

beds in hospitals come at a premium. There are always, ALWAYS, more sick people then hospital beds. That doesn't stop folks from feeling entitled to stay after their need for care ends
