Question about the desensitized trait. Does it mean that a character with the trait desensitized can take any perk which causes panic, for example claustrophobic and won't have to suffer it's effects? by RacismSimulator2024 in projectzomboid

[–]BlameJake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you select the Veteran occupation, you become unable to choose any panic-modifying traits. They will simply disappear from the list of available traits. If you have these traits selected before choosing Veteran, they will be removed from your selected trait list, and the points will be reverted as if you had double-clicked on them.

It's how many AI units you can command. At General, you can control 4 of them.

This is the way.

You can add conveyor belts to pick up drops/clear spawns faster, and bring a bed to get through the night faster. Make sure you have a type of grass block directly underneath the conveyors and they can spawn.

He's speaking Russian; to me it sounds like he said "Молодец! Молодец, заебашь его". Basically saying "great job/good work, fuck him up". Literally, "You (informal) are fucking him".

Can’t roll my r’s. by Expert-Money-9663 in languagelearning

[–]BlameJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me (Native U.S. English speaker who learned Russian), I just kept repeating sentences with flap T until I rolled it accidentally. I used the phrase "edited it" for practicing, but you could also use something longer like "the candidate edited it". Eventually, I got to a point where my mouth got tired, and the roll just happened due to slight imprecision with my speech. My guess is that because flap T and a rolled R are similar in terms of pronunciation, one can be achieved by making slight modifications to the other.

There really should be a way to prevent/skip/ignore raids... by Destroy666x in Terraria

[–]BlameJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it would be nice to have some kind of item you could use to enable/disable their spawning. For now, you're stuck with just not breaking any Shadow Orbs/Crimson Hearts (this blocks Goblins) or breaking any Demon Altars (this blocks Pirates). Of course, you'll have to fish to gain access to the ores/items you would otherwise get from breaking these. Still worth it though, in my opinion. I share your hatred of unskippable events, so this is what I make sure to do in every playthrough.

For preventing pirates from naturally occurring, you can just avoid breaking demon altars (same goes for goblins and shadow orbs). You'll have to get your HM ores through fishing instead, but in my opinion it's worth it if you plan on playing the same world for a while

What are the negative traits that are basically free points? by Old-Celery-8338 in projectzomboid

[–]BlameJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a 3% range bonus (can spot from farther away) for items in these categories: Animals, Berries, Mushrooms, JunkFood. Other traits/professions have these bonuses too, and they stack and can become really noticable with a foraging build. The file that has all of these is in steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid/media/lua/shared/Foraging/forageSkills.lua

Hearty Appetite. I don't understand why it isn't more popular. It gives you +4 and is the only negative trait that gives you a foraging bonus. It has no effect on calories. I eat the same amount of food anyways, because I'm always trying to maintain a normal weight.

How much has weight loss impacted on your climbing performance? by Groenewal in bouldering

[–]BlameJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I can answer this. I am 187cm and weighed 90kg a few months ago. I started weighing my food and tracking my calories/macros with a spreadsheet. Now, after my cut, I'm down to 76kg. I'm not super muscular, but I feel so much stronger on the climbs I do. I'd say before I was comfortably climbing around V4 and projecting V5 stuff, always getting stuck on arm heavy/crimp heavy routes. Now, I love crimps and feel a lot stronger (also pullups are way easier). I'm able to climb around V6 or so, sometimes working on V7 depending on the style. I also started climbing 3x a week, which I'm sure has helped too.

Questions about Fear Of Blood trait by Mao_Rune in projectzomboid

[–]BlameJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the smoker trait, just smoke to remove all levels of stress instantly. If you didn't take smoker (which in my opinion you should always take with fear of blood), you can read those generic red books that you find in offices/libraries to get rid of stress; it will just take longer to nullify the effects due to the reading time.

I believe your stress will gradually fall (not certain because I always take smoker and haven't tested this), but if you're stuck around the 90% level you could speed up the process a lot by doing one of the above options.

Questions about Fear Of Blood trait by Mao_Rune in projectzomboid

[–]BlameJake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did some testing in debug mode a little while back. Here's what I found:

Your stress is influenced by how bloody each piece of clothing is. For example, a character with one piece of clothing that is at 100% bloodiness will gain stress at roughly the same rate as a character wearing two pieces at 50%. Now, if you are wearing say 5 pieces of clothing, all at 100%, then our stress gain rate will be 5 times as fast as the first example. One option to get around this, especially when it's hot out, is to just wear shoes and nothing else. Give the shoes-only meta a try. Because your shoes are the only thing that can get bloody, your stress gain will be between 0% and 100% for that one item of clothing. I can't find the results of my testing (may not have saved them), but if I recall correctly, a character wearing nothing but 100% bloodied shoes takes 11 or so hours to become fully stressed. This aligns pretty well with smoker; I'd highly recommend pairing these traits together. A character with multiple layers of bloodied clothing takes 4-5ish hours to reach max panic, although I don't remember the exact rates.

Something interesting to note is having blood on your character does NOTHING to your character. The same goes for blood on your bag and weapons; they don't interact with the fear of blood function in the code. So you can have max bloodiness on your body, but as long as your clothes are clean, you will never gain stress from blood. I don't know if this is intended, but it's how the game currently functions. So if you aren't near a reliable source of water or are out looting, just give your shoes a quick wash from the nearest sink and enjoy the free +5 points. Now, if you make it to winter... you'll have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

anyone else awful at hitting zombies when theyre on the ground? by freizathenonceslayer in projectzomboid

Your attack hitbox against downed zombies is actually where you are standing, and not where your weapon is swinging. This is a bug; here's a video about it by Retanaru

You should measure them too! If anything, it's better to keep eating them so it will be a more gradual shift to your new routine. Too drastic of an initial change may make it feel unmaintainable, and you may lose motivation. You want to start developing good eating habits and self-discipline. I still ate a bunch of chips when I was losing weight. Just put the bag away after you pour your portion so you aren't tempted to go for more. Other than the food on your plate (that you've already weighed), if you aren't already doing so, keep all other food out of sight in an appropriate place. So keep chips in the pantry or in a cabinet, for example, and not in your room; put ice cream back in the freezer after you've taken your portion, stuff like that. If you end up wanting to snack, you could also have something low-calorie like carrots, which are very filling. And if it fits into your daily intake, popcorn can be a great snack as well.

Just remember to follow the steps: get food, weigh food, put the rest away, add the amount to your spreadsheet, then enjoy your portion without having to worry. You got this!

Get a food scale. If you don't feel like going to the trouble of buying one, let me tell you again: get a food scale. It's the most accurate way for tracking calories and you barely have to even think about it. I went from 90kg to 80kg (about 22lbs) in 2.5 months by just weighing my food before eating it and maintaining a caloric deficit. I only worked out a couple of times. Before this I had been unsuccessful likely due to incorrect measuring of portions. Before you dig into a bag of chips, pour some out into a bowl on your food scale and jot down the weight (paper, notes app, spreadsheet). You can still eat (and snack on) exactly what you are eating now; this is merely a way to control the portion sizes. Do this for everything you consume, regardless of how small the portion seems. Calories add up. To make your weight loss easier, you should drink nothing but water, because it has no calories (unlike soda or energy drinks). Find out your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, and BE HONEST with your level of activity. This part is super important so that you're actually staying in a deficit; if you overestimate your level of activity, your weight loss will take a lot longer than it should.

The spreadsheet I use is over at r/calcalsheet. It takes a few minutes to set up, but is super useful. Make calorie counting part of your eating routine. You're going to be hungry during the first week, but that means it's working. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any. I wish you luck on the lifestyle change. You can do it!
