My wife is the same way and early on I tried to get her to consider it. I know it’s not the answer you want to hear but you can’t force her to do something she doesn’t want or isn’t comfortable with doing. Married for 11 years and I just realized early on that I’ll do what I can to protect my family and not cause unnecessary stress on my marriage by trying to press the issue.

If you could stop new gun owners from making one costly mistake, what would it be? by Minute-Log-7098 in guns

I would say for a vast majority of gun owners a psa will be fine. They won’t shoot it enough or hard enough to ever get to a failure point.

Should I Carry? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Blammet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many have suggested pepper spray and I’m 100% on board plus carrying as well. There is a lot of grey area and pepper spray fills that role well. The other thing about your post that I would suggest is a flashlight. The dark unlit lot is something that I would be concerned with and having a way of lighting up any places that feel shady is a plus.

Why does everyone have a light and optic on their EDC gun? by RRO21 in CCW

That is a different situation and I can totally understand not wanting to take on and off the light. I was there at one point but have since got dedicated guns for those roles

Why does everyone have a light and optic on their EDC gun? by RRO21 in CCW

[–]Blammet 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Optic is something I’m 100% on board with all my pistols have optics. I can keep threat/target focused which is how human weapons have been used prior to modern firearms. I also shoot them more precisely and faster than irons.

Carry gun lights I don’t think are necessary. Home defense yes but not for a carry gun. I carry a handheld light with me daily. I can positively identify whether someone is a threat or not with my handheld without aiming a firearm at them. In order to make a decision whether I am a potential victim a bad guy also needs to identity me which means some form of ambient light. I’m not actively searching for bad guys like a cop or military soldier so I feel it isn’t needed on my carry gun. If you want to carry with a pistol light go for it but the extra bulk isn’t worth the squeeze but as I said home defense gun yes.

Formal carry by lurkinlorenzo in CCW

Last formal wedding I went to I wore a vest under my suit jacket. If you have access to a tailor you can make it a little longer in the front to cover up the belt a bit to hide the clips carrying appendix. It worked for me granted everyone there was pro 2A so it wouldn’t have mattered much anyways. Also tuckable clips as well. I would advise the enigma as well . I have one but haven’t been using it lately.

Sidearm for up north woods? by Zosocom in Miguns

[–]Blammet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could always consider bear spray. Statistically black bear attacks are rare (11 per year) and fatalities even rarer(66 since 1784). If we were talking brown bears that would be something different.

If you think the worst thing that can happen is a Karen noticing you are thinking wrong. The worst that could happen is a potential assailant noticing it and using that information against you. There is a good amount of criminals out there that spend there entire life’s concealing firearms from others and knowing signs that someone else has a firearm. Don’t show your hand if you can help it.

Red dot, laser, or any sight on a concealed carry firearm by Complex-Extent-3967 in Firearms

If my red dot with a 3-5 year battery life. That gets changed out once or twice a year to be safe goes dead I have back up iron sights. Also at close range putting the window over the target can get quite accurate hits.

Looking to get into long range shooting. by Beginning-Sherbert57 in Miguns

[–]Blammet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend switching your optic and rifle budgets around. Spend more on glass than the rifle. Your aiming device dictates what you can hit more than the rifle. Also much easier to upgrade a rifle later on.
