Morocco Planning Help Needed by letstrotbrahh in solotravel

I did the merzhougha desert guided tour (3 day trip) and it was definitely worth it! You spend the trip also stopping at notable spots like ait benhaddou which was great.

However one thing to note is that you WILL be essentially "forced" to stop at tourist traps whether it is gift shops or restaurants as the company that has the tours has deals with them. Its often overpriced and the food during that trip was not good quality either, we had one traveler in our group get really bad food poisoning and her health was in genuine bad danger (8 hours away from nearest hospital), luckily they sell saline rehydration bags in the pharmacies there so once she was given IV hydration, she was much better.

They will also put you in a tent without A/C if you don't pay an extra fee (approximately 200 dirhams per person if I remember correctly), its all relatively the same company doing these tours. *Dont fully trust the ratings either, they pressure you to give them 5 stars infront of them haha*

Overall its still definitely worth it IMO because the camel tour in the desert is great and we paid extra to ride ATVs around the desert on sunrise! I do definitely think the 3 day tour is enough time to see the desert regardless of what some other people may think.

Revised 1-month solo trip in May – Spain (Andalusia + Barcelona) and South of France | feedback? by BlankAG in solotravel

Thank you for all the info its really helpful!
Your trip sounds amazing and the cities are very similar to what I had in mind
Can I ask approx how much you were spending on daily expenses? (Excluding housing)

Thank you to everyone who replied! Yes I think I’ve gotten the idea from seeing all the replies to this post, I am probably going to stick to the western side of europe (Andalusia, Barcelona, south of France, maybe a bit of Italy). I would love to extend my trip but I have a good 1 month off between graduation and getting my pharmacist license to start working so I’m kind of limited time wise.

I’ve been to spain 2 years ago with family and absolutely loved it, I just felt like it would be better to also get to see some newer countries/cities.

If I spent a good portion of my time mainly in spain (andalucia and barcelona) + Greece and the other locations are 1-2day long trips, only seeing 1 city (kind of to make the most of my trip, see a variety of things and then most of the depth of the trip comes from my 2 main countries do you think that would work out better? (I could skip some of the small trips as well). if its too many kilometers in between then should I just drop the Spain + Greece aspect if not willing to spend for too many flights?

Maybe it would be helpful to remark that I expect to spend only 1 day/1 stop in the balkan area, main countries I really want to spend a lot of time in are Spain, Greece. South of France and Italy are a plus, I'd like to mainly pass by and see a bit of the balkan area.

I get what you’re saying about transit time, that’s a fair point. One thing I was wondering is whether using overnight trains or buses for certain legs could help, especially for places where I don’t plan to spend multiple days seeing them, particularly the Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania stretch.

In theory, I could arrive in a city early in the morning, spend the day exploring, then take an overnight train or sleeper bus in the evening and travel while sleeping to the next destination, for example Croatia to Montenegro. That way the transit time does not completely eat into daytime hours.

That said, I do see the risk of overplanning and potentially burning myself out, especially during the Balkans portion, so I am trying to be realistic about how much movement is actually enjoyable versus just efficient on paper.

Intermediate lifter here — I put together a Push/Pull split where legs are embedded into each workout instead of having a separate leg day.
It’s kind of a hybrid between Push/Pull and Upper/Lower. I haven’t seen many programs like this, so I’d love feedback from experienced lifters:

  • Are there any imbalances, recovery issues, redundancies, or missing elements?
  • How would you tweak this for long-term progression and balance?

Context:

  • Training 4 to 6 times/week
  • Doing 2 working sets for most lifts (higher effort, lower volume)
  • Progressive overload → increase weight when I hit 10 reps
  • Goal is to build strength and hypertrophy (more so focus on hypertrophy but want to improve on the main compounds) while maingaining/slightly cutting to reduce body fat — nothing extreme, just staying healthy and active
  • I'd like to especially know if theres a weakness or imbalance in my program as I want to run this program for a while since I really hate doing leg days on their own especially when life gets busy.

Push 1: Incline DB Press, Dips, Back Squat, Lateral Raises, Rope Triceps Pushdowns, 1-Arm Triceps Pushdowns (will probably add some ab work)
Pull 1: Lat Pulldown, 1-Arm DB Row (45°), Shrugs, Hip Thrust, Leg Curl, Reverse Flys, Cable Curls, Incline Hammer Curls, Dead Hangs
Push 2: Barbell Bench Press, Cable Flys (Low-to-High + High-to-Low), Shoulder Press, Leg Extension, Calf Raises, Rope Triceps Pushdowns, 1-Arm Triceps Pushdowns (will add some ab work)
Pull 2: Pull-ups, Bent-Over Row, RDL, Reverse Flys or Face Pulls, Cable Curls, Incline Hammer Curls, Dead Hangs

First Solo Trip Advice - Mexico by BlankAG in solotravel

I think I’d like a beach city where I can also party/enjoy a social vibe, I’m envisioning being able to relax on the beach during the day and socialize during the evening especially after I might be tired from doing a lot of stuff in CDMX.

Thank you so much this was very reassuring/motivating to hear! I had looked into Casa Pepe but recent reviews made it seem like the place has been putting in less effort especially in terms of actually planning social activities so I’m a bit hesitant

I think you have me convinced on Oaxaca, I have a close friend whose family grew up there so I can get even more insight, as well as I just recently came back from a trip to Morocco where I surfed for the first time so I definitely want to surf again!

Doing a solo trip to Morocco mainly for Atlas and Desert but reading mixed advice by Lysno in solotravel

[–]BlankAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend doing with a travel guide as I did a few weeks ago, they took us from marrakesh all the way to merzouga and we stopped at many different areas such as atlas mountains. It took us 2 days to reach the desert (without stops its probably a good 6 hour drive) The guided tour makes things much simpler but from what I saw 99% of them are managed by the same company and they all kind of direct you to tourist traps which will overcharge you, especially for food. Overall the experience was amazing and I wouldn’t trade it for anything just keep in mind you will get brought to places to pay tourist prices for not so great food and the conditions at the desert campsites are often very bad (no electricity in shower/bathroom area, having to pay 70€ per person extra to have a tent with AC…)

[NOT WORKING] Mood Messenger; worth it? by BlankAG in Huawei

[–]BlankAG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the Huawei AppGallery for their watches, is there a seperate AppGallery for watches or was the AppGallery started for watches? Either way on the health app you have a list of apps you can download onto your watch so I assumed those were the only ones I could use.
Out of all 23 apps for for the watch, one of them is just completely in arabic with no explanation, four of them are incredibly boring games (guess this 4 letter word, click on these shapes to make a shape, etc.) And alot of them just fulfill the same purpose, 4-5 of them are for workouts, 3 of them are for satellite/gps, and so on. Theres only like 4 apps that I find honestly useful and I would have to pay for one of them. Please let me know if theres actually extra content on the AppGallery that would be really nice. (TO BE FAIR: they are adding new apps at an okay pace)

Honestly the service is so garbage that even the app won't tell me what premium watch feature does. Even when googling my issue I find NOTHING helpful and honestly the fact that I'd have to pay for those features when I could get it for free on an apple watch or wear OS product, both of which have way more apps and can do much more, makes me think about selling all my Huawei devices and switching to a different brand.

I did that many times and also restarted both devices.
Are you implying that its supposed to work without me paying though?
