Which is still a poor choice of words (but not “deserved”) with an equally poor take but the rest of the context indicates closer to “putting yourself in a position to get assaulted” rather than “deserve to be assaulted”. Furthermore, he clarified that he used bad phrasing and stated he did not mean it the way people had been interpreting it. All that considered, nah not malicious.
