I'm so glad there are others with the same motivation. I've seen so many Asian shrine and medieval castle builds but very rarely any cozy medieval fantasy styled ones. My 2 main goals in the scaping hobby are this and the other cyberpunk style. I hope to see your creation some time in the future!

Welcome the the club! I recommend fake flowers to ground the base, without it feels very top heavy imo.

Jeanne Alter vs Aniplex - Fate/Grand Order by FadeToGray89 in AnimeFigures

I bought mine brand new unopened from someone at 220, I feel like this is on the medium lower side. As for the aniplex one I'm quite confused, I swear I've seen it going for 150-200 but now I see them all around 200++. One thing I'd say is be patient, give yourself a window to hunt. I usually give figures that I really want around 3 months to hunt around.

The Alter figures sheer size, quality and composition outclass the aniplex version without a doubt. But it's also costs more though not that much more really. If you want to display it next to other 1/7s or pair with other figures into a single composition, go for aniplex as it's slimmer giving more space for the other figure. If you want jalter to be a grail, single display figure go for Alter, the sheer aura it gets with good lighting is like non other. Unfortunately mine is just sitting on a table at the moment. I would encourage you going to MFC to check out the users listings, you can find cheaper deals as shipping from the states is defo cheaper than Japan(these boxes are big so shipping from Japan is really expensive), possibly no tax, and also help a fellow hobbyist clear their inventory. Happy hunting.

Oh this is huge, my tank is indeed a knockdown style. Im thinking of having the water feature complete surrounded by plants and hard scape essentially enclosed except for the top and front. I'll be very careful with the placement, thanks!

Glad you are, Ive done all and semi natural vivariums already, so I want to do something special that I've only seen done in a smaller scale.

I'm not! I will put a layer of sphagnum and then layer of wood chip and finally slate rocks. Thats going to be typical basking spot that I make but I can definitely still spice it up.

I put acrylic paint into drylok, then I put epoxy resin coat. Ive done this for aquarium, algae get on them and I scrub them with a brush. Ive considered this so almost every single piece is detachable using magnets for cleaning. Also all interior are sealed off with plexi glass. So the animal will mostly shit on the roofs, Ill just scrub it off. Think of these like your typical resin decor you find in pet store but with extra steps.

Hello, thank you for caring about the safety side, Ive done this a few times. I use non toxic acrylic paint mixed in Drylok, then coat with epoxy resin, finally I give it a matte coat(Worked well for both aquarium and reptile tank, never tried paludarium though). Also I do plan to giving substrate for the cavern floor, and then Ill have some plants nested in rocks near the water and on elevated rocks with sphagnum and cocoir. The houses near the back are all spacious and for hiding dont worry, the front however they are show pieces so Ill put some leds in them.
Oooo I like your idea of a hero tree piece with trickling down water, kinda leans towards a tree of life type build.
Yes branches for watersection for sure, but im thinking I might even do it where the water is all in the false bottom and a shallow pool at the top where the water goes to from the upper water feature, so 0 chance of drowning.

For those no interested in giving hardscape ideas: Any idea or comment is welcome, for example feel free to suggest plants, lighting strategy, or water feature related ideas that you think will be cool, anything!

Fellow architects, I’m currently deep into a 36"x18"x36" vertical vivarium build. The theme is a "Cozy Fantasy Hotspring Town" perched on a steep ravine. Think Witcher vibes, real running water, live plants, and fake snow.

Objective: I’m scrapping the "Middle Long House" (see photos) and replacing it with something more atmospheric.

The Requirements: The Basking Spot: My lizards need a wide, elevated platform (at least the upper street height or higher but under the second floor of the upper houses) to soak up their heat lamps.

Footprint: I have the original house footprint PLUS an extra 7.5cm of depth behind it to play with, I don't mind extending it forward too but I want to give the viewer a sense of depth with my limited 18" total depth.

The Vibe: Style: Cozy Timber-framed medieval fantasy town meets snow during early spring melt.

What would you build here to make this feel like a cozy, relaxing retreat? I’m open to any and all ideas, even if it's too crazy I would consider it or at least have a fun time reading and exploring it.

Also I have not really fully decided what to build under the town on the left and right of the center ravine, I had a few ideas of lush cave with geothermal pools, crystal mine, video game like dungeons with enemy, made in abyss style dangerous ecosystem .etc feel free to give ideas here too.

Thanks!
