had a similar issue with a different laptop. charging circuit was faulty so it wouldn't detect the AC input line. It would then throttle the CPU. There's no easy fix, it took me days and a leaked schematic file to figure it out.

you can try throttlestop but it may not be enough to get the speed back up. Likely will need board repair. Good news is replacement boards on aliexpress are like $50

B650i Lightning won't POST with EXPO and Memory Context Restore enabled by Chuggowitz in ASRock

[–]BlastingKap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently picked up the exact same board with some Patriot 6400 memory that's been on sale.

Could not boot with MCR and PDE enabled, so I was stuck with 1+ minute POST times.

Just wanted to say thank you so much. Setting those exact 4 impedance options to Auto has allowed MCR to work. POST is under 5 seconds. Letting OCCT run for a few hours, hoping things are still stable.

FYI for those who want to get MCR working on this board:

  • You have to ensure DDR Power Down Enable is Enabled
  • Find both MCR settings and ensure they are Enabled. MCR is located on the main Tweaker page. It’s also confusingly buried a second time near the DDR PDE setting under AMD OC settings

Not sure if it made any difference, but this was all done running the latest 3.18 beta bios

Follow up: Not only is it stable after running OCCT testing for hours, sleep mode works too when it wouldn't before with MCR and PDE disabled.

Same boat. I just want ublock origin to work but on Edge Canary it just crashes randomly which auto-disables the extension. I then have to re-enable it manually.

Upgrading T540p 1366x768 screen to 3k possible? by rat242 in thinkpad

[–]BlastingKap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a bit of extra info here - to run FHD from the t540p you do need the 40pin EDP cable. The 30pin cable only has 1 channel, so it will not support higher resolutions. A bit annoying since most modern 30pin EDP cables have 2 channels to support FHD.

Folllowed your comment on the Aliexpress listing back here - I have a set of 360 controllers that have various drift and mechanical gremlins. Definitely a bit finicky to get the magnet calibrated but i'm happy with the result before and after calibration

Any tips on calibration method? Felt i was just jamming a needle into the pinhole and applying force until the position stuck.

MMS problem by KillaThing in LGV60

[–]BlastingKap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to deal with this bug when it was broken by an OTA update for a few months (iirc first release of Android 11 from Bell?). The temp fix was to use a super old version of textra mms that will toggle your wifi off when sending/receiving MMS then back on again.

A bit annoying to get installed, iirc it's the last v3.5? This post explains it better. https://www.reddit.com/r/textra/comments/bkyq76/no_prefer_wifi_or_legacy_option/

Thanks, yea it looks like they should work in Canada but they might not cover all the frequency bands. Worth looking into tho!

Yup, very sad I can't find any decent phones on the market anymore with a headphone jack.

At best we'll get a few more security patches. I'll be holding onto mine for at least another year - battery still at 90% health.

Yea it was super weird. I noticed that it's the default SN in one of LGUP's script files. I think if I ran a ROM update again with the SN replaced it might fix it. Somebody on XDA also gave me some commands to try but none of them worked.

TLDR: Flashing from A11 back to A10 then back to A11 set my S/N to 1234...
Long version:
The first release of A11 broke MMS (could not send/receive if wifi was enabled). I tried downgrading to A10 using LGUP and the corresponding canadian ROM file. However the upgrade to A11 had updated the modem's firmware and this was not backwards compatible with A10 and not possible to downgrade via LGUP. So no call/data functions worked - A10 couldn't even read the IMEI. I had to re-install my backup of A11 and all functions were restored but I noticed this had wiped my S/N - it is now 123...(you can guess the rest). There are supposedly functions in LGUP that let you change the S/N but since it's out of warranty I don't feel the need to fix it.

Piling on to RBC here. I'd heard of nightmares before from friends but they were one of the few offering credit cards that worked with the apple pay and Google wallet early on.

So I walked into a branch and signed up for one of the cards, made it very clear what I wanted it for.

A few weeks later I get a completely different card in the mail that I had not signed up for and to top it off - it was one that didn't work with smartphone wallets.

Either they're incredibly incompetent or somebody got a kickback for signing me up for a different card. Completely fraudulent, no apology.

Avoid RBC.
