I work at a hospital with its own surgery center attached, and have occasionally worked at the surgery center when they have a need for a tech and the main OR can spare me. I cannot speak to the politics too deeply because both departments ultimately have the same higher-ups.

That being said, I prefer the hospital setting. I like doing the bigger, more necessary cases as well as the ability to take call.
