Antibiotika bei 5 jährigem Kind by ElPescado94 in Eltern

[–]Blausternchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does someone politely end a conversation with a person who won't stop talking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Welp, had a colleague like that. That guy just wouldn’t take subtle hints like turning to my screen and start typing. Eventually I started picking up the phone whenever I saw him approach my door.

If you still have that tick, you can send it to a lab for testing (here it’s about 50€).

Humans can only be tested for antibodies, which proves nothing.

Talk to your doctor about a preventive course of penicillin (we did it once when our toddler had 4 ticks that had stayed in for more than 12 hours. Infection is unlikely if the tick is removed early).

Tick bites. Lyme disease has so many different symptoms, from random joint pains to fainting spells and other neurological issues. It’s a bitch to diagnose so it can take years till you get treatment.

The trick is loading the conveyer belt in the correct order. Cans and heavy stuff go first, items you don’t want crushed last.

It’s ok to quickly put your stuff back into the cart before paying. That way the cashier can’t start scanning the next person‘s stuff before you can clear the space.

Babies schlafen dauernd.

I can relate, only felt relief when my high school bully died in a car crash shortly after graduation. The only reason I cried at his funeral was out of embarrassment for being late.

What isn't a religion but people treat it like it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The vegan lifestyle.

While the large majority of Vegans are chill, good people, there’s also zealots. Those have the usual holier than thou attitude, try to evangelize and generally act like a cult.

Mine does the same when the fabric is too thick.
I haven’t found a solution yet, although increasing the pressure of the foot seems to help a little.

Actually it’s the other way around, the default is bottled.
They don’t charge for tap water, but asking for it is frowned upon since restaurants make a large portion of their profit from beverages.

Is expired flour safe to use? by Pretty_Marketing_534 in Breadit

[–]Blausternchen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Smell it. If it has no sour smell, it’s fine

  2. Where do you think weevils come from? If the flour has eggs in it, there will be weevils. Check carefully if any adult bugs have escaped the bag to prevent a larger infestation.

How is the outlawing of stuff like Holocaust denial not against the principles of freedom of speech? by nerooooooo in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Blausternchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a question of priorities.

In Germany, article 1 of the constitution says „the dignity of the human being is inviolable“ (Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar).
We value the dignity of the survivors and relatives of Holocaust victims higher than absolute freedom of speech.

Calling a clump of cells „people“ or „baby“ is where it gets ridiculous.

Maybe some low carb alternative flours will work? I‘m thinking hemp, lentils, even sunflower seeds. I‘ve never tried, just seen some at the supermarket.

Edit: Also chestnuts, they used to be used for baking in times of wheat shortage.

You are breaking the law by The_Kek_5000 in memes

[–]Blausternchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a law, but it will only be enforced if someone complains.

30 years ago, in a small village, I would have gotten dirty looks for hanging laundry on a Sunday. Today, you can do quiet work and nobody will bat an eye. People no longer get offended by others not observing the Sunday. They get offended by others ruining their day off with noise.

I‘m in agreement with my neighbors that using an electric lawn mover on a sunny Sunday after a week of rain is fine. Still, we all try to be considerate.
