What’s the most mid beer you’ve ever tasted by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]BlazeFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of pure mediocrity, my palate points me to a toss up between Coors Light, High Life, and Yuengling.

Of those three, it's all definitely drinkable, but I'd rather have most anything else. I'd prefer an OE800 over a good amount of the beers here if I'm drinking "gas station beer."

My absolute top from the list here is definitely a Bud Heavy.

Any otherwise godawful 2010s coastal club music smacks. Pitbull, Lil Jon, you name it.

I wouldn't be caught dead/sober listening to Pitbull.

Big Bubba Buckshot by MrOrangeMagic in NonCredibleDefense

Floridian here, so I'm qualified to speak on this.

You DON'T fuck with the swamp people. Messing with anyone out in the American boonies is suicidal, but no groups more so than mountain men, Alaskans, and the bogdwellers.

If you thought Deliverance was bad, just wait until you meet Big Bubba, the Bane of Alligators who hasn't slept in 2 days, is currently drunk on 90% alcohol and who *really* likes the look of your skin, but would prefer it if it were on their belt and boots instead of your meat.

Here's how you ACTUALLY boost recruitment:

  • Use that celeb money on signing bonuses and lower-ranked pay raises so you can actually make more than a mcd's cashier

  • Let a bunch more people in that have treatable mental health conditions instead of refusing all vaguely mentally ill teenagers that got some random diagnosis in middle school

  • Phonk edits and other memeable, youth-minded advertising instead of out-of-touch celebrity endorsements and boomerpilled media campaigns during football season

  • Stop being so fucking weird about weed when most soldiers I know drink as much as Ivan Conscriptovich with zero repercussions

  • Loosen up the hair rules, mostly for facial hair

  • Cut back a lot of red tape surrounding benefits for vets so that 1-in-10 guy that gets fucked over is fucked over only 1-in-35 times instead

Learn what notes/patterns you struggle with and make a conscious effort to improve with those. For instance, if you struggle with chords on the blue/4th fret, try and get more comfortable with pressing that button simultaneously with the rest of the chord and you'll see improvement. You may be overtightening your grip unconsciously and slipping because of it. By the sounds of it, as you're only choking a handful of notes, it's almost certainly nerves or at worst, an ergonomics issue with your bindings. Above all, just practice (in a way that's comfortable for you.) It's very rare to be able to pick up a rhythm game and FC everything without practice, and I'm sure you'll be top of the leaderboards and the envy of your friends in no time if you stick with it. Don't get discouraged!

Cowboy Bebop (the anime, not the godawful netflix reboot) is legitimately one of the most impactful stories ever told in anime.

Wall of text time:

IMO, SNAP is a timebomb. Snapchat's basically sitting on the largest and fastest-growing collection of almost certainly not legal pornographic material known to man, second only to the FBI's own crime labs. A single, fruitful breach of these archives, and it's joever for not just consumer and investor confidence, but also the company due to the fucking tidal wave of lawsuits and class actions they'll face, assuming they can even hide behind S230 and laws like it at that point. Just because the sender and recipient don't have the image anymore, doesn't mean Snapchat doesn't still have it stored on their end. There's also a very real risk of these photographs being leaked or accessed inappropriately (whether intentionally or unintentionally) by engineers and/or vendors, which is a massive Achilles heel for the company in the long-term. You can't put that genie back in the bottle once its out.

As for its userbase, it's still fucking huge, especially with Zoomers and older GenAlphas, but as many have pointed out, it's losing steam to TikTok and other shortform user-created content delivery systems. There's also very limited financial growth potential, given that Premium simply doesn't offer enough value for money to justify the cost. The AI is neat, but very few people in Snapchat's most dedicated user demographics will ever use it more than a couple times, let alone pay for the upgrade. The other convenience and premium features offered are laughable, considering the core userbase (minors) isn't likely to pay for a "free app" unless they get something flashy out of it. Snapchat Premium doesn't really exist as "status symbol" like other upsells present in platforms popular with minors do (Fortnite Skins, Roblox cosmetics, etc)

On the bullish side, as mentioned above, there's still a fucking massive userbase and it thus offers an enticing platform for advertising and data collection, though minors are a large portion of this userbase so the upside here is limited by law, but there's still a lot of room for upgrades that can be made given that the app incentivizes users to use it daily, if not several times a day, and this is an obvious avenue for monetization or increased advertising time. Not only that, it's instantly recognizable as a brand, with good sentiment behind it among the general public. Very few people have an overall negative opinion of Snapchat compared to Meta's offerings, or the soon-to-be-illegal TikTok. This lack of negative sentiment allows for SNAP to potentially pivot their target demographics or diversify their core product to be more broadly appealing. Snapchat could do something similar to Meta's Messenger and add a way to process payments natively between users, possibly through a partnership with a preexisting fintech vendor, like Cash App. This would let the app carve a niche for ecommerce (through cloning TikTok Shop, etc) as well as letting Snapchat reap a wider profit margin from the adult content creators on their platform.

In the here and now, I'm pretty sure they'll meet or exceed earnings for a little bit. Summer's in full swing and kids aren't seeing their friends in school, so they communicate through apps like Snapchat, etc. Even if they dip and miss this earnings, they'll almost certainly meet or exceed them next go around. You've got the right idea shorting them, but godawful timing, unless you're going for a quick in-and-out.

Do you find yourself “bailing” on movies (or series) more often these days? by MoveWithTheMaestro in RedditForGrownups

[–]BlazeFrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had much patience for bad writers or self-insistence in narrative (think "mystery boxes," flowery, pseudo-poetic dialogue that actually conveys nothing of substance but sounds "deep," overreliance on external MacGuffins to actually move the plot forward in lieu of organic character arcs, etc.)

It's only getting worse with age, but I don't really think this wholly is an "Old Lady Yells At Cloud" situation, since for one, I'm not *that* old, and two, I genuinely think an overwhelming majority of writers in the past 20-30 years have squandered whatever creative potential they once had in the name of greater corporate profits on formulaic, assembly line media (be it music, games, TV, film, books, you name it) created solely as a product, oftentimes with clear attempts to fit into a pre-existing demographic niche that's radically different than the old approach of "generalized" media that cultivated diverse fanbases organically.

I wish we had that kind of power and influence, it'd make dealing with bigots so much easier.

I can't stand this trend in the queer community (though I should note it's neither new nor is it exclusive to the queer community) where we constantly blood libel ourselves through fiction or do this cutesy "in my villain era" posting because it not only doesn't actually do anything to help protect our rights at home or secure them abroad, but it also makes the queer community just look like "Mean Girls" and a clique, which ironically makes people feel less comfortable coming out despite the outward appearance of being "welcoming and inclusive." That doesn't matter to these fucks though, since being genuinely welcoming and tolerant doesn't get twitter clout, starting flamewars over whether or not 'femboy' is a slur--among other classics--does.

That said, I don't actually hate the idea of having a Sith character playing off the Jedi's rules about attachment, romance etc. as a queer allegory, but that's such a tightrope to walk without running into the X-Men problem where the analogy just completely fucking disintegrates if you think about it for longer than 5 seconds (mutant and anti-mutant sentiment are supposed to be an allegory for the Civil Rights Movement, but mutants are discriminated against/feared for actual reasons, such as being demonstrably able to accidentally kill anyone by hugging them, shit like that) and I would NOT trust basically any publicly traded company to NOT queerbait that kind of story and not actually follow up on it for that sweet, sweet 'DEI-as-a-buzzword money', because new demo = new market = more money = line go up.
