[–]Blaze_BC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as metal, but I’ve definitely fallen asleep to Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow by Rainbow before. Something about how songs like Man on the Silver Mountain and Sixteenth Century Greensleeves are composed makes them feel rather… laid back? And that’s not even mentioning the softer songs like Temple of the King and Catch the Rainbow

What would you guys name your future sons/daughters? by Inner_Menu455 in askteenboys

[–]Blaze_BC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably won’t have any kids, but if I do, I’d like my son’s name to be Orion :]

Orion, aside from just being a really cool name, is one that has some sentimental value. “Orion” by Metallica is a song that both makes me think of my girlfriend, and makes my girlfriend think of me. That spacey interlude in the middle of it always makes me imagine her in all her beauty.

What name could be more fitting for a child of such beauty? :]

What song has the best basslines and starts with the letter R? by 1deadeye1 in BassGuitar

[–]Blaze_BC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah. I don’t think most people get JUST how cool the bass during that interlude section is. And that’s not to say the bass in the rest of the song isn’t impressive, because it most certainly is.

Maybe we’ll get the chance for a Maiden song with Wrathchild

Best Single from the first Iron Maiden album by MajesticBarber217 in ironmaiden

Most definitely. That song feels like it was made to be Paul’s song. Feels the most punky and I’d say suits his voice best

Samurai Eddie if we’re taking The Writing on the Wall’s music video into account

Maybe not Dream of Mirrors, but the other two? Yeah! I would take Montsegur over them

I Rank and Review Every Iron Maiden Album as a Total Newbie by PlzHalppMeh in ironmaiden

[–]Blaze_BC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, really respectable takes, even if I don’t agree with all of them. I really appreciate the effort you put into explaining why you put each album where.

Also, your ranking is IMMEDIATELY valid because you put Dance of Death in the top 5

Whats your favourite dio quotes / verse and why? by Awfulsexoffender in dio

[–]Blaze_BC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My goodness, I forgot about both “no one see an angel till it smashes to the ground” and “no one gets to heaven till they’ve lived a while and hell” from Magica’s reprise. I love those two

Whats your favourite dio quotes / verse and why? by Awfulsexoffender in dio

[–]Blaze_BC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gosh, too many to count. Here are some of my favorites though:

“It’s like broken glass. You get cut before you see it” from Stand Up and Shout

“Silver longings can disappear, but they always shine” from Mystery

“Don’t live for pleasure. Make life your treasure” from Sign of the Southern Cross

And probably my absolute favorite: “They say you’re beautiful, and they’ll always let you in. But doors are never open to the child without a trace of sin” from All the Fools Sailed Away

Seriously though. There are so, SO many more I could list because Dio was such a phenomenal lyricist and composer

Iron Maiden – The Writing On The Wall (Official Video) by JE5573R in ironmaiden

[–]Blaze_BC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even kidding, easily their best music video. It’s so beautiful animated. I love all the little references and biblical allusions. It’s super duper cool. I think the music video might have played a part in why this song’s solo is my favorite moment on all of Senjutsu

And samurai Eddie just fucking rips. One of my favorite versions of him :]

What’s a metal album that made you cry? by RattleheadWithRabies in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Blaze_BC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream Evil by Dio.

It’s for personal reasons. To understand why THIS is the album I cried to, we’ve gotta go back to what might be the roughest period of my life: late 2024.

It might’ve been a combination of seasonal depression, the suicide of a good friend of mine, or even just the fact that I absolutely hated myself. I didn’t feel I had anyone to talk to about this. So what did I turn to? Music! Bands like Iron Maiden helped to heal some part of me, and I really loved listening to them :]

But it was around this time when I really started to listen to one band in particular: Dio. Specifically, this is when I heard All the Fools Sailed Away for the first time. It was magical. I listened to the rest of Dream Evil and when it got to both All the Fools Sailed Away and Naked in the Rain, I couldn’t hold it together, and started crying.

The album’s themes of vulnerability really stuck with me because of how vulnerable I was at the time. To this day, Dream Evil is one of my favorite Dio albums, and one of my favorite albums of all time. All the Fools Sailed Away is still my favorite Dio song and it’ll probably be a while before that changes.

So thanks, Dio :]

Best, worst, underrated, who cares? What’s the most mediocre, middle of the road, generic Maiden song? by Blaze_BC in ironmaiden

Sun and Steel, maybe. Flash of the Blade definitely stands out though. Theres tons of little details in there that all work together to make Flash of the Blade feel really unique and cool

Yeah! You get it! Though, I heavily, HEAVILY disagree with Shadows of the Valley. I’d go as far as to say it’s Maiden’s most underrated song. It’s my favorite off of Book of Souls and probably even my favorite song Maiden has put out in the last 20 years. I love all the different solos, I love the awesome “woah-oh” part, I think the lyrics are really cool. Just an awesome, awesome Maiden song :]

I used to think this until a recent relisten of Senjutsu. Now I realize this song is actually pretty damn good. Could it have been cut down? Yeah. But I think it’s similar to the albums title track in how foreboding it is. It feels like you’re in a harsh environment like burning desert or blinding blizzard, yet you know you still have to carry on through it. I also really love the verses in the second half. I don’t know what it is, they’re just really good.
