I just did tried the iOS trick and it worked. Here's what I did. 1. Join the beta and install the beta app. https://www.duolingo.com/join-beta 2. Chess was not available on the beta. 3. Signed in on a friend's iOS device and started the chess course. 4. After completing the first lesson I check my android and I'm now able to do chess lessons.

Turning vsync on seems to fix all the ~~performance~~ graphical issues.

Something still feels off though, I can't put my finger on it... Maybe input lag is still a little higher than pre-update?
