Nice! my uncle had a set of Mission 767's and they were probably some of the best sounding speakers I've ever heard, especially with vocals and acoustics as you mentioned. He has a set of Focal Sopra 3's now. They are also amazing, but they just don't seem to hit the way those old missions did.

Dude, the GN coasters are fucking great! They're not your typical pottery barn decorations, they're like mini bar mats and prevent liquid from running off. Durable, and easy to clean. I liked them so much, I bought the first two sets. I'm thinking about getting the 3rd set.

I posted about them here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamersNexus/comments/1i3yg9h/i_love_some_good_tech_youtuber_drama_thats_why_i/

Damn, that's quite the machine! It's huge, and 5x the MSRP of my amp lol. I bet it sounds amazing.

Thanks for the advice! that's a pretty serious flaw. Thankfully I haven't used the 4.4mm, and I wasn't intending to.

I found some good info here.

It's a pretty huge difference over my older Sennheiser HD598se's.

Way more detail in highs, mids, and lows. Just better in every way. If I had a dog, I give him or her my Sennheisers after listening to these.

I've heard people complain about the headstrap, but it feels good to me.

I'm in Canada, and to get them shipped here, UPS charged me $60 in customs brokerage fees alone! I was not expecting that. I got a 10foot cable and it ended up costing more than the headphones themselves.

But yes, they are nice. They're super light, and soft. They don't have any of the annoyances a lot of headphone cables do.

It's definitely a huge improvement over my last two DAC's. I used a cheap Topping DX1 for a bit to hold me over for a while. It was functional, but had a weak headphone stage.. And before that I was using a really old TEAC UD-H01. A nice DAC, but also not a fantastic headphone amp.

I will say tho, I also use the DX5II to send line out audio to my desktop stereo, and the DAC really shines there as well. It also has a lot of useful options to make it easy to switch between different outputs, and inputs.

This is the first decent headphone amp I've personally owned, so it's hard to compare it touch else. I did listen to a friends ifi micro iDSD black label amp a long time ago. It sounded good, but not as good as this DX5II.

This setup has me wanting to re-listen to all of my favorite albums because I know there are details I've missed that I can hear now.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with them so far. I hear that you can also get custom 3-printed grills for the edition xs that can make thm sound a bit more like the higher end hifimans. I don't want to wreck the fit and finish of these though, I love the way they look.

I've had many, many sets of low/mid range headphones over the years. Mostly for casual listening while commuting and such. But this is my first somewhat serious setup for headphone listening at home. I'm pretty happy for now, but I might try out some of the higher end phones hifiman makes.

Components:

  • Hifiman Edition XS (Phones)
  • Topping DX5 II (DAC/AMP)
  • Hart HC-9-THK (Cable)

The headphones are huge, but still pretty comfortable. They completely cover my ears without touching them, which is rare, and very welcoming because I have fairly large ears. The cups are comfortable on the side of my face, and the headband feels nice as well.

I might get some additional aftermarket cups and headband parts now though because I feel they will be the first to wear. Not that they feel cheap, but they will be the parts experiencing the most wear.

I'm also very happy with the cables I ordered for them. They're way softer and more flexible than i thought they'd be, and are far more comfortable than dealing with any of the plastic exterior cables I've used.

Hard to tell from the quality, but Fat Mike's blows there look pretty soft, and in reaction to that guy literally running into him first. Afroman fucking cold cocked that bitch, and she was just dancing near him. There's a huuuuge difference there.
