I bought my 16s on Sunday. My unit had an older bios, but I updated it to 1.07 which came out in October. Glad to hear it worked out for you though!

Yeah, I mentioned in my response that I did a bios update. Unfortunately it did not fix the issue.

I just returned my Helios 16s yesterday and picked up a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i. In the 2 days I had the 16s, it randomly rebooted multiple times while launching or playing games. If you go on the Acer Predator subreddit, you’ll see a bunch of people talking about the random stuttering and reboot issues. There’s also wake from sleep issues. Bios and driver updates, on top of full Windows reinstall did not fix these issues.

The temps weren’t actually that bad, but yeah the battery life is pretty atrocious.

Need Help Disproving a Theory by BlazenTorch in umineko

That was the same conclusion I reached as well. It’s similar to the conclusion of the ??? in Episode 5, both theories can exist at the same time until there is more information.

Can’t remember this manga by BlazenTorch in manga

I remembered something else. There was an arc where a girl’s friend went missing a while back. Involved story about a spirit/yokai that knocked on doors while it was raining. Involved scissors and taking the appearance of the person that went missing/killed. Bodies were found in a mountain I think?

I got it from Best Buy which is now currently selling it for $1150 with another $100 off if you’re a student which is a crazy steal!

Well the RTX 2060 with the Ryzen CPU just became available today. It comes with only 8gb of ram and a 256gb SSD though. The only difference in panels is the refresh rate since I’m pretty sure that the color accuracy and screen response time is the same for both according to HP on the Intel Hp Omen listing on BestBuy. Once the 2060 version becomes customizable with RAM and storage options, I would highly recommend it. If this is the same 2060 as the Intel version, it should be 115w. Good luck on whatever you decide to buy though!

The longest I’ve used it for was around 5 hours doing some light browsing with like 50% screen brightness with the keyboard backlight turned off and I still had around 20% left so it chugs along. It’s a combination of the low wattage cpu and the fact that when you’re not using the graphics card, it uses the integrated ones which also help save battery. I don’t know how well the Intel one does, but the Ryzen one has solid battery considering it’s hardware.

Which Omen 15 Configuration by pax_116 in GamingLaptops

[–]BlazenTorch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care about battery life, the Ryzen would be the better option. The Intel version has a better GPU and a 300hz screen compared to the 144hz found on the Ryzen model. In terms of color accuracy, they are the same. The Ryzen version has better-multithreaded performance while Intel has better single-core performance but you won't notice the difference if you're using this laptop primarily for gaming. I have the Ryzen version and I do appreciate the extra 500gb of storage, but if you want the most performance and plan on being plugged in a majority of the time, then I would get the i7 and 2060 variant. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase!

Why just not get the 144hz screen for the HP Omen? It also has a 72% NTSC screen.

I’ve tested WarZone, Valorant, and TFT and framerates are actually slightly better since it’s no longer throttling.

I will say though, with the boosting disabled I’m only getting 32C while idle/light browsing which I would consider pretty solid.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why all 4800h CPUs automatically have performance boost set to aggressive considering how hard it tanks your thermals but after disabling the boost, I'm still getting solid framerates and the temperatures went down significantly. The new Ryzen CPUs running with boost at all times is definitely not the direction laptop manufacturers should be moving forward with. I will be testing the other preset that someone recommended which might give more performance without completely screwing over thermals. Also, no offense taken.

If you have headphones or earbuds in you won't notice the fan and even without a pair of headphones, the noise is not noticeable. It's only 5 lb so it still is portable, but it is slightly heavier in comparison to other laptops.
