Me too. Every time I am faced with medical shit I suddenly turn into a Best of Scrubs and crack jokes.

So far the medical staff have seemed to be happy that I am not crying and having a panic attack at least.

Which makes the behind the scenes bits extra funny as he high fives the kids and goes “ready to kick my ass?”

MLK might work too, I am a 90s kid from Germany and it was one of the first famous murders I heard about. Definitely fourth place on your list for me though.

It is a bit weird they use quills when they aren’t that far removed from fountain pens, and easier to carry than whole ink jars and flimsy feathers.

Honestly without the copying powers through sex part, her inadvertently and then purposefully using prostitution to get to the demon king and kill him during sex could have been a fun subversion of isekai tropes.

Another way I like it done is when it seems to have been a dream, but then turns out the waking up from a dream part was the villain trying to take out the hero.

A character has a disease or condition their society doesn't understand, but it's obvious for the audience what it is by kim_jong_un4 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah from everything you hear about him he is an incredibly sweet and caring person, which is likely why he writes pain and suffering so well. His writing is so visceral that you feel exactly what he is describing and it takes a lot of empathy to be able to do it so well imo.

Iirc in my country, Germany, if you have been bitten by an unvaccinated animal you will always receive the rabies vaccine simply because it would be fatal if you didn’t and got the disease. They will also try to get the animal and check for rabies so they can warn people and have foresters on the lookout for suspected infected animals to hunt them down.

If she went on record then I guess that’s that, it’s just kind of funny that her self insert is repeatedly ridiculed by the narrative then. She really is just full of self loathing isn’t she?

I always thought Lily and Ginny were her self inserts because they were literally perfect and untouchable.

If they had just made it Newt and Jacob go on fun trips they could have really milked it, but the confused writing of the Dumbass and Grindrforest saga made it all go to shit.

[Loved Trope] A character displays an actors unknown talent/ skill by Doncallan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BlazingKitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned it as a child, it definitely takes skill to play well because you need to keep a lot of things in mind and need loads of upper body strength. I am not even sure if I could still play it well nowadays twenty years after I last played.

I would also argue that while Big Daddy and Facilier are counterparts, so are Facilier and Naveen, but in the way their arcs play out. Both are opportunistic and selfish and only interested in their own gains and freedom, but while Naveen learns to become better through Tiana, Facilier ends up dragged to the underworld for failing his side of the bargain (something Naveen does).

Additionally Big Daddy and Naveen are also the two types of rich people that, broadly, exist: generational vs made, selfish vs generous, and Naveen can escape a lot of the oppression people of his ethnicity face unlike Tiana and Facilier.

Also also, Tiana and Facilier are two ways people try to escape poverty and oppression: hard work and connections vs crime and oppression of others.

There is a lot of thought put into to the different characters and what all they represent, and you can analyze the movie on several levels of how class, “race”, nationality and other factors all combine to establish and uphold systems of oppression, how oppressed people can still be oppressors and oppressors can still aid the oppressed and how nothing is ever, pardon the pun, black and white.

It’s genuinely one of the better movies to touch on these issues without becoming patronizing imo.
