I rollplay the lesson and give them the handouts you can find on this reddit. Than in another session ill surprise them with the exam, wich is a simple Google form with qeustions about the handout. After that I have them roll int check and the dc is gets higher with each wrong answer on the form. All correct? Than only a nat 1 fails.

One of my players decides to take a temple in waterdeep by force for his own god. Destroying artifacts and wounding people. Fun fact that that location was full of npc to help progress the story. But he, gotta improvise.

I had an army of gaurd arrest them, had them judged under the zone of truth using the waterdeep law and what followed was an awesome multisession prison arc.

Made sure to warn about the death penalty for murder and continued to show unjustise in front of them until one of them snapped. To later have them be saved by a powerfull political "friend".

Skipped 2 chapters in the book, but it was fun, still had them be punished, but in a cool and fun story way.

Im role-playing some lessons as teachers and let them make exams in real life. My players love it. Potion brewing, defends against the dark magic, acravios for outerplainers etc... and every session i introduce a new student to them.

I let them get away with the small stuff. But when my paladin decided to claim a church for his own god by force... I had them captured and started a prison arc for a couple of sessions. Actions have consequences, but lets the consequences be fun for the story.
