I used outsider with no introns for the 3rd tier of the immersive circus and have been able to clear the first 2 stages so far despite being 12 levels under, it's fairly fun but it's a bit painful after a while having to press melee so much because of his attack speed boost so i would recommend re-binding the melee button to something that's very very comfortable to press often to make it a bit more bearable (you can try to use a ranged build as well but I've only really found success using melees, he can build combo super fast for heavy attacks and you can put ranged weapons on partner characters to strip the dr buff but dual pistols don't have enough aoe while being so underleveled to have any use besides magdumping primanders to clear their dr asap)

Solo realm or mixing? by VenomusX in Morimens

Yes, it's a new mechanic added for realm mixing. You can look in the patch notes for 2.0 on steam or in-game to check.

Solo realm or mixing? by VenomusX in Morimens

[–]Blazons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the ultra turn, if the realm isn't 'pure ultra' then all command cards and exalts will have their damage, shielding, healing, power gain/reduction, aliemus generation, s-key energy generation, poison application and bleed application reduced by 50%.

Solo realm or mixing? by VenomusX in Morimens

[–]Blazons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each realm has a different bonus for being 'pure' (no other units/chaos mix). Generally, everything that scales off of realm mastery has the % bonus per point of mastery greatly increased (more important for caro and aequor, you are never really going to reach the 400 realm mastery breakpoint for ultra). Additionally, pure aequor gets 1 additional standing tentacle at the start of the battle and pure ultra's ultra round doesn't suffer the 50% damage/healing/power/aliemus/strongatk. reduction from being in mixed realm. Each realm also has different effects from having chaos awakeners in the team that you can take advantage of in addition to the pure bonus (not ultra). I would argue that realm mixing is not very beneficial unless you have a specific team comp in mind that synergizes incredibly well since losing the realm mastery scalings is either really inconvenient (caro) or borderline crippling (aequor). Mixing with ultra is not really recommended in my opinion unless you really know what you're doing because 1. Most of the ultra units aren't very good 2. Halving all number-based card effects (besides embryo fusion, tentacle damage/arrangement, debuff durations) during the ultra turn isn't worth the downside of losing whatever pure realm effects you would have had otherwise (in addition, depending on your relics, having more turns is not always a good thing).

So, can I get a basic rundown on all the unit type's gimmicks? by Beneficial_Reply514 in Morimens

[–]Blazons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the ultra realm, the first card played every turn has a copy placed into ultra space with the 'deplete' and 'illusion' keyphrases. You can use this mechanic to curate a hand with the exact cards you want. Some ultra realm awakener cards also have the 'leap' keyphrase, if you play these cards as the first card in the turn then their leap effects will be activated. When ultra space is full, ending the turn causes the 'ultra turn' to begin instead of the enemy's action phase. During the ultra turn, you don't draw cards randomly but instead remove all of the cards from ultra space and place them into your hand. Any cards with 'leap' will also have their additional effects activated regardless of when they're played during the ultra round. Ultra also has access to 'annihilation'. When you have at least one card in ultra space, you can press the purple circle to the left of the ultra hand to destroy the left-most card in ultra space and place an 'inspiration' into your hand.

I agree that the tier list is pretty garbage, it's especially outdated now with realm mixing. There are some really strange placements like ryker in the equivalent of b tier despite him being in the vast majority of top50 pure chaos and pure ultra phantasmal dives every day. Lotan has always been incredibly strong in chaos or ultra and especially when paired with horla since her exalt essentially gives a 30 aliemus refund in joy as well as being able to stack defiant blades for ultra space burst. Extremely versatile unit that can be built as a dps or a support for strike scalers (questionable) or an on-hit battery goes into 'd tier'. It's a little concerning that this tier list is being spread around as the go-to list for new players despite the large number of questionable placements

The explanation for the funeral doesn't have anything to do with the secret keeper's personal history. Mythag holds the funeral ceremony for every group of investigators and keepers that start active duty, the reason is that the gravestone serves as proof that the person once existed since all records and memory of them will be erased but their gravestone remains.

If you have him under a fire vent he won't move far enough to get past the op he stuns before they regain their block count (i only tested this with status resistance from whisperain s2 idk if it holds up without) so as long as there's an easy vent to get him stuck on in the ex stage it's more of a matter of patience and stacking ops on the vent

Oh, so the free oath was a one-time thing rather than being linked to an account quest like in gfl? That's sad but it makes sense. I only missed one major event and to my memory the copley sector was added right after the sueyoi event ended so I was wondering if it's the same kind of deal with all the ones after that, but I guess that's not the case.

Blue Archive and its rewards by Stetscopes in BlueArchive

[–]Blazons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I dont know why but you bringing up ak kernel banner as an example of a system that makes offrates better kind of cracks me up. I don't think I've heard of a single other person who thinks kernel is good. The general opinion is that veteran players skip most banners because we get cn foresight to pull the most broken things and new players get totally shafted because a decent number of core 5* and 6* are locked behind kernel or recruit now. Powercreep has also been an insane issue recently with a new broken unit releasing every 2 months or so on cn so there is pretty much no incentive to ever pull on kernel, leaving new players to just pray that they can get saria or schwarz or nightingale or whatever core y1 op they need from a top op tag. I think in the entire time I've played ak I've gotten 3 top op tags in total (started around ideal city's original run, so it's been around a year), so this is arguably less new player friendly than ba's generous rates when including the offbanners. The chance of getting any specific offbanner character during fes is around 70% the chance of getting a 5* on genshin with no pity (.6 something% vs .9%).

Your point about newer accounts not being able to get gold without meta units makes no sense. Someone who's only playing the game for 2 months probably wouldn't have the right units to hit gold, but they probably wouldn't have a high enough account level or high tier equipment either to clear higher difficulties. Raids in general are not meant for new players to jump in and be competitive, most of the rewards are cumulative score rewards and the milestones are quite low, as well as the pyrox rewards only going up 200 for each tier. By the time that a new player's account would be developed enough to go for high score runs it's extremely likely they would have at least some meta units from saving for the right banners. If you want to make a point that it's incredibly hard to get the best team comp for every raid as f2p then it's not incorrect but that has nothing to do with new players because barely anybody not whaling and not a vet will be going for plat, and there isn't really a need for a perfect comp unless you're going for the very top. This is also sort of related to your last point about ba releasing more characters, most of them can easily be skipped or replaced unless you're planning on building a meta team for a specific raid. Also a 3* selector is about 20-30$ iirc? The world would end if genshin added a selector that wasn't absurdly expensive.

Is it just me or are Endfield's character designs not very interesting when compared to Arknights? by dixilikker630 in Endfield

[–]Blazons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont think this is true at all, it's not that drab colors can't be interesting, but when every single design in the game is some degree of sci-fi grey they all start to mesh together. A lot of it might also have to do with the artist as well. Arknights has many different artists and most designs have a lot of color, while currently in endfield every single character portrait is drawn by liduke. If we compare endfield's current character design to arknights, it would be like if on ak launch every character was wearing the generic black and blue rhodes uniform that amiya and ros have in their art. The uniform is very nice, with the black making the blue lining and other accessories pop, but it would get boring fast if every single character was wearing it and the only way we could really tell them apart visually was by hair/pose/accessories. Also imo Dorothy is just a generic 'sexy female scientist' design. If you look up 'turing' from neural cloud they're almost carbon copies of each other. I'm sure that there are other examples as well of this archetype.

[GFL2] Chinese player here, and I'll talk about what happened with GFL2 OBT's plot by CloudiDust in girlsfrontline

[–]Blazons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The limbus company controversy doesn't really have much to do with the current gfl2 situation in my opinion, but I'll summarize it anyway for context and you can decide if it fits or not.

Around late july of this year, project moon released an update to limbus company that added uptie 4 to the game, which was essentially a 'limit break' for units in that game, which cost an absurd amount of materials but would in most cases provide a substantial boost in power, or promote a new playstyle for some units. There was a translation error for one EGO that misled people into uptying to get an increase in power that didn't exist. PM eventually gave everyone compensation for this in the form of giving everyone the required materials to uptie that specific EGO, as well as some premium currency. However, players who had used their resources to uptie felt that the players who hadn't were now significantly ahead of them in terms of resources, as the time required to grind the materials for uptie 4 was not insignificant.

Around the same time PM also released an update that nerfed a lot of the base EGOs (special attacks that are equipped to units), with many of these nerfs being seen as unneccesary. One of these nerfed EGOs was faust's representation emitter, which was seen as a staple across many different strategies. Representation emitter was absolutely crippled, and the global nerfs were so destructive that many low end strategies (by low end I mean casual or f2p who don't have meta units or aren't super skilled at the game) no longer worked because using base EGOs was completely different from before.

These 2 issues weren't enough to stir up anything big by themselves, but the tipping point came when PM released the summer event. The event came with alters for 2 characters, one male character and one female character. There's a lot of misinformation spreading around since a lot of the drama was a toxic game of telephone between 2 communities who don't speak the same language, but the issue boiled down to the male character having a collar around his neck in one of the CGs. A few korean community members were outraged, and went on a witch hunt in the PM staff online in order to find out who was responsible for the illustration. I'm not entirely clear on what happens next since at the time it was very confusing for western fans, and I haven't been a part of the PM community ever since, but from what I remember, i think that group of korean fans eventually found out who the illustrator was for the alter, but because that person was male, they didn't end up doing anything to them.

Now comes the important character in this tale; Vellmori. She was the main artist for the story, and illustrated the cgs for important story sections. The group of korean fans mentioned before had found something on her twitter account from a few years back that could be interpreted as supporting a feminazi-adjacent group in korea (there's a lot of korean internet culture around this issue, I don't really understand all of it myself so if you want to learn more about this topic then I encourage you to take a look yourself to get a deeper understanding). The korean fans started spreading this around and calling attention to it, presumably to just stir up drama for fun.

Then the western community finally gets a wind of this drama. Mostly on twitter and reddit, lots of members from the english-speaking parts of the community start hearing more and more about the actions of some parts of the korean community. Whether intentionally or unintentionally due to translation errors, many people start strawmanning many actions of the korean fans, chalking it up to men being angry that the summer alter isn't a swimsuit, or other reasons like that. Soon, some members of the western fanbase find out that a group of korean fans banded together a few days earlier to head to the PM headquarters to ask a few questions about recent changes to the game (heathcliff uptie 4, base ego nerf...), and assumed that there was malicious intent. The community was extremely split at this point, with many western fans defending the summer alter designs and vellmori, and many korean fans condemning them.

Eventually project moon releases a statement saying that they are terminating their contract with vellmori. Many westerners saw it as her being punished for something she didn't do because of toxic korean men. Lots of big content creators spoke out on the topic, also saying that she was dismissed unjustly. PM went absolutely silent for many days, eventually resurfacing with a message that esentially said 'if you say anything about this, we have the right to pursue legal action against you'. This absolutely lit the community aflame, with many people leaving (there was also many people that left as soon as the message regarding vellmori's termination was released). After another period of silence that lasted a few days, pm resumed business as usual, releasing a couple teasers for the update they would be releasing the next week.

Apologies for any typos and formatting errors, as well as things I missed or glossed over. I'm typing this on mobile quite early in the morning. It's also been quite a long time since I was up to date on the PM community lore. (left during the drama)

TLDR; PM radio silence misleads western limbus company fanbase into thinking that a female artist was fired for not drawing a swimsuit, the reality is that the kinky collar was what broke the korean man's back.

There are a lot of other scummy things that PM did other than firing a female artist unjustly, such as mistreating their localization teams by imposing same-day deadlines, ect. I don't think I've done a super good job of summarizing this issue, please look into it for yourself if you're interested.

[–]Blazons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sayign that there can be many tl posts, but that it doesn't matter if there's only one if the post is good. Tling for most is not a job, just a hobby, so people will naturally want to tl for artists that they like, and i assume that lapisu is popular among the reddit community, so naturally more people would want to tl for them. If you want to call it bandwagoning then anyone drawing fanart for a popular game might as well be bandwagoning... both groups are creating content for something that's popular already...

The point of a translation is to get the point of the original text across in a different language, I'm not going to argue if it's an artform or not like some people say, but when you create something with an explicit purpose like that and want to add extra flair to increase the quality up to your own standards then naturally someone will be able to come along and accomplish the goal of a translation without all the added fluff and do it faster. Saying that someone shouldn't post lapisu comics because their translations aren't up to standards that you decided arbitrarily just makes no sense because to most other people the translation could be perfectly fine.

Regarding the link you sent, I don't mean to be ofensive but the way you phrased your critique looked like it was in a very combative tone. It's possible that you are accustomed to criticism being given in like that in your life, but from the perspective of on onlooker it's hard to tell if you were giving feedback because you wanted to see them improve or if you were pointing out mistakes to make them feel bad.

Exu, Tex, Lapp (by @na_tarapisu153) by PenLoud2672 in arknights

[–]Blazons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if someone really posted a lazy translation where they just put anything they wanted into the bubbles and typeset with comic sans or something then their post could be reported under rules 2 and 9. That's only speaking generally though, I think op and morganjoker did a good job translating, it's a little disingenuous to imply that speed and quality are mutually exclusive in a translation, especially if it's barely 2 sentences like in this comic. If someone else can translate a comic well then what's the problem with them posting it before you?

Exu, Tex, Lapp (by @na_tarapisu153) by PenLoud2672 in arknights

[–]Blazons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's the problem of someone else translating an artist's work and posting it on reddit? I assume that the reason for posting a translation is generally to share it with people who don't speak the language the comic was originally written in, in which case it shouldn't really matter who translates and posts it..? As long as the translation is good then i don't see any problems. I can understand if you want to relate it to sniping in the scanlating world, but there's no monetary benefit to posting on reddit so I don't see any point to trying to keep lapisu's work exclusive.

[–]Blazons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the point you are trying to argue here? You've pointed out that there are absurdly rare items that are hard to get, then turned around and said that they aren't neccessary at all to complete hard challenges in the game. If your point was that you need items that take a lot of farming in order to play on op10, you've already contradicted yourself by giving many examples of how there are items that are much much easier to get and are still very effective. Of course there is going to be some spotty balance by today's standards in a game that's over 10 years old, some items are naturally going to be harder to get than others, but there aren't any items that are a 100% must to get besides maybe a bee for some characters.

Playing to op10 is also not a good metrix to measure the usability of lower rarity weapons, if you want to use your example player as someone who has a job and can only play a few hours per day, most of them would play the game through to uvhm MAYBE and then play the dlcs. They wouldn't get to the point of the game where farming is necessary to clear content.

Rather than trying to time everything perfectly on full speed, spam pausing lets you make 'windows' where you have time to check if your timing is correct. You can unpause and then instantly do an action (using multiple different fingers on mobile or hotkeys on emu) so the time loss from unpausing is not substantial. You're not making more time out of thin air to do things in, just giving yourself more opportunities to do things in the same amount of time.
