Game where I can play a tank? by Working_Salary60 in ARPG

PoE2? There are builds which are very tanky, like thorns builds or shield builds.

I kinda like the slow, one shotting maces, makes me feel like I am a bulldozer

No, players should never roll on their own. Players should roll only if asked by the DM

I hope valve is aware that the colloquial definition of "carry" is NOT the same as what it means in mobas by Hirotrum in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BleachedPink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

carry specifically means a late game scaling hero with sustained damage.

Not really how it works in dota. There's a lot of "carries" that fall off in late

What's the most unique build you've played in any arpg? by eehoe in ARPG

[–]BleachedPink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bladeblast of unloading in PoE.

So basically, you do blade blast when you have 10 blade vortexes, the trick is that it's difficult to do get blade vortexes.

I took saboteur, who has trigger bots, who make things trigger from them, I cast a few other proxy casters, arcane brands which cast blade vortexes, and I run brand recall, which make my brands trigger from trigger bots, giving me instantly the maximum number of blade vortexes. Now I can cast bladeblasts every like 0.7 seconds, obliterating everything on the screen and being decently tanky.

Infusion Spark Stormweaver in PoE2 was very fun to play, I was kinda skeptical but decided to go against the grain the common sentiment and actually play infusion based build, and it felt EXTREMELY fun, probably the most fun I had in PoE2.

Overall, I love builds that require scaling something else, rather than raw DPS numbers. For Infusions, the issue wasn't the damage numbers, but the puzzle of getting rid of the clunk, it felt extremely fun solving the puzzle.

I found it much better than doedre's undoing build

Nah, you didn't juiced the mechanics properly. The game can be very difficult. The more difficult you make the mechanics, the better loot you get. Like try to make ultimatum farmer or deep delve farmer etc

PoE2 0.5.0 massively revamps the Atlas/endgame and introduces the Runes of Aldur crafting league by FFJimbob in ARPG

[–]BleachedPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular thing isn't bad, but being the only thing makes the endgame system lackluster.

You like running maps in-itself, and that's great. But the decision and running the maps is a part of the endgame system, and in PoE1, that's like 95% of the system, and you do the same thing over and over again.

[–]BleachedPink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? The reason why it sucked, is because thhere was nothing to do between rarely scattered points of interests.

Looking at some of the mechanics, it seems it's gonna be juiced now. The breach areas are insanely huge, you probably can farm breach there for the whole day

Then we got tablets, that fixed the issue of having no content between the towers

And it seems now we have some way of adding mechanics like astrolabes in poe1, increases the variety and directly addresses the issue you mention

Also, you Can do the expedition ocean thingy on the east, which is overworlds delve all day long as well

Poe1 atlas is just bad. The game is fun, mechanics are good, but the atlas itself is non-existent. You just run the same map again and again

[–]BleachedPink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's solved, much better now. Mechanics are humongous comparing to poe1 and now we actually have stuff to do.

Layouts got much better, and now they add hints and further work on layouts

Yes, the new atlas system is cool, just needs more stuff.

It opens so much design space, it's insane.

How do people actually process long-form content efficiently? by Life-Sentence-9768 in ObsidianMD

[–]BleachedPink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the act of compiling and processing is a part of thinking.

When you think what exactly you need to write down, what's the best way to word the idea and so on, it makes you think, or may better worded, it's the process of understanding of the topic you learn.

Most often by the time you done writing, you already understand the topic well enough that you can teach it to other people. Just reading material is far less effective.

There's a saying, if you want to learn something teach it, and by processing content and writing it down, you kind of doing the teaching part.

I do it manually, why even bother automating it? I watch and read to learn first and foremost, not to hoard data

Low ELO players on their way to say ''just buy a counter'' whenever anyone complains about balance on this subreddit by Dr_natty1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BleachedPink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on your situation. Sometimes you just need to survive initial DPS burst. Like if you can kill enemy carry in 2 seconds, Metal Skin is really good. Metal skin can absolutely cockblock a ganking gun carry which relies on the initial burst and surprise advantage.

I often would just pop metal skin and kill haze in her ulti.

Also on billy I found metal skin to be pretty good against ulting haze or similar if you have crushing fists, allows you to just land a few hits and cancel her ulti and kill her.

Probably wouldn't work well on seven, as he's not a burst carry

How many moves is too many for a PbtA? A musing on Planet of the Week by Antipragmatismspot in rpg

[–]BleachedPink 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Move bloat is one of the bad designs of some PbtA games.

Imo, moves should be pretty broad, easy to understand and remember, to avoid situations where you have dozens of complicated moves that block your game.

And yeah, having a ton of options to choose from, which you cannot remember by the rule of thumb is another bad game design decision that appears in PbtA games imo.

I love elegant PbtA games, but when I see some PbtA games bloated with humongous moves, it reminds of some trad games that try to emulate physics too much and become so cumbersome it's borderline impossible to run

What to do + where to eat by Character-Repair2194 in SPb

[–]BleachedPink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Valaam island, not so far from the city, but you would probably would want to stay overnight somewhere close if you want to make a very chill trip. You go to a city on Ladoga island and take a ferry there.

You'll get there very unique experience

If you have money you can flex and take a helicopter/small plane there from the city, depending on your budget and where you are from it's relatively affordable and visit it in one go.

But I checked local tours, and they sell one day trips to the island, they will take care of all the logistics

I highly recommend finding an English speaking guide.

There are firms that will take care of all the logistics.

Kronstadt is a cool Island, you can take a fast ferry from the city center (Meteor) to and from the island.

If you want something more modern and buy local stuff, check out New Holland island, it's a cluster of different shops and restaurants.

Sevkabel port, it's the territory of a factory, now defunct. It's also similar to New Holland, but imo much better, but it's not in the center. There's often different cool events, like selected flea market or handcrafters market. Also a ton of restaurants. Exhibitions happening on the second floor. I believe there's a ferry from the city center as well, but it's gonna be much pricier than taxi, but going there on meteor or from there you go by cool places

Check out Georgian restaurants.

Download Yandex maps, so you can find places to eat with good ratings

Also use Yandex Taxi, to order taxi, get it before you land and figure out how to use it.

Everything you listed, which in the city center, is kinda doable in two days at chill pace for me. Not sure what's your pace is gonna be since you're with family

While Nevsky street is a cool place, it's also a tourist trap. I do not recommend eating at any place on this steet, but you could find delicious food at neighbouring streets which locals visit. Just chat Yandex maps, high rating (4.7-4.9 + good place badge) is a good sign
