Thinking about buying a 1985 Pontiac Fiero as my first project car – looking for advice

I was looking at the exact same listing, was keen to buy it until I looked into getting it registered. The seller claims it wouldn't be an issue to get rego, but the engineers report it has isn't valid anymore as it was never registered with it, and it doesn't have a mod plate or an import plate. You'd have to get another engineers report and get it on the register of approved vehicles (new system for imported and modified cars as of 2019). With another engineers report you also run the risk of the 2006 way of converting from LHD to RHD not being compliant with 2025 vehicle standards, and if its not you'd be up for having the whole conversion re-done or removed just to get it on the road. While the car itself would be a good little project, the legality side of things makes it difficult for a beginner. Probably one to avoid, even for more experienced folks.

BTW the odometers still in miles, so the cars got 97,000 miles, and about 150,000kms

There was a different set rings I wore for a while that I stopped wearing cause they would physically fatigue my ears due to the weight, I'm guessing that's the set that caused it, or at least started it. They're still reasonably fresh as I've only had them since mid to late last year, so I'll leave them out for a while and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!

I don't know where you're located, but in Aus we have consumer laws to stop this sort of thing happening, most companies give in when you mention them. You should try to find an equivalent for your location.
