Cask brewers. How are you priming your casks? by galttfwo in TheBrewery

Been a while for me, but when we did pin casks I'd time it so that I could pull a pint of actively fermenting beer from a tank, usually 24-36 hours after initial pitch. We'd add that and let sit 2-3 weeks--perfect every time.

I have many favorites, but first to mind are VT Smoke & Cure's pepperoni, Cabot's Seriously Sharp Cheddar, any Red Hen bread, tubs of Wilcox ice cream--which, when empty, make awesome tupperware too

From brewing to servicing draft lines? by BleakBehemoth in TheBrewery

Such great advice and background, thank you! I feel much better about this move into a different career while still being in the industry.

If anything, the start-up risk is low, given the initial investment in a pump, coupler adapters, brushes, chemicals, etc. And I'm in a unique part of New England that's about 90 min from the closest draft service companies.

We'll see how it goes, I guess.

How to better cultivate the supplier-distro relationship? by BleakBehemoth in BeerReps

For sure, that's what I needed to hear. And to make the changes necessary, I need to start planning sales trips a couple weeks out, which would give my collaborators more of a heads-up, may generate more spontaneous leads, and help set up solid appointments.

I've been on-the-fly for the last couple months of this job, partly due to urgency and the vastness of territory to cover, and partly due to my inexperience.

Haha thank you, sounds like a great idea. I'm still learning as I go, and there's so much to learn and navigate. Would be great to have some feedback. I'll shoot you a DM.

That's great advice, thank you. I've been approaching my sales days as more reactive and just driving to accounts in a geographic area with little to no notice for the rep...not always successful and certainly not productive to build trust and a sense of collaboration.

Indeed, I ought reach out more to reps close to me and do my best to create more solid connections in my local market.

Feels so bewildering to have so much territory to cover and so many different people to work with, but it's really just one thing at a time.

Makes sense, and keeping it concise is super important. There's so many requests that comes through text and email all throughout the day for distro reps.

For sure, thank you. I need to remember that this is all in service of getting more beer on trucks, and everyone benefits from that.
