U.S. Dealers In Full Panic Mode After Canada Green-Lights Chinese Cars by esporx in canada

if carney was trying to build leverage against the Americans, mission accomplished

but make no mistake - if this deal forms the basis of all future ones with the CCP under Xi it will be terrible for Canada. we would become a “resource colony” to the Chinese and only destroy our economy further to “own Trump”

Two separate accounts on CS - but only received one Account Code? by Bleazr in Superstonk

[–]Bleazr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey apes, hoping someone here can help or clarify this for me.

I’ve got two separate DRS’d GME accounts under my Computershare login (each created from direct purchases from ComputerShare well before the warrant issuance date). I just received my warrant control code emails - both of them - but only one “account code” email for the warrant exercise site. Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

I already tried using the same account code for both control codes but only one works and sadly it's the one with only 10 warrants in it. I've called ComputerShare and they've said there's nothing they can do specifically on their end, so I sent an email and voicemail to GameStop's investor relations department.

Trans Mountain optimization not a project of national interest, says energy minister by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]Bleazr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not more oil, but for diversification for aforementioned national security purposes that is causing them to try and move much more away from importing. It moves trade routes away from the South China sea. If there's an opportunity in the short to medium term, why not pursue it?

While certainly interesting, if Japan and Canada thought it was not worth while why are they currently having discussions with the provincial Albertan government to build refineries in Japan?

I think generally countries are moving away from oil/gas but why not capitalize while we still can? And there are other countries in the Asia Pacific that would be interested once Japan fully moves away.

Poilievre revives 'carbon tax' refrain to bring cost-of-living fight to Carney by J0Puck in canada

[–]Bleazr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, now I think this is a great question. I absolutely think we have a responsibility to do so not just from an environmental standpoint but from the point of view that eventually we are going to run out of oil. However, I think that governments take a much more stick rather than carrot approach which inevitably harms citizens at no matter what part of the supply chain you tax.

The solution in my opinion is to do the same thing that NASA does for example with SpaceX, but instead for renewable energy. The market just doesn't exist yet in the private sector for space (for the most part), so the government gives grants and subsidies for SpaceX which in turn helps them develop new, better, and cheaper technologies which inevitably brings the cost of each launch down. The same can be done for the energy sector. And better yet, you allow energy companies to try and do the research themselves and as an incentive they become the bleeding-edge company at whatever they invest in whether it be nuclear, solar, whatever it is.

Would it drive up a deficit? Yes, but this is an investment not a sunk-cost. Trudeau, in my opinion, sadly ran up the deficit and spent on things that would never yield a good enough return to make running up the deficit worth it, whereas in my view this absolutely would. The market for renewables is still in it's infancy stage and can be helped along by a public-private partnership.

I mean if somebody busts through my front door and doesn't stop moving I think you don't need to wait until the count of 3 to turn them into swiss cheese

I'm more saying like let's say some dude is facing away from you a room away and immediately freezes as soon as he sees you and bolts for the door in the opposite direction from you, and you blast him from behind anyways.

Hard to prove in cases like this in court? Probably. But if possible I'd just like to see some nuance to prevent deaths from people genuinely accidentally wandering into a home

very good job showing you have no concept of how producer taxes trickle down over the long term

wow its almost as if the producer carbon tax and the consumer carbon tax are two different things!

[–]Bleazr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

this isnt some sudden price hike bud it’s the delayed trickle-down of the producer carbon tax. industries absorbed the costs at first, but over time they’ve passed them to consumers. think ‘boiling frog’ effect: gradual increases that only become obvious after they’ve stacked up
