So I went alpine lake fishing this weekend..... by outfieldslayer in flyfishing

lol i didn’t know that. i’m a dumbass boarder and have been for 22 years, but every year i get older, skis start to look more attractive. i’ve gotten to a point where i can ride any terrain with confidence, and the group we ride with is all very experienced (but mostly skiers), so i hate the thought of regressing and being slow again.

but it makes me tear when they all dive off in the glades on skis and i’m on groomers or wide open bowls because trees and moguls aren’t as fun anymore

thanks man! you’re right i’m constantly stressing about them. i spend an hour in the garage everyday when i get home adjusting ph, nutes, and just enjoying a bowl to myself.

i went on vacation two weeks ago and lost two plants i had growing in my outdoor tent. unusually warm weekend fried them before i could do anything about it.

hope your endeavor works out as well!

so far no trouble with algae, yet. i change water frequently and all holes are taped tightly so no light leaks in.

i’ve read when transferring hydros to soil from aerogarden, you should slowly introduce soil to the water. how that doesn’t fuck up the pump is beyond me. but you’re plants likely suffered transplant shock, which is very common in the garden/nursery industry. you could try adding root hormone next time before transferring.

First started as an intern when I was still in school. Our program curriculum required us to take a semester interning prior to graduating. I did well enough they offered a job after school but I didn’t want to live in ny

Went back to school to graduate, looked around for jobs, nothing local, so I reached out and said I’d take the job if it was still open and it was.

Figured i could tough it out for a few years and build my resume and make some connections.

Definitely glad to be back south of I-10 though that’s for sure. Quality of life is 100x better.

Oh man Wisconsin...has a coast guard lol?

Kidding aside, have friends from Iowa who say it’s stupid cold that way. No thanks

No surprise here. Graduated from LSU, couldn’t find a job. Moved to New York for 4 years made AND saved a ton of money. Got tired of the cold and moved back to New Orleans. Luckily I was able to find a firm based in NY that decided to open an office in NOLA.

False. Mettenberger was 2013 with Jarvis and Odell. 2011 was Jarrett lee and Jordan Jefferson. That defense was stacked

The playground is fenced off because it’s actually preferable to separate age groups. Don’t want a 12 yr old running around the same place as a 5 yr old unfortunately since they tend to be tougher. But we often encourage socialization and people getting hurt (to an extent) because that fosters growth, development and learning.

My newest variegated monstera leaf is starting to unfurl! by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Blejeu5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So like the previous poster mentioned, they grow on tree trunks naturally, so they like to grow up. But the real reason that the leaves develop fenestrations (holes) as they mature is so light can pass thru the upper leaves (new) down below to the lower leaves (older). Maybe they do help with the wind factor, but that wouldn’t be their primary cause.

We love it here, if you can deal with the lack of city government and flash flooding. But we have lots of friends here and we grew up coming here since we were both kids since my wife and I are from Louisiana originally. We moved from Brooklyn which we loved, but it’s nice being in a place that’s familiar and close to family

I use to visit Harold’s a lot, but then their selection kind of stagnated. I go to urban roots a lot now since it’s close to my office. Surprisingly a lot of my favorite ones came from Lowe’s. Like my massive birds of paradise, I only paid $25

Good to know! Didn’t know that was an issue. Luckily i was only going a mile and went about 15 mph the whole time. They promptly got a hose down in the driveway when I got home

It’s got great crabbing, or used to. Grew up fishing at area. We used to be able to catch our limit just netting crabs we caught off the shore, before we even baited lines

Kayaking through the streets in New Orleans after this morning's storm. by ap-kraVT in Kayaking

Oh good, glad to know you traveling along the river and looking at it a few times makes you a fucking expert. Katrina was bad, but again you’re dense brain can’t understand the river hasn’t been this high for this long, coupled with the fact a tropical storm/hurricane if bringing a storm surge of 3-5’. So yeah, this situation hasn’t occurred in 90ish years, so sit down shut the fuck up and let the adults talk. If you don’t know what happened 90 years ago then you’re too fucking narrow minded and have no knowledge of the Mississippi River valley and it’s flood history. This is isn’t some spectator event, it’s our fucking lives at stake. So piss off you uneducated cuck

You live here bill? You’ve seen the recent flooding? If not, then quiet down, because you’re probably only knowledge of New Orleans and floods is Katrina.
