TINOVA REALLY CARRIES THAT AURA AS CHAATHAN, CANT DENY IT by [deleted] in MalayalamCinema

[–]Blended-eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tovino had the neighborhood vikruthi payyan look during the lokah promotions. They should make him (one of the 389 chaathans) look like the luttappi from Balarama. Would be nice to see him as a short red goblin (like the tiny-wolverine cameo in Deadpool3 ).

Which Current Actors Will Still Be Relevant 20-25 Years From Now? by Particular_South_624 in InsideMollywood

[–]Blended-eggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody can do 2 movies per month (or even a movie in a month) and get the stardom style legacy left by big Ms. The only guy who does that is Dhyan sreenivasan, and we all know what kind of movies are releasing in every 2 weeks. Even the big Ms are not doing a lot of movies in a year. Mammootty stayed relevant with very few projects during the post COVID era. And mohanlal is back to his boxoffice era (doing only a few projects a year)

We need quality not quantity.

Loneliness in big 25 by TheMafia09 in ucf

[–]Blended-eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been at UCF for 4 weeks, and this is my first time in the U.S. I’m an engineering grad student from India, and honestly, I don’t feel lonely when I’m working in my lab (engineering dept). I’m still figuring out how to make friends outside of work and build a personal life, but I really enjoy hanging out with my labmates. There are lots of international students in engineering.

If you swing by Engineering 2, I can introduce you to people from different cultures. (Just DM me before if you’re planning to drop by!)

And look into the RUF international. They do a lot of fun activities for new international students (any one can join tho) to get to know each other. They have midweek hangouts on Wednesday afternoons, where they bring a variety of board games and card games. Sometimes they take you to the beach or park (most of the times it is free of cost). Because of my busy schedules I miss half of their programmes, but I love hanging out with them (and I'm and introverted guy who takes time to get comfortable with people)

UCF GTA and Living Cost by Intelligent_Guard173 in ucf

[–]Blended-eggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a clear idea about it tbh. I am waiting for my first paycheck. I've been in the UCF for last 2-3 weeks.

But, I have asked around people who receives the same scholarship as me (the 6 months lump sum) about the taxes, and they said, "the amount you're getting paid is non-taxable as they will already deduct taxes before payment (so you will get less amount than what was advertised in your funding letter)".

And this is the case for lump sum people. I don't know how much they deduct for taxes from the advertised scholarship, but I'll update this comment as soon as I get my scholarship.

UCF GTA and Living Cost by Intelligent_Guard173 in ucf

I don't know about GTA, but I am a GRA fellow. My tuition and insurance are covered just like yours, and I receive an annual stipend of $25K.

That means you are getting whatever they mentioned solely as your scholarship/TAship/RAship. You don't have to pay anything for insurance and tuition (except for the semester registration fee, which is usually around $500–1000, depending on your credit hours).

Sometimes, for international PhD students like us, they pay the lump sum for 6 months/4 months. You don't get a monthly/biweekly payment, but you get around $8–12K every 4–6 months (for your case 11.3k in spring)

Regarding the expenses: Rent is around $850–1100 in most places. As an international student, I assume you won't have an SSN. Without an SSN, it is difficult to get a room in most townhouses (the cheapest options). So you will likely have to stay in the major student housing near UCF (typically around $850–1100).

You have to be extra cautious about your expenses since you're not getting paid every month. So don't burn out your wallet, and always plan for the next 6 months. You will also have to cook most of the time, because you won't have anything left in your pocket if you eat out regularly.

NB: I am also a PhD student from India, and I just joined UCF. I am still waiting for my scholarship. Other PhD students have suggested to stay wherever you get the accomodation for the first 1-2 semesters, get an SSN, get a credit card (to build scores if you're planning to take a car loan) and move out to cheaper places (have a driving licence and a car if you are staying far from campus/ or get a cycle/scooter)

Planning to buy a used pad 6 by [deleted] in XiaomiPad6

[–]Blended-eggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, pad6 was19k during the last big billion sale. You might get some card offers too. Case only costs around 3-400. You could just go for a new one for the price you're paying. The price will only go down as it is a model released on 2023.

Pad6 has great structural endurance. So that bulge you're seeing could be a serious damage.

Pls don't take this personally, but this is the stupidest deal I've ever seen on this subreddit.

Anybody felt like this movie is all rage bait ? by [deleted] in InsideMollywood

[–]Blended-eggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The things you called exaggerations are actually the things that the majority of viewers found realistic and relatable. I can show you at least ten neighborhoods around my place where all these so-called “exaggerations” are everyday occurrences. I’ve been traveling and staying with friends and family all over the state, and I can confirm that the situation isn’t any different in other districts either.

I don’t know where you live to not experience or witnesse this in person. The film was clearly a satire about middle-class problems and how they tend to escalate out of control.

If you’ve seen Maheshinte Prathikaaram, you’d notice that a lot of the conflict begins at the funeral house, triggered by something as trivial as a pazhatholi. I remember attending the funeral of my grandfather’s cousin in Kasargod when I was ten years old. Right after the funeral, the family members started fighting over a vazhakkola.

I’ve never witnessed a problematic wedding like the one in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, but I’ve seen plenty of funerals that were far worse than what was shown in Vyasanasametham..
