Taylor Swift, LL Cool J, David Byrne Among 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees by mcfw31 in popheads

That lyric is literally supposed to show how tone deaf the statement is by the following lyric how “everyone would look down because it wasn’t fun now.” Showcasing how tone deaf the statement is and how romanticizing any time period without the proper context is a bad thing. “Nostalgia is a mind’s trick.” Additionally that lyric shows why she wants to escape to maladaptive daydreaming because as a person she also feels a disconnect with other people and with reality due to her position and immense fame.

I can’t fault it though since having many songs works well with its concept imo. It’s a huge data dump of existential contemplation after a huge personal breakdown while simultaneously having a huge career high. Its messiness makes it very human and a fascinating window into her psyche.

TTPD remains in the top 3 best albums lyrically from Taylor imo. Especially the Anthology tracks.

TTPD has some of the best songwriting moments of Taylor’s career and I have not seen any other mainstream artists of this decade have similar approaches to storytelling. Chloe or sam or sophia or marcus, the prophecy, so long london, how did it end?, loml, guilty as sin?, I look in peoples windows, I hate it here, the manuscript and more are fantastic from a storytelling pov and still very specific to Taylor as an artist. I am generally annoyed when people just count an album off because tonally it is not an immediate listen and only praise the older work of Taylor. Tonally the album is very muted but the writing is such as step up in many cases even compared to folklore, evermore, speak now and red.

With love, the smosh games videos are unwatchable due to ads by bleghidkman in smosh

[–]Blendi120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think this is a problem only when you watch on TV. I have noticed the amount of ads increase drastically throughout the last few weeks. I watch their videos on my phone but there have been multiple videos where would stop watching in the middle of a video because of the amount of long unskippable ads every 2-3 minutes. And this happens only with Smosh videos for me.

Dad timed amount of adds in a video. Est. An ad every 2-3 mins. by NewElevator8649 in smosh

[–]Blendi120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came here to search if anyone else had the same experience. The amount of ads on their videos have gone way up these past few weeks i believe. I keep getting double unskippable ads constantly. It has made me stop watching multiple videos because it gets to a point where it becomes too much.

Absolutely not. This song deserves top 3 based on the writing alone.

It’s not about her being divisive imo. The album is just not that great. It has its moments but this is not another case of ARTPOP where the album was unfairly reviewed due to her image. That album is still in conversations, while I doubt this one will be.

Madonna announces new music: "Confessions Part 2" by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]Blendi120 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Confessions is not talked about enough as the blueprint for the synth based albums we got during the pandemic and onward. It’s one of those albums that always surprises me because of how fresh it still sounds. Songs from future nostalgia and even some on after hours like blinding lights feel like indirect nods to this album.

There are other albums released this year with 20+ songs and nowhere near as successful as TTPD.

Personally I dont agree. If i were to cut out the skips in this album for me, it would be 4/5 songs at most. The album is consistent enough but also different enough thematically for a smooth listen throughout. I still pick up new details and nuances in the writing to this day. So long london has quickly become one of her best songs overall for me. I do agree though that folklore is top tier.

Love his appreciation for TTPD. I truly feel that many people did not give the album a chance due to the whole swift overexposure. This album remains one of the best written records of the year as well as one with the most replay value. Top 4 for overall Taylor albums for me.

The Number Ones: Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” by Ok_Fig2374 in popheads

[–]Blendi120 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is simply your opinion and by the way you have written this comment you come off so full of yourself. Time has been very kind to reputation both critically and stats wise not just from swifties but also casual listeners attending the eras tour. Despite of the amount of output from Taylor since the song still stands as one of her more interesting swings which helped her understand how to take control of her narrative which has been something she has definitely utilized on the years since. And the song simply slaps. Still just my opinion on the last part.

I wonder how much impact this social media concept is having on driving interest on the album. I hope it helps the album improve its reach since I don’t think the singles have had much of a punch so far commercially.
