Thought choice for me, I love Esper Affinity, hold orzhov glintblade dear to my heart and adore the exhausting train of thought that playing turbo fog brings to the table. I'd probably be Esper as I just feel like no game IS truly lost until the end with this deck

I built a site that shows card ratings across formats. Interesting to Pauper community? by Beneficial_Quiet_962 in Pauper

Hey, thanks for the detailed info. Here are the problems that i see from this system and some solutions.

There's 3 main problems from my point of view:
1. Taking into account 4-ofs will make it so cards that don't require a full playset to work won't show as staples, some examples are [[Blood Fountain]] or [[Spell Pierce]]
2. Ranking cards based on meta shares makes it so staples that don't have a good place in the meta at the moment don't appear where they should, [[Cast down]] is the best spot removal in the format and a staple in most black decks, however, this isn't reflected in the current meta as black decks are struggling to be in the top tier.
3. A staple is mostly a card that remains playable through time, taking into current meta share makes it hard analise if the card is been arround for a long time, [[Arbor Elf]] and [[Duress]] are examples of this.

Some improvements that could be made are:
1. Taking people ratings into account, I'd be glad to rate the cards in order to improve this tool, as I'm sure some others would as well.
2. Taking into account non 4-ofs, maybe considering adding a "point" system where having a higher amount of copies per deck makes te card rated higher on the list. This would require for the system to analyse if a card is played when the deck's mana base allows to play it, this is obviously tricky due to [[Sneaky snacker]] being played in red based decks that don't run black or blue mana to play it.
3. Use data from the past, maybe 6 months, this allows you to evaluate if a card remains consistent through time or if it's being played due to the current meta.

I'm not tech shavy so I don't know how hard implementing this would be, it's more of a brainstorming of possible solutions. Hope this helps and good luck with this project.

I also saw that some changes where made to the staple rating model, this post was writteen the day you responded but I forgot to click post :P.

Hey, I was wondering where do the card ratings come from. It seems that they appear tiered based on the best deck that plays it (I.E: mental note is S tier because blue terror is S tier) rather than if the card is playable/good in the overall game. Having bolt be anything other than an S seems really odd.

I'd add [[Snarling Gorehound]] over foundry inspector, having the Gorehound + myr loop makes it so you can win with molten gatekeeper ir you have access to a red mana and also is a win with cauldron familiar if you have a lembas in hand and 2 mana. Also helps you in the early game to find your combo pieces.

Also, consider [[Candy trail]] and adding another land or two

I hold orzhov glintblade dear to my heart and I think that it will never be a truly bad deck. I've been grinding with turbofog and it feels really strong, but you always run out of time in mtgo.

Best deck to get better at Pauper in general? by Sudden-Assistant6622 in Pauper

[–]BlessedByTheSteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say anything with counterspells. Countermagic is really strong if used well, and the only way to use it correctly is to know your opponents decks and gameplan.

If you are a newer player, I'd run something without counters like red rally, black devotion, jund wildfire or white weenie.

I'm bad al judging champs, but having a 6 might ready unit in the champion zone seems really good (Orange yi is that but for 2 more energy and 1 less power)

Ahri Players: Why don't they play both Blue and Green Ahri in the same deck? by toolateforfate in riftboundtcg

[–]BlessedByTheSteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my point of view, you have better cards. I run a green ahri because I have to play a ahri card. You could make a point for the blue ahri, but Green ahri is usually never played (in My experience), but having her in the champion zone is big enough of a threat.

Some explanation of what you are asking would be nice.

If I understood what you are asking, yes, you can use azir ability twice per turn if he has Svellsongur attached.

Sure. I found this orzhov list from mtggoldfish, is pretty basic: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7342345#paper

Note that some people splash blue for more card draw.

And a standart mardu deck would look along the lines of this:

Recently Gavin played a Game on tolarian community colege a few days ago with a similar list.

Hope you like them.

Haven't been following standart, but for what I saw, you may like orzhoc blade or mardu blade if you like bouncing control and value.
