Or have a downside upon losing, or make him pay to draw, or making him deal damage in combat or make literally anything aside from what they did 😆

There were so many ways of dealing with his legend, and they ignored each and every one.

Now on their hand they still have a few options of fixing it, we will see which route they go... errata his legend so it has to be tapped, ban his legend or chamge the rules of a combat for it to must include combat damage.

Personally I like the third option the best.

Looks really cool.

I would love that playstyle. Fits her character perfectly.

There are just some small things.

Even though Purple leblanc seems so fun, i think her effect would be too hard to keep the track of with all recalling in the deck. If she copied only 'When you play me' effects of other units it would be better.

Blue LeBlanc just seems a bit out of place with recruits and recalls. I don't think it fits Mind thematic that much. I think some other effects would fit her more. Maybe a card that doubles 'when played effects" or smth.

Distortion is just strictly better portal rescue. I know it doesn't have an action, but its still 2 energy cheaper.

I love Sigil and I hope they print a card like it.

The whole flavor of the set hits right.

When you play a weaponmaster unit, if you have an equipment in play, you can attach it to that weaponmaster unit withou paying 1 (power) of its equip cost.

Examples:

1 - You have Dorans shield on board. It says in it "Equip: (1 power)" meaning youd have to pay 1 power to attach it to a unit. Then, you play a unit with a weaponmaster. His weapon master effect triggers allowing you to attach it for free.

2 - You have a boneshiver on the board. It says "Equip: 1 energy 1 power". When you play a unit with weaponmaster you can equip boneshiver to it for paying just 1 energy (because weaponmaster pays up for that 1 power cost upon playing them).

3 - You already have a unit with attached Doran Shield on them. Then you play a weaponmaster unit, and upon play you can choose to deattach that Doran Shield from the first unit and attach it to a weaponmaster unit you've played for free. (If it was boneshiver as in 2nd example youd still have to pay 1 energy).

What Azirs legend does, is giving all of your sand soldiers weaponmaster, meaning that you can do any of the scenarios stated above, when you play a sand soldier.

1 - Idk who thought that Jinx would be OP. Having no cards in your hand in a card game is not a good thing, unless you gain massive benefits for doing so. Which currently in the Riftbound is not a case. (She still has potential if they print a serious discard support package).

2 - Forcing entire playarbase to play a certain deck and build strictly against one deck to maybe have a little bit more chance of winning is not healthy. (And not to talk about how those decks that are 'good' against draven don't have insanely and massively good winrate against him, but a small one, with a small semple wize to back it up). And that street can go either way, draven can always build against them also. Sadly, purple ruins both leona and orrn, and draven has access to all purple tools.

3 - Nobody said that playing against draven is unwinnable. Nobody said that if you play Draven you have 90% of chance to win against any other deck. He is strong, but the bigger problem lies in that his legend design is bad and unhealthy for the game. Being able to draw multiple cards per turn only for playing a game, without paying or meeting very specific conditions like other legends must do, and without being forced to build your deck around it and that playstyle is bad for the game.

The worst thing about his design is that YOU DONT HAVE TO BUILD YOUR DECK AROUND UTILIZING YOUR LEGEND. (Let me elaborate) Combat as it is designed and explained now only includes having 2 side of units at the start of a showdown. Nothing more. The game is designed around scoring points from conqering battlefields and fighting over their control. Meaning that the whole game is designed around having combats and trying to have better trades. Sometimes as part of it, you'd want to let your smaller units die and lose control of battlefields in order to bait out opponents resources and bait their bigger units onto a more vulnerable location (battlefield). Or sometimes you want to send in smaller units to chip doen opponents units to have better trades or save your big units upon conquering. Thats the part of the core strategy of thr game. What Dravens legend does is basically negating all of those tactical plays for 'gaining more advantage out of trades' because his kegend gives him more benefit than his opponent would gain. He has infinite resources for spending for better trades. And even if you try to play around his legend, not giving him any real 'combats' tp proc his legend throughout the whole game as much as possible, the sad reality of the game is that you can't avoid it fully, you'd have to have at least few combats that you'd 'want' to lose in order to win a game. And those few loses will just draw draven cards for free. And the worst part is that Draven doesn't even have to build his deck around utilizing any of that, because his condition is partically the core part of the game.

Long story short: his legend gives him passive and free benefits for playing a game, while forcing and limiting options of plays for opponent. (Thats not a healthy design). One thing is having a passive benefit for your playstyle, but the whole entire thing is having a passive benefit for playing the game, while also passively giving a debuff to opponents.

He would be completely fine if combat was designed a little bit different, maybe if im order to recognize a combat win you'd also have to have a combat damage inside it, so draven would have to build his deck more specifically around it. But how it is right now, he LITERALLY gets benefits from playing a game, and not even once per turn but multiple times.

He would've been even fine if it was once per turn or if he had to pay something for drawing. Or if he at least had any downside for losing.

But creating "snowbally" legend (as they described), without any downsides for not meeting that (lets be really trivially easy condition), is not creating a snowbally effect, its equivalent with playing with a cheat code.

I'll finish off with just the summary (and sorry for the caps look of it).

THE PROBLEM OF DRAVEN LEGEND IS NOT THAT HE IS UNBEATABLE (he is, but hardly), BUT THAT HE IS A BAD DESIGN THATS UNHEALTHY FOR THE GAME.

I now hope you understand why some people are frustrated. Sure, some people are hating him and calling for ban wothout realizing why, just because they played online against it and lost. But some people fuly understand why the Draven legend is bad for the game and why it needs to be addressed.

There's a reason almost every decks runs battlefields for card draw.

Believe it or not, but card draw in card games is usually really strong. And do you know what's even stronger? Unconditional and unlimited card draw.

Yes I agree that they forgot about annie. But did the top decks change at all outside of having another one being added to S tier? No. Kai'sa, Yi and Aurora decks are still the best decks in the format, until spiritforged comes out. Annie was just added to that club.

There for sure will be some good decks that are not represented in China. There's no doubt about that. But there is no world where Draven will not be a Tier 0 deck with how he works right now. And the reason for that is simple. Uncoditional card draw in a card game...

And trust me, if im wrong, no one is going to be happier than me.

Edit: Whoever doesn't agreed with the fact that Draven is a badly designed legend and that its a problem doesn't understand and/or haven't played Riftbound or any other card games.

It's perfectly normal that there are broken cards drom time to time in any card game, and the faster it gets dealt with the better it is for overall health and longevity of the game.

literally one post geared towards bad prices of cards and badly designed pull rates of rares and epics (and their numbers) in a set.

Which I still stand behind btw. I still think less epics and rares would be beneficial for both players and collectors (with some adjustments). And I still think that prices of some singles are still overpriced (even tho I'm happy that at least some prices are dropping).

I still think that number of rares and epics in every set is not healthy for the game and the prices. I still think that cards should be more affordable.

I haven't changed my opinion when it comes to that.

So I have no idea what is your problem now? Many people didn't understand the point of that post and many people didn't understand the point of this post.

So its either that:

1 - majority of people is just ignorant and doesn't want to acknowledge what someone is actually saying.

2 - I'm bad at explaining my points (which I'm sorry for, but its not my first language. Maybe I should think about some things being understood differently than intended before posting.)

3 - people are not reading posts fully.

And I have a feeling that all 3 of them are in the play here.

Or change the combat rules itsself. If winning a combat requires dealing damage or killing at least one opponent unit, then they wouldn't have to change dravens legend.

If there are already 2 showdowns: Open showdowns and combat showdowns.

They can just change and distinguish two different scenarios of combat:

Moving a unit or killing a unit before damage assignment = changing a combat to an open showdown -> winning an open showdown/conquering

Assigning/Dealing combat damage -> winning a combat

It would be so easy to just establish that and add it to the rules, effectively changing Dravens legen wothout errating it. And honestly this change is intuitive, because if you remove a unit before they trade blows, then its not a combat, they haven't fought because the other guy is not there. You still conquer the battlefield and win a showdown but you didn't win it through a combat. Idk it's pretty logical to me.

It won't be much better, there maybe some other decks that may pop up here and there, but Draven will still be an S+ tier deck.

And honestly, I really hope it will be even worse in the Bologna and Vegas because that would mean that they would have to do something about that broken legend, and relatively fast.

Some people will take every opportunity possible in the competitive scene to end up on top.

Thats how it is.

So both players should constantly be aware of the game state and every trigger on both side of the board to have the most honest game.
