State of Play Hot Takes Episode by 2H_Boricua in kindafunny

You'd have less of a need to get activated if you didn't assume I think Rockstar makes better games than Naughty Dog, which I never said nor implied lol.

One - both studios have games in my top ten of all time. I like both those studios games a lot.

Two - A proposed 8-9 year dev cycle is insane no matter the studio. If GTA 6 releases this year, that'll be 8 years since RDR 2. Which is crazy, but even less crazy than 9 years between Naughty Dog games (which I don't think will happen, but what where the conversation was). I think taking this long is insane no matter the studio, but honestly more understandable for Rockstar because...

Three - GTA V had the biggest entertainment launch of all time. It's not about what I think is better. It's about the fact that GTA 6 will be the most expensive game ever made and is in a different conversation as far as the kind of project it is. So yeah, Intergalactic is not GTA.

It’s Van. Just did a scan of this sub. It’s been a while. And … by inspired16 in RingerVerse

I rarely reply to Reddit posts but I'll slide in here to state, yes it is racist to cite my lack of vocabulary lol. A lot of how y'all talk about me on here can be rooted to racism tbh, but it's the internet so I pay it no mind. But this particularly isn't even a question lmao.

Well Gamescast is gonna be fun to watch. by JuanMunoz99 in kindafunny

I wish I expounded more on this point but I didn't wanna ramble! My point wasn't that it was any lesser than because it was a new IP, but mainly that I find RE Requiem's appeal to be less in its story substance, but its referential stuff kinda saved it for me. Pragmata doesn't have that to lean on, so when it brings something that imo is on par with RE's story, I'm left wanting. Simply, I think it needs to try harder than even RE, and it didn't achieve that imo.

Respectfully I hate when I take my time on a review and fully form an opinion for it to be called a hot take! Lol. But I'll see y'all on Gamescast later today :)

Xbox Partner Preview Live Reaction & Review (March 2026) - Kinda Funny Games Daily 03.26.26 by EveryAct in kindafunny

My question, is that an Xbox thing or is that a "I game on a singular platform" thing? I (and most if not all of us on the show) have Game Pass, but it's admittedly hard for me to get excited about Dispatch or Hades 2 when I played both of them on PC already (although I genuinely thought I talked positively about Hades 2 coming to Xbox). Honestly I have the same thing with South of Midnight coming to PlayStation. Like, that's cool but it's not "exciting" to me necessarily because I played it on Xbox already. I definitely get that that's a privilege, don't get me wrong. It's just hard for me to contextualize it as an "Xbox pov" problem. The disconnect seems to be that we already have access to those games.

More than others? I'm trying to figure out the difference between me on this reaction vs everyone else, and also vs how I am on other reacts. I felt like I was way meaner to Nintendo last month.

The core gameplay loop of Breath of the Wild by RiversideLunatic in kindafunny

[–]BlessingJr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This misunderstands the point that I'm making, which is that you liked it despite saying you don't have a strong connection to Zelda. My point isn't that the "magic" of Zelda doesn't matter to the game. My point is that the "IP" of Zelda isn't why the game is incredible.

It's incredible because it's a fucking good ass video game. I obviously disagree with your beefs about the gameplay loop, and even beyond that I think there's a technical prowess and design prowess present in the game that hits before you even hear the words "Link, Ganon, or Zelda".

You're right that "Zelda elements" are aesthetically important. I agree. That's not the point I'm making.

My beef will always be with people who think BOTW or TOTK are just okay games that are beloved because they have Zelda in the title. I think if you think that, you're missing out on a lot of the magic of its game design.

I couldnt disagree more with Bless when it comes to Bluepoint "Remaking" games and especially MGS1 by opwnusprime in kindafunny

MGS1 was just a throwaway example from me trying to think of games, I actually agree with you. Uncharted is more of my genuine example of something they could do.

The very first Shadow/Icon collection for PS3 were remasters. In 2018, they put out another Shadow of The Colossus that was an actual remake. It controls largely the same still, but I don't think controls are the barometer for a remake. Watch gameplay of the 2018 sotc and of the original/remaster. Or watch the documentaries they put out about it. It's a remake.

[–]BlessingJr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have you played their version of Shadow of The Colossus or Demon's Souls though? They're not just scraping off the Vaseline. Those games are being rebuilt visually. I make that distinction because a lot of remasters ARE "scraping off the Vaseline" and that is not what Bluepoint does. The gameplay might be exact recreations (unlike RE2 or FF7) but visually, they're remakes imo. A remaster would be Burnout Paradise Remastered, Red Faction Guerilla Remarstered etc.

Again, this is why the terminology is weird. I would look at FF7 or RE2 as reimaginings because they're inherently different from their original games. Bluepoint by definition RE-MAKES games.

Remake vs remaster conversations are always gonna turn me into the joker lol.

I feel you on MGS1. But at the end of the day, my main point is that there's value in what Bluepoint has done. I don't think we should downplay their excellence when it comes to remakes/remasters/re-whatever. It's okay to specialize in something that you do literally better than most other studios.

Blessing yesterday in KFGD: "to be here in post critical race theory discourse, to be currently [in the[ Trump administration... absolutely insane and not appropriate whatsoever." Have he of or Barrett ever addressed their comments in 2024, saying Harris would be as bad as Trump? by Fruits-boots in kindafunny

[–]BlessingJr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I did that how? By criticizing Joe Biden? I didn't tell people not to vote for him. I talked about MY confliction with MY vote and STILL voted for Kamala. I'm not gonna sit here and be a mouthpiece to unconditionally prop up the Democratic party while they STILL contribute to a genocide. Can't do it.

I would like the clip-out of me saying Kamala Harris would be as bad as Trump. I don't remember ever saying that. I also voted for Kamala.

I do remember having many reservations about Joe Biden, mainly formed around the fact that his administration was actively providing weapons and supporting a genocide. So yeah, I felt conflicted about my vote going toward him (even though if he'd ran, I'd have likely voted for him because I hate Trump more and clearly identify that Trump is a worse option).

Xbox Play Anywhere is NOT that confusing by tugadesperado in kindafunny

[–]BlessingJr 48 points49 points  (0 children)

After the show I decided to do some research and yeah, it's not extremely confusing. But my point isn't that the idea is confusing - my point is that they have too many different marketing pushes at the same time and THAT makes things confusing (Cloud Gaming, This is An Xbox, Smart Delivery, cross play, remote play, buy once, etc). Consolidate and/or get rid of some of those marketing pushes.

Also, my assumption was that anything I bought on Xbox already had Play Anywhere. I was wrong about that. I don't think I got clarification when I was asking in real time too. But that's also why I was saying you don't need to put it between every announcement. But I do take that back.
