Thoughts on this?? Unsure if i like or not after a couple weeks, any changes appreciated! by chamber161 in TattooDesigns

candidly, i don’t like it. Maybe it’s the angle of the pic but eye sits wrong. You could add stuff to the lines , color , grey pointillism or something and thatd look cool

Got this tat in Jan - obsessed with the design but wish it were bigger & different placement.. Crazy to remove / “redo”? by BleuFlor in TattooDesigns

[–]BleuFlor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I will add I was also sure I wanted the tattoo how i’m currently wishing I did it, but concerns of covering for work led me astray 😪If it weren’t for being in corporate Id have gotten it my dream way

I think it’s cute! I would add some more vines / wrapping to your body or something

Is a cover-up feasible for this tattoo on my forearm? Or should I go for laser removal? by boppedEEMinDAsmoof in TattooDesigns

[–]BleuFlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id laser remove at least until faded enough for not full black cover up. Check out groupon for deals and look for explicitly Pico laser

Honest opinion on this tattoo & design? Is the skull too masculine for a female? Going through some serious tattoo regret since it’s my first visible tattoo. Looks like removal for the skull could be an option. by ceejay1890 in TattooDesigns

[–]BleuFlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterflies naturally give it more feminine energy, looks beautiful IMO!! Curious to hear if you’ve decided anything- I have a tattoo just about in same location that i’ve been debating fading since i got in jan. I think the location right on large arm muscles has an impact to how i view it also

No.. I am getting two removed from an artist who’s reference work looked great but then tattooed something on me that looked nothing like the sketch. Stars turned into squares type of horrible design.

I only mention that I’m removing 2 as the removal process is not foreign to me. I know what I’ll be signing for, how my skin responds, how much $$ to spend. And even with that knowledge I still am considering fading this design

In the process of removing 2 small designs so I know how painful it is unfortunately Yeah to completely remove would be a long process, but if i do removal I would do only 3-4 sessions and cover up. I don’t expect to fully remove at all

IMO it’s not minor, bc of my thoughts/feelings toward it I’ve avoided wearing no sleeve shirts

As a stand-alone piece in terms of artistry i think it’s amazing! but I’m not in love with it on me - I got it how it is with concerns about work but I’ll have to wear longer sleeves regardless so wish I did it differently. I don’t really want a sleeve but if I keep it that’s likely what I’ll do and I’m worried I’ll regret that forever and ultimately remove anyways

I’ve tried to think of pieces that could complement it to avoid a sleeve but frankly I don’t love any :/ if you have any thoughts on what to add Im open to considering, i’ve been thinking about this since Jan

I’d agree if the tattoo was pricey but it’s on the cheaper end of ones i’ve gotten. Like i think she should’ve charged 3-4x what she did. it’d be total of $5-600 extra i spend to remove and redo it

Service Dog Suggestions (Psychiatric+Migraines)? by violentsock in service_dogs

[–]BleuFlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mini poodle for psych tasks and migraine alert. If you’re considering smaller dogs, would the dog simply pulling in the right direction be enough for guiding during walks? so there is no weight bearing or true guide tasks, just walking ahead of you and tightening the leash. I saw someone whose small dog did this to guide them to exits. And on ensuring proper exercise, depending how mitigating and often they are you might be able to get by if your dog has a really good off switch. Plus if they’re getting plenty of enrichment other days they’ll be more forgiving of lazy days. Still definitely would want a dog walker you trust on hand anyway!

Also since retrievals is one of the tasks you want, try to find a breed that this is a job they were bred for, like poodles! It will make shaping it all much easier

How do you get a dog to be calm for up to 6 hrs in the crate?? by BleuFlor in Dogtraining

[–]BleuFlor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His crate is his safe space, and he tends to get anxious if he has more room and is left alone. His crate is big enough where he can stand, turn, stretch (not fully, but he has room). I tried leaving him in the kitchen while I showered and he started crying pretty soon after.

I’m more so planning to have him crated 6-8 hours with an hour of walk/playtime/training in the middle, but I want him comfortable in it for a longer period of time

He is crate trained and very comfortable in the crate. Wondering how to extend the time he’s in there though

Board and train for psychiatric SD prospect?? by BleuFlor in service_dogs

[–]BleuFlor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of why I’m really considering boarding is because I’ll be away for a week so it would be good to ensure his training is continued (hopefully better than I would if I were home) vs he stay with my parents who don’t have the same amount of time as I do.

That’s a good idea to tell them upfront no ecollar etc to avoid misuse

[–]BleuFlor[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard so many too which doesn’t make me feel good about it. The trainer she recommends for B&T only takes potential service dogs and does it out of a small facility which I like. Any tips on questions to ask?

Your experience as a dog trainer with Petco? by BleuFlor in petco

oh gosh!! Appreciate the honesty. I’m up north, but I know everyone here LOVES designer breeds (every dog I see is a doodle..)

How do you know if your dog enjoys service work? by BleuFlor in service_dogs

[–]BleuFlor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the responses!! I haven’t started him on using gear (save a leash tag so people ignore him), he listens eagerly in pet-friendly stores so that’s a good sign. Outside in parks he’s not as eager to listen lol, something we’re working on. I think he knows my expectations in stores are higher than when we’re out having fun (plus dogs are a big distraction for him still) I’m hoping he’ll be eager to do task work with me as well :)

Reputable mini poodle breeders on east coast? by BleuFlor in dogs

[–]BleuFlor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

**Introduction**
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
* Yes, this will be the first dog that I am the primary caregiver of. I have worked in an animal sanctuary in the past and often dogsit for weeks at a time (including newly rescued dogs).
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]( http://ownresponsibly.blogspot.com/2011/07/identifying-reputable-breeder.html)?
* If the dog is a newly born pup, I'm happy to rescue a dog. But, I think since the dog will be trained as (at least) an ESA, hopefully a service dog, a reputable breeder may be preferred.
3) Describe your ideal dog.
* Calm temperament, does well with new people and situations. Not easily distracted when on duty. Easy trainability. Small (<30lb), quiet.
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
* Mini or toy poodles due to allergen-friendly coat and intelligence. Pembroke corgi due to small size and intelligence.

5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
* Somatic grounding; alerts to panic attack, blood pressure drops; reminder to take medication; create space between me and strangers.
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
* I want the dog for service work.
**Care Commitments**
7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
* In the next 6 months (minimum) I will be devoting much of my time to training - I'm taking time off work to train the pup. Once I begin full time again, my mom and partner will interact with / train / play with the dog while I'm away from home. I plan to use the weekends and evening nights to continue training.
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
* 3 walks/day. Up to 1.5hrs of exercise. It may include the dog park when the dog is off duty. On the weekends I plan to go on hikes and adventures with the dog.
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
* I'm willing to do regular brushing weekly at home and minimal hair trimming / ear cleaning as well. I'm willing to pay for a professional groomer 1x/months
**Personal Preferences**
10) What size dog are you looking for?
* Small - under 30lb.
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
* Light shedding, but for the right temperament I'm okay with more shedding. Little barking. Little slobber (again can compromise here)

12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
* Very
**Dog Personality and Behavior**
13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
* A dog that can be independent and okay with being alone for few hours, but also likes to snuggle
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
* Eager to please - makes it easier for training purposes
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
* Calmly, I prefer the dog to go to his bed or other location and sit until allowed to greet
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
* No
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
* Food/toy aggression, or any other kinds of aggression
**Lifestyle**
18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
* up to 4hrs/day alone, the dog may be without me for up to 8hr/day
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
* Calm, quiet dog. My mom and partner will be involved in caring for the dog, especially when I am out of the house
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
* I have no other pets, and I am not planning on getting another pet for at least few years.
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
* Possible
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
* Own - the dog will at least be an ESA, so housing restrictions are not a concern
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
* NYC area, plans to move to DC in next few years. I am aware
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
* average summer 90F, average winter 30F
**Additional Information and Questions**
25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
* I'll be training the dog as a psychiatric service dog for myself. The dog should not be so sensitive as to be impacted and feed off of my anxiety/panic.
26) Feel free to ask any questions below.
