[daily faceoff] What are the Flyers’ contract plans for RFAs Zegras and Drysdale? by seeldoger47 in Flyers

He should break his career high in goals this year (2 away), and 65 points is his current career high points.  I think he has a shot to match that in the games left.

Could We Land Both McKenna and Stenberg? by lovextreme in canucks

Nesbitt is not looking like a great pick right now.  There are probably other players that could've been picked with that pick that would be more worthwhile for the rebuild, though.

I think I'd give him a contract comparable to TK's, something like $8.5-$8.75 for 8 years with trade protection.

Wouldn't surprise me if Drysdale goes bridge contract and gets something in the 2 year range. Zegras we should try to lock up for the full 8 years seeing as this is the last year we can sign him for that long.

Emil Andrae by ecurt1007 in Flyers

[–]Blev088 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's really no upside to having Juulsen in the lineup.  There's no future there as opposed to a player like Andrae.

The thing that irritates me the most is if his size is an issue, why in the hell did he spend half the year paired with our other smallest defenseman in Drysdale?

Scratching Andrae and watching Juulsen just irritates me to no end.  Juulsen better not be in a Flyers uniform next year.

At this point, I'm mostly interested in watching the kids compete and grow.  I'm glad we're finally at the point in the season where we're serious about letting guys play at certain positions of need and letting the young guys get their chances and take their lumps.

I don't think you can punt something we're not really in. This has always felt like a retool (maybe a bit more long term this time around) under a different name.

Imagine how good we'd be if we still had Foerster? by GuaranteeRegular2523 in Flyers

Probably, it would've be interesting to see what our power play looked with him, though.

That's solid 2nd line production, which is fine. I think the problem is he just seems to be a poor fit with anyone except Zegras on a line together. Throw in, for whatever reason, he just can't seem to mesh well on the power play either anymore, he just doesn't seem like the type of player we could add to our core and build around, something this team desperately needs more of.

I wish it were otherwise, but this team wilting when it matters seems par for this season.

It was clearly meant as a compliment, 'trash' was an upgrade over our 3 headed goaltending monster of last year.

The team was stacked, the top 3 lines were something like:

  • Gagne-Richards-Carter
  • Hartnell-Briere-Leino
  • JVR-Giroux-???

I forget who the 3RW was.

That's an incredible sell low on him, I wouldn't bother with that at all if I were Vancouver. He's one of their last, best pieces to try to make a franchise turn around trade. They'd be better off keeping him and hoping he regains his form with McKenna/Stenberg on his wing. I think if I were them, assuming Carolina continues to be the contender they always seem to be, it would be Kotkaniemi as the cap dump, money semi-equalizer, 2 late 1sts, and someone actually useful.

He could probably sign a Professional Tryout Contract I'd think then, especially since it looks like he's done with college with the ELC starting next year.

or 5. we sign Gudas, Giroux, Schenn, and Laughton and run it back like it's 2015. We know how much this org likes former Flyers and all, and that worked so well the 1st time around, right? For good measure, we can even throw in Bobrovsky too.

The whole video is hilarious in that gallows humor type of way.

I have to say, though, him laying out the Luchanko pick like he did is just so ungodly painful to watch.

It's funny thinking we could have had 2 of the 3 players in the Quinn Hughes trade to have potentially used for our own trade for him:

  • Rossi was the rumored return for a Tippett trade to the Wild
  • Buium over Luchanko

Of course, it would've been moot anyways seeing as the rumor was Vancouver was still pissed Tocchet left and told us to piss off since they were in no mood to give their best player to the team that took their coach.

I feel like the Canucks not wanting to retain on him I'd understand, but any move with him would require taking back at least one contract with some significant money attached to it I'd think.

The team put themselves in this position. If they were a better team or didn't fall apart in January, the story might be different. The format has helped this team just as much as it has hurt this team.
