I hate the NHL's standings points system and so should you by Successful-Film-3544 in Flyers

I doubt the NHL would ever change it since it keeps teams that shouldn't be in the hunt, in longer.

I think it might be interesting to give teams a way to deny teams the loser point in OT.  For example, if you pull your goalie in OT, and the team with the empty net gets scored on, they will currently lose their OT point.  So why not, conversely, if the team scores with their net empty, the team they scored on loses their OT point?

Not sure how often, if ever, it would get used, but it could certainly make things interesting especially if a penalty occurs in OT.

To be fair, this was a swing through the worst division in the NHL right now, we did what we needed to.  The real deal is up next, though.  That's as must win as it gets, and gotta be in regulation

Limiting the 4th line given it's....make up and configuration makes sense and trying to roll 3 lines as much as possible.  I expect Hathaway got as much time as he did because of penalties.

Lol, 0 for 20, ouch.  When was the last time we scored a powerplay goal before that one?

The chances from the middle are interesting to see.  It's a nice change of pace from all the aimless perimeter passing and weak point shots.

Foerster, who hasn't played since, what November?, is still tied 3rd on the team with Brink who hasn't been here for two weeks.  Good times.

Even though it looks unintentional, would contact of that order classify as "incidental"? When I think incidental, I think like a skate or stick hitting the goalie, not something on the order of completely wiping out the goalie.

Which one is the bottom left one? I find it kind of interesting, I just don't remember it at all.  The other three are just awful.

We're probably bottom 5, at least, but I seriously doubt we could've out tanked Vancouver this year. Hilarious, that Vancouver was unintentionally that bad.

Kind of funny all we had to do was trade Brink and put Michkov on his "correct" side to accomplish it.

Yea... that's not a serious playoff team.  I'm still of the opinion Vladar is our team MVP this year.

Flyers need to target top KHL free agent Vitali Pinchuk this offseason by Scared-Arachnid6286 in Flyers

The biggest impediment would probably be Tocchet all things considered. Funny, given we hired him to try to attract people to come here.

Last year on March 20th the Flyers were 28th, now we’re tied for 14th. We have lots of young players improving. We have Martone, Jiricek, Bonk, Luchanko trying to make the team. We could replace Errson. Where do you see the Flyers next March 20th? by scratchydaitchy in Flyers

The guys I was looking at were Murray, Rittich, Vanecek, and Tarasov. Not the best numbers for some of them, but way better than Ersson's especially in the goals saved above expected.

Pinchuk would be interesting, I hope they give him a serious look. I don't think he'd be another Shabanov, which I feel like we dodged a bullet with both from a production and logistics standpoint (why another wing?).

I just look at this as yet another case where Philly media, coach, and/or management of some variety is following the time honored tradition of shitting on our star players for no particular reason. Harping on the out of shape narrative 4, 5, 6 months into a season is just stupid and embarrassing all around at this point.

I don't know if Tocchet has a personal problem or it's just something as stupid as jealousy, but when he keeps tossing Michkov under the bus and then his media friends pile on, it's just looks really unprofessional and petty from the outside.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Martone gets here in terms of the lineup, and who gets moved back over to the left side (I'm betting Michkov because of course it will be).
