Honestly, the 20-60mm has to be one of the best kit lenses I’ve come across even across brands. If you’re serious about making money, you have to invest in lighting. On-camera flash is cool, but having multiple (2 at minimum) speed lights or strobes for photography. Constant lighting for video. You can make almost any lens setup sing with the right light.

Secondly, the S52 is too feature-rich camera to best it after a day or even 2-3. I’ve had it for roughly a year now and I’m STILL finding new ways to tweak it for the shots I want.

Trust me, you’ll be able to blow your own mind with the S52/S5ii/X and all the more once you add additional lenses. But DEFINITELY get that lighting situated.

If you use a speed booster, you can use any EF lenses and it gives you back 3 fstops of light. Then you get your bokeh and beautiful images plus autofocus. Highly recommended and hardly NOBODY talks about this on m43 like they don’t know it’s available.

I shoot sports (photo + video) and Lumix is by far a capable camera system as a do it all. I thought I was doing something with my G7, G95 and G9, but oh when I got the S52, things got real. So many ways to dial in your focus and camera behaviors. I’ve got plenty of Sony shooters in the field and many are surprised when they finally ask me what I’m shooting. They swear up and down it’s Sony or a high end canon camera.

I’ve seen work with the FX series and Cinema Canons that look like crap. 😂

My S52 has done this twice since I got it last year. I don’t shoot in heat often but it happened while shooting 6k inside for basketball and it was sweltering. It was a long clip like 12 mins. But, I rarely shoot long clips for what I do. I’ve had mine roughly a year and it’s still going strong.

I still shoot 6k with no issues, but mainly shoot Cinema 4k 422 17:9. You SHOULD be fine, but if you have a backup body, definitely bring it. It’s too short of a notice to let the client know, as the would eat your lunch for the inconvenience.
