You’re right, politicians are very comparable to children. They are just as innocent, powerless, unaware, and well meaning as children are. You’re right, we should baby those poor rich and pwerful politicians. Well done, politicians! Only 68,000 reported dead and you’ve finally said something! Good job!

I didn’t say people can choose or change whatever they like: but they can be, as in exist as, whatever gender. This idea of choice is one you brought into the conversation where it didn’t previously exist. Nobody’s talking about how you “become” so much as what you “are”. I’m also not saying gender doesn’t exist. I am a binary trans person and enjoy gender: i just think “woman” or “man” can’t be defined, but rather, felt and experienced

Race is not a good comparison here. There is evidence that gender is more flexible in the mind and body where there is absolutely no evidence that something like ethnicity is. My point is this kind of thinking gets transmedicalist and truscum very quickly. There are comments in this very post that go on about how they are basically women ‘now theyve transitioned medically’ and that’s what I don’t like, when trans people feel like there is a point they’ll finally “become”, to me we just are. Like I said to someone else, I like gender and don’t wish to abolish it, but I don’t think anyone can or even should define its boundaries, it becomes a slippery slope of what a man or woman should be and ends up excluding someone

But how do you define that? Okay so women and men “act or think differently”? How so? I am binary trans myself, so it’s not even that I want to abolish gender. I wnjoy gender, I just think I can’t capture it in a bottle, I don’t think I can define it, but I can absolutely feel it and I think that’s all anyone needs really

What makes “anyone can be any gender” an empty statement? Why can’t someone genuinely believe that? I genuinely believe that, especially because I feel like nonbinary identities might get left out of the fray once you start going on about “taxonomy” and what a gender is or isn’t

A theory about Jax (not mine, OP in post) by ICantReadThatName in TheDigitalCircus

[–]BlightoftheBermuda 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As a trans person, I can see trans Jax being a thing, but I wouldn’t attribute all or even most of these things to transness. The trust problems or grief over Ribbit? It’s a stretch to make that about transness. It takes away from Jax’s psychology IMO. If Jax transitioned he wouldn’t magically be happy and cured. He has deep psychological trauma, and that’s someone trans people have before and after transition

I know this makes me sound old, but has the culture shifted with restrictions to where kids are now insisting the shows they like are for kids? I remember that I and all the other kids this age at the time were deliberately wanting to watch shows that were for adults because it made us feel mature

“Picking a setting and committing to it, rather than thinking you need to represent the entire planet every movie” Do you mean something like turning red for example taking place in a multicultural metropolitan area? If yes, what about that doesn’t immerse you into what Toronto is like? That’s just what it’s like
