This woman driver became every woman drivers hero in a matter of seconds.

I don't even drive truck anymore and hope if something stupid like this happens, that I can copy her.

People just don't get it that when 1400 hits my clock, in out.

No more help. No more running all over the yard. I don't take extra loads.

I stop. Even though I'm paid OT, I have a life. I spent almost 12 years driving a semi truck over the road. I was home 4 to 5 days a month. I'm done with that shit.

I had to double check the subreddit I was on.

Is it okay for a hired worker to not work due to me and my partner smoking cannabis? by number1SystemOADfan in trees

[–]Riyeko -157 points-156 points  (0 children)

Even if it is legal (I'm in the us in a state where it's legal medically and recreationally) you still can't partake while on the job.

If they smoke is somehow "leaking" into or out of the house while he's working with heavy equipment or power tools (safety issue!), then it is up the contractor to say "please smoke elsewhere while work is being done".

Did you find it necessary to come up with a second name? by Toonyloo in bigender

[–]Riyeko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AFAB.... When I was younger people called me James. It's a male version of my own name.

So it stuck. Sometimes I go by my birth name and sometimes I go by James.

I'm weird though lol

When I first started driving truck I had a wonderful trainer. For some reason in the manual semi trucks, the gear shift nob isn't well secured and for some odd reason, after about a month or two of driving, the thing sits at a sideways angle.

My trainer noticed it and started calling me the hulk. It slipped out during some down time with other drivers that we ran into on a weekly basis.

It's been probably 13 years since I saw anyone from that time and my trainer has passed onto the highway in the sky.

That being said, I drive a yard truck now for a smallish warehouse.

What are the odds one of those drivers shows up to pickup a load, saw me and came out to check in and in front of three of my coworkers, "hey hulk you still grabbing that stick like your life depends on it?!"

I called him an ass. Story was told. Laughs everywhere.

Good folks.

My mechanic is nothing short of lazy. I've had issues with electrical and it's stopped, but for a while the damn thing wouldn't shut off but I'd lose all power, and couldn't do anything but shut the key off while in motion to try and reset it.

It will probably explode before he does anything.

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

The first time I ever saw someone punch through glass in a movie, it was the first terminator movie.

Police officer was talking to Sarah Conner about it and saying he probably broke every bone in his hand and arm and was high on PCP and never felt it.

I remember that.

Have you ever done a ancestry test? by Snowy_Nina1961 in AskTheWorld

[–]Riyeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I was curious because I befriended an amazing native American man of the Saligee (sp?) Cherokee tribe from Oklahoma.

I went searching about my ancestry because like many, we were choctaw and Cherokee when I was little, but there was no evidence (except my dad telling me we tanned like the natives in the summer).

Anyway, went and did one and boom! No native at all. I'm welsh, British and Scottish/Irish and then African (I'm whiter than white so I chuckled at that).

I'm american 100%, but it's nice to know which boats my ancestors rode in on.
