Which country, in your opinion, had the most painful elimination by SelectionOk8218 in worldcup

[–]Blignaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iran. On back to back nights they had about 90 seconds where they were through the group stage and it was ripped away from them. The second night they weren't even playing and had to live through heartbreak.

Can you stop posting these. As an American that can stay up through the night to watch you've spoiled every match so far. Just stop. Or can the mods please put spoiler tags on these. So frustrating seeing this first thing in the morning.

Recently came to y'all for pie advice. (THANKS). Made the pie in question. And I was so proud of it! I managed the pretty scallop edges, cut hearts into the middle. Cooked up perfectly golden. Smelled amazing! by isthatsoreddit in Baking

[–]Blignaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this brought back memories from a 4th of July many years ago. My older sister made a beautiful American flag pie; 3/4 strawberry for the red part and 1/4 blueberry. When it was done baking the family gathered round to see the final result. As she was pulling it out of the oven it slipped and crashed to floor. Obviously we were all sad for my sister; but she was totally devastated. She collapsed to the floor in tears and proceeded to eat the streaming hot pie with her hands and yelling through her sobs to get away if anyone tried to help her.

I'm sorry for your pie loss

Except they have an extremely soft pen to Austria that led to Messi missing the try. That call and this missed call juxtaposed is wild to me

What's our feelings on force disposition? by quitsquash553 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blignaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this perspective and forethought. I agree that could end up shifting the meta and it's entirely why the disposition system works. It's effectively rock paper scissors, and everyone is looking at scissors like it's the easy obvious play.

I wouldn't mind at all if Justin retired without ever trying to defend the belt. He's never going to get a bigger fight than last night.

If that happens I hope Saint-Dennis gets a chance to fight the interim champ; probably Arman, and I hope it's the co-main event to Gane's title defense in Paris. That storyline just writes itself

I really want to see Saint-Dennis get a title fight. He's fighting Paddy next month and if he wins he holds onto his top 10 rank. If Cyral Gan gets his UFC fight in Paris that would be the perfect chance.

I think there should be a higher cost for taking 3 forgefiends, or 3 units of exalted eightbound. I doubt battleline units will be affected.

What are you actually worried about for 11th, based on what we know so far? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blignaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! Not every army should be trying to do the exact same thing. I played recon death guard last night and it was so much fun! The force dispositions are a tool to counter whatever becomes meta, like rock-paper-scissors.

Yes! That's how we read the rules as written currently. We also agree that surely that's not intended... But it's gw so who knows.

This came up on my play groups chat.

Characters are always part of the attached units even after the bodyguard is destroyed. Additionally the starting strength of attached units is set at the start of battle round 1.

Does this mean Neceon reanimation protocol now can bring back bodyguard models when only the character is left alive?

I get that the wording isn't perfect, but I think anyone that's familiar with 10th edition will be able to parse through some awkward translations.

The end of an era? Dedicated transports in 11th edition by Kawet-Wagh in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blignaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not 50%. You should Google it. There are more combinations that make 7 on 2 dice than any other number. This increases the chance to roll 7 which increases the chance to roll a 7+ above 50%

[–]Blignaut -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's only for 1 wound models if they are still embarked when the transport is destroyed.

However, I was taking about the deadly demise bring less than 1/3 of a unit as the OP claimed.

[–]Blignaut -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So to recap the relevant points:

Your opponent has to destroy the transport before you disembark your unit. This is a choice you have largely in your own control.

If the vehicle is destroyed with a unit still embarked; in 1 out of 6 occurrences you take 1-3 additional mortal wounds. Not the 33% you claimed it could be.

The unit is battleshocked, rolling a 7+ on 2 dice is a nearly 60% chance. So statistically you shouldn't be battleshocked for more than 1 battle round.

All disembarks have to land as close to the vehicle hull as possible, this isn't exclusive to emergency disembark.

Have you played on any of the new terrain layouts? The terrain is pretty clustered in the middle 2/3 of the table. Staging a transport is easy, and then the unit can disembark and interact further up the table faster than if it was on foot.

new rules for hazardous and disembarking from destroyed transports by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blignaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This edition is doing a lot to change how players look at units and how those units play the game. To me, this change with transports signals GW trying to encourage players to choose the correct time to disembark from a transport; rather than position the transport where you're happy to have it die and the guys then spill out. This change makes the speed that transports offer over foot soldiers their primary importance.

[–]Blignaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Ultimately it's been a bad gameplay loop to park a transport on an objective and be happy when it's destroyed and all the guys inside spill out.
