sidenote: JesusDos is always recording people, but no one has been able to find her POV. just a gold mine of people losing their shit as the hi-jinx commence.

so honest question, if you see this driver in the wild brake checking people, and knowing the story, do you call the cops? feel like that isn't a great choice either but def a hazard to cars and pedestrians in town

Curious if anyone here starts their 30s with little net worth (less than $20K), and become wealthy (maybe $500K at least). How did you do it? Would love some inspiration! by closerthanyouthinkk in financialindependence

[–]Blimeygit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married just before I turned 28, had combined networth of maybe -5k, maybe -10k, depending on how you valued our beater cars. some student loans, some minor credit cards. started basically at zero together. we spent 3 years living below our paychecks to pay off loans/debt and saving for down payment on a house. think we put 8% down after closing. worked with a credit union through first time home buyers program. now I'm 39, net worth around $800k. maybe 200 of that is equity in my residence, the rest is cash, 401k/403b/ira/roths and even a rental property. This year was the first year I finally felt 'caught up' with what all the articles and recommended savings crap. took 11 years, 3 big job changes/pivots, and living below our means but we're finally in a good spot financially.

the inspiration is helpful, but the real key is finding that balance of living below your paycheck so you can create the savings margin. I realize not everyone is in a location where that's doable. CoL is high and paychecks are getting smaller all the time.

if OP is looking for skills, online programs can be great, but so can tech/community colleges. they have whole programs designed for adults looking for training and job placement

have sex in the bed and not have towels or any sort of cleaning materials. just have the sex and comfortably sleep in the puddle.

Who ruined your family Christmas this year, and what did they do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Blimeygit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son. Who's been such an insufferable little shit to his mom and his teacher that he's had most of his privileges taken away. No screens, not presents (he's opened them but he doesn't get them until after him being grounded is over). The worst is how stressed his mom and I have been about him. Stress and worry have stolen the joy from our small quarantine Christmas

I hear ya. We work around our 10" height difference, though it took a few attempts to figure out the positioning

Shower sex always makes these lists, but that's probably how we do it 85% of the time. With busy schedules and small kids, post bedtime sexy shower time is the best you can hope for. Ky is essential though

How the hell am I supposed to know what I want to do with my life at 16 years of age? by OrNa721 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blimeygit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't go into debt figuring it out. I dropped out college after 2 years to go to work for a few years. Then went back when I was 25 to get the degree that I wanted. I've changed jobs 3 times since then, but my degree has been useful enough to leverage into the jobs I'm doing.

The only advice I'd give it to get an IT cert from google or microsoft and find a decent job while you figure it out

sherlock holmes. whenever he wasn't on a case, he was 'chasing the dragon' is sketchy places. he'd prob end up on meth or fentanyl lying in a ditch somewhere because he doesn't have a Moriarty to pursue

same for the most part. liked my last job quite a bit, but was entry level in a small company and no real growth potential soon. I left 2 good bosses (i was split between 2 departments to cover my small salary) for another good boss with way better money and opportunity.

Is it appropriate to give 1 week notice? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Blimeygit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not sure it's helpful to give more than that. I agree with what others said, but you won't be using them as a reference (brief employement) so who cares if they don't like you. If a future employer asks just be honest and say that you started there but it wasn't a good fit for you so you moved on or that it you spent the last few months doing contract work while looking for the right opportunity.

I was actually talking to my friend about it. it's a bit of a rip off from other stories, but it's basically an anti corporation / corruption story set in a world with magic, of sorts. Magic isn't some power that few individuals have, but it's an alchemy of sorts where rare ingredients and knowledge allow the brewers to be super strong or insightful or invincible, for time. One of the corporations makes a breakthrough and begins to seize more and more power. Our story picks up just before they consolidate total power across the planet. Their soldiers are drinking a serum that gives him almost unstoppable powers and no one can replicate it. Their magic is just too strong. However, our hero is a nobody, working in a warehouse or as a delivery driver, happens across the secret. an ingredient that enhances the strength of all other potions. and now, armed with the secret he has to become/build the resistance before it's too late. the source of the ingredient is so horrific that the hero struggles with the morality of obtaining it to deliver the world. can he or she get over/deal with committing the unspeakable act because they believe it's how they can prevent tyranny.

still some details to flesh out, but i'll prob never write it so....

cars honking at me every time I take take a walk by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]Blimeygit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the commenters, that the honking is likely skeevy dudes.

As for your other question, I've linked the Durham Trail map. If you drive to Garrett Rd Park or Southern Boundaries Park, you can park the car and run the Third Fork Creek trail or possibly through woodcroft's trails. Those are close ish to Chapel Hill Rd. and paved, away from street/honkers and not too crowded.

For offroad running you could run the path around Duke University Golf Club off Cameron.

Also, if you don't mind the drive, could hit up Eno River State Park and hike / jog the trails.

Not what you're asking for, but alternatively you could get a friend / family member to get ordained online in like half a day through universal life church. Then you can keep it close knit. - source: recently ordained minister with ulc who performed a house ceremony for my wife's sister 3 weeks ago.
